1 | The Seventh Day | Bible general Archive 2 | Fletch | 119389
The seventh day is Saturday, also called the Sabbath. Some worship on Sunday, also called Lord's Day. Most do not argue what day is the seventh, but what day to worship on. Those that worship on Saturday say that we are to keep the fourth commandment. Those that worship on Sunday do so because it is the day Jesus was resurrected. I hope this helps. 2 | Did the Lord talk to Abraham to his face | Ex 33:20 | Fletch | 119047
It seems evident that in Genesis 17:15 God is speaking to Abraham, but if you are asking face to face, the same as your other the answer is no, I would again refer you to Exodus 33:20. |

3 | Did Moses talk to God face to face? | Ex 33:20 | Fletch | 119045
Moses did not talk with God face to face, Exodus 33:20-23 "he said, 'you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.' And the Lord said, 'Behold, there is a place by where you shall stand on the rock, and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.'" Brother in Christ, Rex |

4 | The dead know nothing ??? | Eccl 9:5 | Fletch | 118661
I can't claim to know the answer to your question, but I opened my bible and for that statement it refers me to another in Job 14:21 which says "His sons come to honor, and he does not know it." The statement it refers to is the "he does not know it." What I get from this is that "the dead know nothing" is referring to awareness. Others can probably help more, but I hope maybe this helps a little. Brother in Christ, Rex |

5 | Does the OT apply to us as christians? | Bible general Archive 2 | Fletch | 118395
My beliefs are the same as yours in this case. I had come to that conclusion about a year ago when I was discussing with a SDA about their beliefs. The scripture that I came across was a parable from Luke 5:36-39 "He also told them a parable: 'No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, 'The old is good.'" This is describing the old and new covenants, as Gal 3 is. I agree that the OT no longer applies, but as you said that we should still study it. Brother in Christ, Rex |

6 | earth being flat?? | Acts 13:47 | Fletch | 118291
I don't know of the other places in the bible that refer to the earth being flat, but they might or might not be like Acts. "For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, 'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'"[ESV Acts 13:47] In this one it is a bit more clear, it is not talking about the earth being flat, when it is said "the 4 corners of the earth" it is also not referring to the earth being flat, it is only saying "the whole world." I hope this helps and if you tell me the other passages I would be more then happy to comment on them as well. Brother in Christ, Rex |

7 | Questions about "Easter" | 1 Cor 15:17 | Fletch | 118279
Easter is the day of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. As for celebration, I don't know of anywhere in the bible where it shows how they celebrated it or that they did at all, but I am sure they did. We should regard it today as the day of our Lord's resurrection the day that we were saved, for the bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:17-19: "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied." So without what we now call Easter none of us would be saved. I hope that I answered your question to your satisfaction. Brother in Christ, Rex |

8 | being baptized | Matt 3:6 | Fletch | 118273
I would say yes, you need to be baptized with water, the first reason I would say why is that it was water that flooded the world in Noah's time and now it saves, as it says in 1 Peter 3:20-21: "when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is eight persons, were brought safely through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrction of Jesus Christ." Now though I don't find this to be the most important reason, I find it to be the first reason. The most important is that when we are baptized, we are baptized into Christ's death. Romans 6:3-4 "Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." To me this shows the importance of baptism, but it is important that it is water because that is how Jesus was baptized and we receive the Holy Ghost(The guarantee of our salvation Ephesians 1:13-14) just as he did in Matthew 3:16: "And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him" and Acts 10:38 "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power." The Spirit is a gift the we receive when we are baptized, we are not baptized into it, we are baptized into the death and ressurection of Jesus. This is only my view and especially with baptism there are many different views. I hope that this helps come to your own conclusion. Brother in Christ, Rex |

9 | Is there a story on honesty in the Bible | Matt 5:34 | Fletch | 118245
I cannot say I know a parable on the issue, but Jesus said in Matthew 5:34-37: "But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not take an oath by you head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil." Paul explains this a little in James 5:12: "But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by anyother oath, but let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation." Sorry I could not help find a parable, but I do hope that this helps. Brother in Christ, Rex |

10 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | Fletch | 118236
I would like to add one more thing: Ephesians 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior." 1 Corinthians 11:3 "But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God." I am trying to portray from these two passages that the wife can not be the head of the church, since her husband is head of her and Christ head of him, with Christ also being the head of the Church. I hope that this helps. Brother in Christ, Rex |

11 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | Fletch | 118231
I would say that in the qualifications for the positions it does say "the husband of one wife." In Titus 2:3-5 it says: "They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled." To me this means that they should not teach anyone, but other women. There is another passage, 1 Corinthians 14:34: "The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says." Though this does not address women not being a minister, I bring it up because a minister needs to lead the congregation in prayer and women are not even supposed to pray in church. |

12 | Jesus had skin of bronze, hair of sheeps | Rev 1:14 | Fletch | 118223
The passage that you are looking for is Revalation 1:14-15: "The hairs of his head were white like wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters." Hope this helped. Brother in Christ, Rex |
