3 | Why would someone get rebaptised? | Bible general Archive 1 | ElizabethFunke | 42008
Born Again or Pentecostal Dcotrine of baptism is a result of Christian teachings. Baptism is usually done once, and that is by full emersion in water in the Name of Jesus and is usually by older children (at an age of understanding what it means) and adults. Roman Catholics and non-pentacostalists encourage Baptism of children. Whilst theoretically there is no indication in the Scriptures as to the age when one should be baptised, Jesus however does say; Let the little children come unto me (HIM - Jesus), so whilst the parents opt for a child's baptism it is an act of faith. Baptism is an act of Faith Baptism unto repentence. Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist and the Holy Spirit fell upon him like a dove. Consequently, in the book of Acts The Apostles urged both Jews and gentiles to repent and be baptised. I can understand the need to be baptised twice if the first baptism was as a child, as the first baptism would symbol the faith of the parents in letting the little child come unto Jesus. The Re-baptizatment, if at an older age or an adult could then be the act of the Person's faith based on understanding. |

4 | Predestination | Eph 1:4 | ElizabethFunke | 41890
Intially i would say that the question is quite easy to answer as the Apostles prech in the book of Acts and indeed in the Gospel that Salvation is free to everyone jew and gentile. Then there are the 144,000 who are the Elect of God in that they are messianic jews presumably, whilst they are no greater than ordinary christians as Jesus was given for the World and god's promise to Abraham still stands. Secondly, Believing in Jesus is the highway to Salvation, having said that the scripture says in the Gospels that many who have belief in Jesus will not enter Heaven.(you know the scripture that says: Many will say to me on that Day: Lord Lord, we did this in your Name........And(He) Jesus says Depart from me.... etc etc. Knowing that NOT believing in Jesus is a sure way of NOT getting in on Salvation, so because we know the requirements of getting in, we should consider that and let the Lord decide on who comes in or not. |

5 | who is the great whore in rev chap 17. | Rev 17:1 | ElizabethFunke | 41327
There are two points of view on the subject, one group of believers believe the Harlot to be a Spiritual beleif system i.e. the Church. Believers such as Jehovah's witnesses, some baptists, born agains belief the harlot to be th Roman Catholic church. On the other hand there are others Christians who believe that the harlot to be the U.S.( According to Several Christian Web-sites) The justification of the latter group is based on the characteristics of the Great City of Babylon described in Revelations as fitting the description of the Last Superpower on the Earth - the U.S. and in particular the City of NewYork. Another thing reported by one of the several web-sites on the subject is that The Jews in NY apparently had named NY Babylon and that there is an actual place called Babylon in NY. Some say a church, others say the last superpower of the world. The thing is, Revelations describes the whore as sitting on seven mountains. Clearly the US is not on Seven mountains neither is NY , although I stand corrected if anyone knows otherwise. On the other hand the Vatican is not a superpower in these end-time days. |
