Sorry, I've read all the threads and have not gotten an answer. I ask again - How can a spouse be sanctified by anyone but God? Can anyone supply an answer?
3 | Please explain Rev 3:1 | Matt 7:21 | D.W. Cummins | 207858
"The seven spirits of God is another name for the Holy Spirit. The seven stars are the messengers, or leaders of the churches. The problem in the Sardis church was not heresy, but spiritual death. In spite of its reputation for being active, Sardis was infested with sin. Its deeds were evil and its clothes soiled. The Spirit has no words of commendation for this church that looked so good on the outside but was so corrupt on the inside." excerpted from NIV Life Application Bible notes on Rev. 3:1 Remember that Jesus prophesied starting in Matthew 7:21 that unless we obey His commandments and put them into practice, we will not be accepted by Him but will be commanded to leave his presence. The church in Sardis, even though it had a lively reputation, was dead spiritually, except for a very few. God was using this letter to warn them they'd better start hearing and putting Jesus' words into practice or face dire consequences. Hope this helps. In His grip, DW Cummins |
