1 | Who should we ask to find out about JW'S | Bible general Archive 2 | Chochma | 108556
Please tell me by what authority did Watchtower change John 1:1. The New World Translation is: In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God,and the Word was a god." Joseph Smith was given revelation for his translation as follows: 1 In the beginning was the gospel preached through the Son. And the gospel was the word, and the word was with the Son, and the Son was with God, and the Son was of God. |

2 | How did man have a Divine Mind? | Gen 1:26 | Chochma | 108555
Divine Mind is God, Man is the physical expression of God. Man is not Divine Mind but rather it's expression.
3 | What does "The Word became flesh" mean? | John 1:1 | Chochma | 108554
"There is but one Subjective Mind, and what we call our conscience is really the use we are making of the One Law"-Ernst Homes In the beginning God....God spoke and so it was. Scripture affirms that all things that were created, are created and will ever be created are accomplished by the Son. If God spoke and so it was and if all that is; is because of the Son, it would stand that Jesus is the physical manifestation of the spoken word of God. As Jesus' existence and mortal life are The Way, The Truth and The Life it also stands that that "way, life and truth" must be available to all who wish to experience it. Man's thoughts work according to the same law as God's. God thinks, speaks and so it is. Man thinks, speaks and so it is. Man always fullfills his own prophecies whether he is aware or not. Since this is true it follows that we cannot say that one thought creates while another does not(this is the error of Word Of Faith doctrine). To affirm that you are a child of God then to think ill of your brother and wish him harm is not the true practice of this Universal Law. Thought creates a mold in the Universe, in which the idea is poured, and sets into motion the manifestation of its expression. Ignorance of this excuses no one from it's effects. It is a taskmaster to the fool and a servant to the wise. The word becomes "flesh" in our lives, in our very beings. It will either be our eternal calvary or our daily ressurection , the choice is up to us. |

4 | dreams and visions | Joel 2:28 | Chochma | 108538
Dreams and Visions "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions"-Joel 2:28 The reality of this promise should be an active part of our faith. However, too often the "conservativity"(Bushism) of many "Christians" discards any spiritual gift, leaving us with a watered down weak God who doesn't speak today, doesn't perform miracles and surely doesn't give visions. The true and living faith embraces the visions, prophecies, dreams and intuitions of the mystic path. The Lord spoke to Joseph primarily in his dreams. He taught Peter through visions and He has revealed many important truths in these days through both dreams and visions. Joseph Smith had visions, Ellen White had Dreams, Mary baker Eddy had intuitions, Helen Shuchman had intuitions, Edgar Cayce received dreams-visions-intuitions. Oral Roberts receives dreams and voices. Indeed most ministers receive "promptings" of some sort or another. To deny any of these methods of communication is to deny God His/Her rightful voice. |

5 | How Moses lead people | OT general | Chochma | 108239
There are many questions in regard to Moses. Was there an Exodus? Probably not. In fact considering the complete lack of any written documentation from egypt it is almost certain there was never an enslavement of Israel by Pharoh. The facts remain that the Egyptians were big braggers . The literature left from the era of the supposed Exodus says absolutely nothing about the Hebrews or even a Moses. Moses and Exodus represent the myths, hopes and dreams of a small group of nomads in the arabian desert. The Hebrews were traveling plunders and theives, murders and scavengers who became a great nation on the backs of victomized Cananites,Hitites etc. Theres your summary of Moses the law-giver |

6 | Jacob blessed after deception ??? | Gen 28:14 | Chochma | 108232
This question reminds me of a book "In the beginning" by Karen Armstrong. She states her case pretty early on: there is no way to get a coherant understanding of God from reading Genesis. He is utterly contradictory -- creative and all-powerful in one story; vengeful and capricious in the next. This paradox has befuddled many of reader. I, for one, had come to think of Genesis as typical of the flawed meaninglessness of the Bible. But Armstrong has me reconsidering my conclusion. It seems clear, she says, that all the characters in Genesis have to endure afflictions and unfairness. Whether they are favored in God's eyes or not, their lives are difficult. A relationship with God doesn't spare them difficulties -- instead the meaning in their lives is derived in part by making it through their difficulties with their faith intact. The story of Jacob is no different in these respects. A close pondering of the scriptures illumines the mind to the realization of who God is. God is not the packaged spell that most use when in need of a miracle . God truly is a being of higher wisdom and purpose than we could ever fathom. We may question the motives of Divine Mind but we must also be prepared for the answers that he will surely give. In the case of Jacob the answer is "Life is unfair and sometimes its meant to be that way". |

7 | Issues with LDS religion | Gal 5:7 | Chochma | 107676
While the Bible is the Standard for Salvation, it is not common to discard inspirational literature. As a LDS she is required to accept the BOM as the word of God, you are not. Yet would it offend God for you to respect the truths which are found in it's pages? The Book Of Mormon relates many moral lessons to the reader. To reject uplifting and supporting words as those in this book would sinful in my opinion. My advice would be to take what will benefit you in your walk with God and leave the rest. There are many paths, many roads to Christ. The road of service, the path of reflection, the road of knowledge, the journey of contemplation; they all lead to the Christ conciousness which brings peace. Many in this forum would have you be seperate from others saying Bible,Bible! it is the only way. I would ask you to consider one thing before you heed those voices with a spirit of contention. Before this Bible came to be as it is today(1500's), do you suppose all who believed were condemned. I would say no, that the true test of truth is not the words of any book but rather the spirit behind the truth. The Book Of Mormon has changed lives, healed families, brought hope to over 14 million people...Is that the spirit of Christ?...Yes it is Blessed Be, Chochma Kodesh |
