1 | Does GOD get bored with the same prayer? | 1 Sam 16:7 | Centurion93438 | 21981
If your prayer is sincere and from the heart, God certainly does not get bored with hearing from you. You might include in your prayers to Him, however that you are finding it difficult to concentrate, and feel that your conversations with him might sound boreing and repetitious and would like His help in that regard. The bible tells us about those who "pray, simply to hear themselves and have others hear them," rather than quietly and in reverence speak to God from their hearts and not their lungs. Surely, with everything that is going on in your life (good or bad), conditions in your home, community, State or Nation do remain a viable option to the same prayer over and over again. Sometimes, a simple "good night Lord, thanks for being with me today" does wonders to get you kick started on being more open with Him. They (prayers) do not have to be essays, books or lengthy babble....just some common down to earth words you use every day (making sure of course that you kinda "edit" them for experlatives deleted censorship;-) Before you know it, you will be chatting with Him on a variety of subjects, some from which you might gain immediate answers from Him, some will take awhile, and others my not come in your lifetime...but rest assured, He hears them all and works His will on each and every one. 2 | Is wearing a cross o.k.? | Bible general Archive 1 | Centurion93438 | 21980
Just reading your general question, I would say yes, it is ok. I say that because to my knowledge, there is no law against doing so. The cross you wear no doubt is very significant to you for one reason or another. Simply wearing a cross however, does not in and of itself make you a child of God, or a Christian, and it alone will not save you if you die without accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. I guess then, the question, "why are you wearing the cross" could better be adressed by knowing YOUR feelings on the matter. Centurian.... |

3 | how do you encourage heartbroken | Bible general Archive 1 | Centurion93438 | 21974
You might start by pointing out Psalm 69:20 which tells us; "Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none." (New International Version--NIV)....Now the word SCORN is a pretty heavy word, meaning; "an emotion involving both anger and disgust, to hold in contempt." This is no doubt some of what one feels after having been "betrayed" by her/his loved one in one form or another....also, as happens in some cases, one or the other (or both) are subjected to insults, humiliation, and made the object of the "gossip factory." You did not indicate if the you were referring to a Christian, but either way, suggest that PRAYER and FORGIVENESS is one very sure way to pull one's self up from the muck and mire and go on with their own lives with head held high. Suggest strongly that this person take his/her problem and all it's resulting feelings (depression, embarrassment, loss of self worth, thoughts of suicide, etc.), and walk with them to the foot of Jesus' Cross and allow Him to do what only He can do; MEND BROKEN HEARTS!" This also means that you may have to continue to "be there" for your friend, or even just someone whose life you find youself involved in by circumstance and have the opportunity to play a major part in by listening, and HEARING, sharing the Word of God with them, loving and caring for them and be motivated yourself by the tender stirrings of Jesus' gentle whispers as to what He wants you to do for this person. Hope this helps. Centurian.... |

4 | heaping coals | Rom 12:19 | Centurion93438 | 21971
Romans 12:20 tells us (Life Application Study Bible, New International Version (NIV), "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." So what does "heaping burning coals on his head" suggest? Well, it could refer to an Egyptian tradition of carrying a pan of burning coals on one's head as a public act of repentance. I think Paul was saying that we should treat our enmies with kindness (which isn't always easy to do as most of us know), so that they will become ashamed and turn from their sins. Centurian |

5 | Sin No More | Bible general Archive 1 | Centurion93438 | 21970
In the Life Application Study Bible, New International Version, (NIV)Jesus declared to the woman, "Go now and leave your life of sin." Jesus didn't condem the woman accused of adultery, but neither did He ignore or condone her sin. He told her to leave her life of sin. Jesus stands ready to forgive any sin in your life, but confession to Him and repentance mean a change of heart. Therefore, with God's help, we can accept Christ's forgineness and stop our wrongdoing. You will note that He did not say "you must immediately cease and desist all sin henceforth,", because He knows that for all humans, this would not be possible. If you sin, ask His forgiveness and then make a continued effort not to duplicate that sin again...take each day as it comes and THINK before you DO for out of the mouth pours fourth the thoughts of the heart.
