To understand the timing of the "final events" you need to do a very intensive study. I personally believe that we are 'on the way out' and that the Rapture is the first event on God's calender. I know several Churches that DO ADMITT this fact, so it depends on your denommination and I suppose politics. But, I think you would be best served doing your own study. Try "Precept upon Precept" from Chattannnoga Tennessee. Start with Reveleation. it takes over a Year but is WELL worth the time. E-mail me if you have any follow up's.
3 | Was the wine Jesus drank fermented? | Bible general Archive 1 | CLAUDE2000 | 80405
Yes it was. And we don't need the greek. Jesus tells the Pharisees that John (the Baptist) abstained and they called him a demon... while Jesus ate and drank and they called him a glutton and a drunkard. If they called him a drunkard (although falsley), he was drinking the real McCoy. Also, Mid -East practice (probably via the Babylonians) provided that the alcohol content of wine was more like our whiskey. There was as far as we Know, no "proofing" on drink produce. Another clue, is that the Bible always mentions wine with "strong drink" (see JER). Yes, Jesus drank and ate with sinners and prostitutes. But, he drank in moderation... as far as we know. It may also be interesting to note, that Jesus turned down "vinegar(stale wine) and wormwoood"---a semipotent narcotic while on the cross.
4 | What does last part of Genesis 3:16 mean | Bible general Archive 1 | CLAUDE2000 | 80400
There are 2 genereic answers to this hebrew idiom. One, is what most of us are familiar with, that women "seek out" men; i.e they desire them. The second is deeper. Since Eve, lost womans place, as it were, woman would be envious of man's position and thus desire to rule him...witness the henpecked husband. However, remember that our modle is Christ and the Church (EPH), and that even though we are deeling with fallen men, we are also deeling with fallen women. Genesis is a tough book, look through your NT for references to marriage, the Bride, the Groom etc, for more insights on this picture.
5 | What do you think of this great mystery? | NT general Archive 1 | CLAUDE2000 | 79928
I don't know of any off the top of my head with regards to the body and the head, but try a search for the temple and the cornerstone (same analogy). I think of Rev, Psalms, Heb, and I know there are others. Also think of the 'mystery of marraige' where 2 become 1 flesh: Christ the Groom, the Church the Bride. And Baptism where we take on a new identity (as a wife does of her husband). This is the nature of the mystery, we have unity with Christ and a working dependent relationship with each other(e.g. hand to eye coordination).
6 | what is the meaning of"THE SONS OF GOD | OT general | CLAUDE2000 | 79925
The "sons of GOD" is answered by context. it is used only 5 (or 6), times in the bible. The obscure reference; the one I think you want answered is in GEN 6(?). The Key is JOB 1. There it says, and satan came before God and the sons of God were with him (satan). Thus, "sons of God" are angels. The ones in GEN are obviously fallen angels. SEE I,II PET and JUDE for references to them and their fate. HOPE this answers your question.
7 | Searching for the truth | NT general Archive 1 | CLAUDE2000 | 79917
Q1: the greek for soon also means quickly. compare this to the parables of the Gospel: "I come as a thief in the night"; also the parable of the bridesmaids, half of whome where ready, half not. The point is you must alwats be ready, because there will not be time to react once HE comes."it will be in the blink of an eye". Incidently, His coming is based on Jewish wedding custom, which is why there are so many parables about weddings. In a jewish wedding the groom(Jesus) comes as a surprise, at the time that the Father dictates, therefore the bride(Church)must always be ready. Q2: This is a tough doctrine. YES we should try to convert everyone. This verse is akin to 2PET where it says that GOD knows how to keep the righteous for reward and to keep the unrighteous for judgment. In other words some folks aren't gonna make it... but we don't know who they are. Your verse is a prayer that reiterates 2 PET and also several of the psalms. It's asking God to judge justly. Our job IS to try and help everyone. |

8 | Am I committing adultry or other sin? | NT general Archive 1 | CLAUDE2000 | 79915
Probably. It depends on 2 things. One, your motivation; in MATT, Jesus says that if you lust after someone you have already comitted adultry in your heart. Two, it depends on the grounds for your divorce. Jesus gave specific grounds for divorce (habitual infidelity and/or abandonment), then added that a relationship even AFTER a divorce for any other reason is also adultry. I do not know your situation but I would highly advise AGAINST 'dating' prior to your divorce. As to afterwords, only you can answer that question.
