1 | What does the name "Jehovah" mean? | Ex 3:15 | Barach | 214728
The actual meaning of this name is significant as He is the Creator and Every one of His promises comes true - to the point that nonone can block his hand... the meaning has the connotation of One who causes to occur whatever he says. You heard the expression, "It's as good as done"... well that's the meaning of his name, "He Causes to Happen". So, His name actually denotes "action".
2 | Cana wedding | John 2:1 | Barach | 212498
Of note, this Biblical account records the first miracle of Jesus - turning water into wine. It's of interest because it was his first miracle - not raising someone from the dead nor curing someone. So, drinking wine - in moderation of course - is NOT a sin of any sort.
3 | where too find verse about too sensitive | Eccl 7:9 | Barach | 212497
Not sure the scriptures speak specifically with those words, but it's clear that the meaning of being too thin-skinned is portrayed in the Bible in a demonstrative manner: (From the amplified Bible) Eccl 7:9 "Do not be quick in spirit to be angry or vexed, for anger and vexation lodge in the bosom of fools." The NT bears witness to this same thought: James 1:19 Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. James 1:20 For man's anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires]. |

4 | why the one when not the other | Gen 2:9 | Barach | 206365
If you read Gen 2:9, it would appear that these two trees were available to Adam and Eve. With plenty of food, there was no reason to eat of the 'tree of knowledge of good and bad'. But they did - after being tempted by the serpent (Satan) - because they desired something that didn't belong to them. After doing that, they weren't permitted to partake of the tree of life. The tree [all by] itself didn't provide eternal life, only God can do that (Rev 2:7). Hope this helps.
5 | Melchizedek and Shem | Heb 7:3 | Barach | 203934
In refering to Melchizedek in Hebrews 7:3, Paul mentions that Melchizedek was 'without genealogy', thus it's unlikely that he was also Shem (who was Noah's son).
6 | where in bible doesit say baptism saves | Acts 2:38 | Barach | 201961
Jesus set the example. All Christians must be baptized: Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?" Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:39 "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself." Acts 2:40 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation!" Acts 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. |

7 | What does the "knowledge of the Most Hig | Num 24:16 | Barach | 200224
Sometimes it helps to see what it is not: "1 Cor 3:18 Let no person deceive himself. If anyone among you supposes that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool [let him discard his worldly discernment and recognize himself as dull, stupid, and foolish, without true learning and scholarship], that he may become [really] wise. [Isa. 5:21.] 1 Cor 3:19 For this world's wisdom is foolishness (absurdity and stupidity) with God, for it is written, He lays hold of the wise in their [own] craftiness; [Job 5:13.]" Note how to acquire it: "Prov 2:1 My son, if you will receive my words And treasure my commandments within you, Prov 2:2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding; Prov 2:3 For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; Prov 2:4 If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures; Prov 2:5 Then you will discern the fear of the LORD And discover the knowledge of God. Prov 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding." |

8 | What was in the cup, wine? | Mark 14:25 | Barach | 191854
The context of Mark 14, particularly the surrounding verses of verse 25 make it clear that it was "wine" in the cup. Mark 14:23 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. Mark 14:24 And He said to them, "This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Mark 14:25 "Truly I say to you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." |

9 | TAIL BREARE'S IN THE N/T FOUND | Rev 9:19 | Barach | 191398
There you have it in the book of Revelation... hope this helps.
10 | Comforting verse for non-believers | Psalm | Barach | 189132
For you Azure, this scripture (as it reminds us all of the unpredictablity of life): Eccl 9:11 I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning nor favor to men of ability; for time and chance overtake them all. I've found this scripture comforting: Rev 21:3,4 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." |

11 | Is Porn A Sin? | Col 3:5 | Barach | 187792
The fact that you ask is good... much of what you find in the Bible contains priciples which have broad applications and are timeless... Consider these scriptures and you decide whether a Christian should feed their mind on porn. In Colossians 3:5, sexual appetite is linked with covetousness - an inordinate desire for something that one does not have and covetousness is a form of idolatry. Also, consider Jesus words in Matthew 5:28 "but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." |

12 | Where was Samuel brought up from? | 1 Sam 28:7 | Barach | 184209
That's a good question. The context though indicates that what was happening was not approved by God. As you read through the context, divination is involved. Since divination was not approved by God, you can be sure that the Samuel mentioned in 1 Samuel 28:15 was indeed not Samuel. 1 Sam 28:5 When Saul saw the Philistine host, he was afraid; his heart trembled greatly. 1 Sam 28:6 When Saul inquired of the Lord, He refused to answer him, either by dreams or by Urim [a symbol worn by the priest when seeking the will of God for Israel] or by the prophets. [Prov. 1:24-30.] 1 Sam 28:7 Then Saul said to his servants, Find me a woman who is a medium [between the living and the dead], that I may go and inquire of her. His servants said, Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at Endor. 1 Sam 28:8 So Saul disguised himself, put on other raiment, and he and two men with him went and came to the woman at night. He said to her, Perceive for me by the familiar spirit and bring up for me the dead person whom I shall name to you. 1 Sam 28:9 The woman said, See here, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who are mediums and wizards out of the land. Why then do you lay a trap for my life to cause my death? 1 Sam 28:10 And Saul swore to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord lives, there shall no punishment come to you for this. 1 Sam 28:11 The woman said, Whom shall I bring up for you? He said, Bring up Samuel for me. 1 Sam 28:12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she screamed and she said to Saul, Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul! 1 Sam 28:13 The king said to her, Be not afraid; what do you see? The woman said to Saul, I see a god [terrifying superhuman being] coming up out of the earth! 1 Sam 28:14 He said to her, In what form is he? And she said, An old man comes up, covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and made obeisance. 1 Sam 28:15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disturbed me to bring me up? Saul answered, I am bitterly distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and answers me no more, either by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I should do. |

14 | Seasons changing, end of time? | Acts 1:7 | Barach | 182392
Are you referring to Acts 1:17? Because in that response from Jesus, he is indicating that only God knows precisely His own time-table, noone else.
15 | the book of Job | Job 42:7 | Barach | 182384
1. Not sure what you mean by 'where was the spirit from', what spirit? Perhaps you're talking about Satan? 2. People back then were very familiar with Bible history and God's use of natural elements (i.e. the flood) to punish unrepentant bad people. However, self-righteous people have twisted these examples and mis-applied them to try to explain away why someone may be suffering at the hands of God for some error/sin. 3. It's not strange at all that Job received no comfort from the so-called comforters. They were basically saying that you are getting all that you deserve from God because of some sin. Like you said, what type of friend would do that? And, that's what you can learn from the book of Job. btw: Sincerity is not a test of accuracy. If his so-called three friend were sincere they were obviously sincerely "wrong" about their self-righteous assessment of Job's awful situation, even as God indicated in Job 42:7. A nice lesson for us too - don't judge. |

16 | Did Moses studder or have a speach prob | Ex 6:12 | Barach | 182382
I believe this is the verse you are looking for. Yes, it was Moses and he felt unqualified because of being a studderer. |

17 | The Bible and the mentally retarded? | Mark 1:34 | Barach | 182380
It "appears" to only indirectly, as indicated in Mark 1:34a: "And He healed many who were ill with various diseases..." Of course, the Bible doesn't speak to a lot of diseases (by name anyway) that have only been labeled in our modern era. For instance, when it speaks of the lame in Isa 35:5,6 it doesn't mention what disease caused the crippling problem. 1 Samuel 21:14 shows Achish's (the king of Gath) reaction to King David pretending to be crazy - which David did so as to not be viewed as a security risk. It says there: "Behold, you see the man behaving as a madman. Why do you bring him to me?" So, it appears that people where aware of mental issues, but you can be sure they didn't undertand the cause. Another interesting scripture is found in 1 Tim 5:23; Paul told Timothy to: "Drink water no longer exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent illnesses." No mention of the illnesses by "name" - no doubt they were more familiar with the symtoms as opposed to the cause. I'd be interested to see what anyone else has to say on the subject. |

18 | go to hell if commit suicide | 1 John 3:15 | Barach | 181301
Life (yours and others) is sacred and all should conduct themselves in a manner that shows the highest respect for it. An important factor is that of mental and emotional disorders that are involved in many suicides. That's why some who commit suicide are called suicide victims. According to some statistics, 90 percent of those who commit suicide have some kind of mental, emotional, or addictive problem. Will God forgive the self-murder committed by people in such a mental state? We are not in a position to judge whether the deceased committed an unforgivable sin. If you or anyone else is contemplating such an act, you need to get professional help quickly - there is help. But, go to God first and ask for his help. |

19 | What is God's Image? | Rom 1:20 | Barach | 181298
Well, first of all God is a spirit and mankind is flesh, so God's image is not to be taken in a physical sense. Romans 1:20 shows that all of God's creation "reflects" His qualities. Mankind can reflect His qualities and they are encouraged to so so in Ephesians 5:1 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children", just as Jesus reflected them (only perfectly)... see John 14:9. |

20 | God offers return and restoration | Acts 3:21 | Barach | 180058
The Bible shows that God purposes the restoration of all things, including pure worship... note the beautiful verses from the prophet Isaiah: Isa 2:2-4 Now it will come about that in the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains, and will be raised above the hills; and all the nations will stream to it. And many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; That He may teach us concerning His ways and that we may walk in His paths." For the law will go forth from Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And He will judge between the nations, and will render decisions for many peoples; and they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they learn war." Jesus alluded to the spirit of this prophecy by telling his followers: "Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword." Mt 26:52 As indicated in Isaiah Chapter 2 above, God invites all to return to him. He will restore spiritual blessings now. |
