1 | Bingo! Gambleing! | 2 Tim 1:1 | AllenRhoades | 214104
No, there is no time that God calls gambling a sin. In fact he praises the use of lots to divide the spoil among the mighty. And the apostles used lots to choose Judas's replacement. Men have created the sin of gambling and and will use verses that do not speak to it to claim God has said what He never did. God condemns greediness and not caring for ones on family. If the gambling isn't under these wrongs then it isn't. BTW: I don't gamble because I do not enjoy losing and I'm cheap:) |

2 | will we be known in heaven? | Rev 21:4 | AllenRhoades | 214103
It would seem that we are more known then based on Peter's comment on seeing Moses and Elijah whom he had never meet. Matt. 17:4 Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." |

3 | What Manuscript's did the NASB translate | NT general | AllenRhoades | 214102
I believe it is the Nestle-Aland found at http://bibledatabase.net/html/greek_na/ I deduced this from the site here http://www.lockman.org/nasb/nasbprin.php which states GREEK TEXT: Consideration was given to the latest available manuscripts with a view to determining the best Greek text. In most instances the 26th edition of Eberhard Nestle's NOVUM TESTAMENTUM GRAECE was followed. |

4 | Over-explaining simple verses? | 1 Tim 2:3 | AllenRhoades | 213742
Amen. As you have said so let it be. We will stand before Him to give an account. Rest assured we wont be judged by man's tradition or wisdom. And let us not use our plain and simple understanding in one place to explain away the plain and simple understanding of another. I've been finding that a lot of God's Truth is understood by use of opposites. |

5 | Which Day Is The Sabbath Day? | Bible general Archive 4 | AllenRhoades | 213741
Saturday. Although we know the believers at Troas met on Sunday (Acts 20:7) an it seems that the Corinthians did likewise (1 Cor 16:2) And Paul stated that we have the freedom to follow our Lord either "regards one day above another" or "regards every day alike" (Romans 14:5) |

6 | Self-control..Spirit or Self? | Titus 2:5 | AllenRhoades | 213740
2 Peter 1:5-8 includes "Egkrateia" as something we are to be dilgent in adding to knowledge. Romans 12:3 uses a form of "sophron" which it states as the opposite of being high-minded. Perhaps the dichotomy in your question should be reconsidered. Can't the Holy Spirit give us something that we have to work out within ourselves? |

7 | Woman in pants | Deut 22:5 | AllenRhoades | 213670
When Moses wrote this "pants" were not worn by men or women. It would seem to be obvious from this passage that there was a difference in the robes worn by men and women. My wife wears women's pants and I wear man's pants. If you feel pants are not womenly attire then you should not wear them. If you are demanding others to act on what is not written then are you not placing man's commands as the doctrines of God? |

9 | Who does really God care about | Ps 146:9 | AllenRhoades | 213377
I have put my faith in the God who will judge us all righteously - including what we have done to others be it good or evil. Saying He will judge us righteously is a future event. It hasn't happened yet. Look at the evil from others that Jesus Himself bore as an example of how we should endure being wronged ourselves. 1 Peter 2:23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; |

11 | The United Stated in the Bible | Bible general Archive 4 | AllenRhoades | 212999
I've heard an interpretation on Ezekial 38:13 that Tarshish is Great Britian (land if Tin) and her little "lions" (KJV) would include the USA. However, it seems the KJV "lions" is now translated "villages". And regardless, I'd say it was a stretchy interpretation at best.
12 | OT/NT | Acts 26:14 | AllenRhoades | 212238
I have a friend who speaks arabic and was able to understand the aramaic in The Passion of the Christ movie. The greek word for the language was Hebrais and is interpreted "Hebrew" in the KJV and "Aramaic" in the NIV. Note the last verse is Jesus speaking to Paul. Joh 5:2 - Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Joh 19:13 - When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge's seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). Joh 19:17 - Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). Joh 19:20 - Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. Joh 20:16 - Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher). Ac 21:40 - Having received the commander's permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the crowd. When they were all silent, he said to them in Aramaic: Ac 22:2 - When they heard him speak to them in Aramaic, they became very quiet. Then Paul said: Ac 26:14 - We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads. |

13 | Can our souls feel their worth? | Matt 16:26 | AllenRhoades | 212207
Yes! From David's "I am fearfully and wonderfully made" to Jesus teaching that the Father is seeking us to worship him in spirit and in truth(Jn 4). Rom 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour (greek:tima or worth) and immortality, eternal life Rom 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile 1 Thes 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour (tima); heb 2:7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour (tima), and didst set him over the works of thy hands: |

15 | The Emerging Church, is it Biblical? | 1 Cor 9:19 | AllenRhoades | 210417
Perhaps a better question is any "Church" biblical. That is "Church" as in a building or denomination or heirarchial order. A gathering or assembling of believers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to encourge each other to love and good works is in the scriptures. What we do today (Emergent or otherwise)- not so much. |

18 | was the ten commandments done away with | Matt 22:40 | AllenRhoades | 210035
Love God, love your neighbor. This is God calling us to be holy, one, and free. To receive a blessing. Whether you believe that God would have you consider one day above another or consider every day alike, the important thing is to realize that He is both your LORD and the LORD of your brother or sister with whom you may disagree. (Romans 14) |

19 | what does the Bible say about suicide? | 2 Tim 2:19 | AllenRhoades | 209587
There are examples of suicide - King Saul falling on his sword, Absolom's advisor, Judas. But I don't see any clear word from God other than that He knows who are His and that we should depart from evil. To anyone thinking that suicide is the way to heaven I would say don't be certain. Neither would I be certain that hell is the place for those who have committed suicide due to the weakness and confusion of this life (as my brother did). God Knows. And the Judge of all the earth shall do right. |

20 | Church membership...a requirement? | Bible general Archive 4 | AllenRhoades | 209445
He is getting it from his religious training not from God's word. However, God is clear that we are members of one another (Rom 12:5) and that He will not forget our work oand love to the body: Heb 6:10 "For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints." |
