1 | Do I understanding this correctly | Matt 6:13 | 2fedex | 154995
I agree with your observation as you progressed. Allow me to note that the verse does NOT say do not tempt us(now that would be a contradiction of James) but do not lead(guide) us into temptation, but rather to deliver us. If I am not misgiven I believe that this is a plea for God to make our will or nature(fallen, given to evil ungodly pursuits) to follow His will which is perfectly in step with God and in so doing we are delivered from the evil one or our own evil. It was a perplexing statement for me as well but as I have studied and allowed the Spirit to direct my mind it has cleared up a lot of my former questions. God bless your inquiring mind with His peace, fedexguy
2 | Where is the message found? | 1 John 1:9 | 2fedex | 154395
Lifer, it may be very helpful for you to get some books by Bob George. Classic Christianity Complete in Christ or Growing in Grace. All very clearly deal with this very issue. Also for any with the internet he can be heard at www.realanswers.net and has some posted responses to this very issue. In addition I found Major Ian Thomas to be very inspirational in living my life for Christ by allowing Him to live through me. I believe his book is titled The Saving Life of Christ. God bless you.
3 | When are Christians forgiven for sins? | 1 John 1:9 | 2fedex | 154271
I think that you are answering your own question by the light of the Holy Spirit. Follow the Spirit and not the teachings of religious leaders if there is a conflict. The Spirit will lead you to Truth. True communion should be a celebration of the completed work of Jesus Christ, not a morbid experience. The judegement that these people were bringing onto themselves was the judgement of the ones that they treated unlovingly by eating all the bread and getting drunk on the wine. Talk about an unworthy manner, huh. I never want to diminish the hard work and service of leaders, but sometimes I think that they follow the traditions of men when they can solve these questions by searching and praying for Spirit led answers instead of denominational direction. It often leads to totally illogical statements and sermons just like what you are bringing up. I believe that you have hit a goldmine for your own growth in Christ here, friend....we are forgiven and are given the LIFE of Christ and we need to let Him live His life through as as we are all members of His body over which He is the head. 4 | Confess or ask forgivness of our sins? | 1 John 1:9 | 2fedex | 154269
just confess, all sins past, present and future were taken on the cross. if any of your sins are left unforgiven then you are doomed since you received eternal life at the time of conversion(you would be in an eternally sin containing state) this forgiveness is not based on what we do(works) but solely on the finished work of Christ(grace) I have struggled with this a lot in the past. I might suggest that you locate any books by Bob George or look him up at www.realanswers.net The Grace of God is truly amazing when you grasp the completeness and finality of it. God bless
