1 | What is wrong? | 2 Cor 12:13 | 1-2steve | 148419
mommapbs, Hello! I think that it may be the fact that Paul wasn't recieving money for preaching. Whereas the false apostles (11: 13-16) would always take money from the churches, which apparently is not characteristic of a true apostle. So I would be inclined to lean towards the fact that Paul was being sarcastic in that statement.? But I also would think that Paul was being specific here. He didn't say minister, only apostle. Secondly, the only way I see this translating into the church today, goes back to 11:12. Not giving someone something to boast about. Just guessing at this point!:) In Christ, steve |

chair, God was definately able to feel emotions before Christ came. When the KJV says that God repented, it means that His heart was grieved. We hurt God all the time. :( In Christ, steve |

4 | CLARIFICATION of Gen. 1:26 | Gen 1:26 | 1-2steve | 148395
Tamed, Hi! The reason God said "let us" is because of the name referenced to God in this passage. The Hebrew word is Elohim. It's a plural word that means "gods", but specifically used of the supreme "God" (this can get really deep, so I'll leave it alone for now). So God the Father was actually having fellowship with His Son before the creation of the world! Also, the gospel of John tells us that "all things were made by Him (Jesus). Also Heb. 1:2; 1 Cor. 8:6 (according to this Scripture, the world was created "by" Jesus, and was created "for" the Father)?; and the best one of all (in my eyes) is Col. 1:16. Hope this will help.:) In Christ, steve |

7 | is gambling a sin | Bible general Archive 2 | 1-2steve | 148332
Hi dltlshines, I'm getting a little tired so forgive me for not having a Scripture (if there is one available. Maybe in Proverbs somewhere), but I do know that we are not to put our trust in uncertain riches, but to put our trust in the Lord. God did say that by the sweat of your brow you will eat bread, till you return to the ground. This is (I believe) one of those issues that may not have a whole lot of Scriptural support, so you have to look at the principals of God's word. I'm almost certain about this, but if I'm wrong, someone please correct me. I do hope this helps. In Christ, steve |

8 | how do i regain my wifes trust and love | Bible general Archive 2 | 1-2steve | 148324
Hi jcjmca6, Hi! I'm Steve. I only hope I can help. I first don't know what happened but if you were the one who messed up I would tell you that you're going to have to prove your love for her by showing her that you are dedicated to her.She is going to want evidence that your heart/mind has truly changed. Unfortunately, this will take time. Is she, and are you willing to go to counciling? That's my recommendation. And if it's not too much to ask, could we get a first name only, just so we can pray for you? In Christ, steve jones |

9 | need commentary and bible dictionary | Bible general Archive 2 | 1-2steve | 148323
Billingclerk, Hi! My name is Steve. In reference to your question I would suggest a commentary that is not too technical for you. The Expositor's Bible Commentary Abridged Edition is a good one. The Bible Knowledge Commentary. And the NIV Commentary on the Bible (2volumes). Obviously you have a computer so I wouldn't waste my money buying any books that are "public domain", i.e. Matthew Henry Commentary, Albert Barnes Notes on the Bible etc. You can simply go to e-sword.net/downloads and see all the different things you can download for free! You may also want to invest in a good word study dictionary like; The New International Dictionary of N.T. Theology. This uses GK numbers but in the back of the book, you can find the number chart thar references the two. I hope this will help you. But before you buy, take a good look at them first. You can go to amazon.com and type them up in a search engine, and some (not all) of them will allow you to glance at a few pages to help you decide. Have fun digging deeper into God's precious word! In Christ, steve P.S. If you like to study on the computer you'll really want to invest in the "Zondervan Bible Study Library 5.0 Leader's Edition" cd. It will run about 60.00 on amazon.com, but about 100 dollars at your local Christian bookstore. This is "well" worth the investment. |

10 | Explain Holy Spirit to Children | Acts | 1-2steve | 148117
What book of the bible? Acts? Explain to them "how" the Holy Spirit now lives in us because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And that He promised a comforter (one who comes along side of)for the disciples because Jesus had to go prepare a place for us. So He gave us the Holy Spirit to be our helper, to let us know when we are about to make a bad choice. Ask them if their friends ever wanted to do something that was wrong, mean or the like ( If you don't steal this gum, you won't be my friend kind of thing). Then ask them how they felt when they had to make a decision. Did it seem like someone in their heart was telling them no? And explain to them that the Holy Spirit is our helper. He helps us to be able to say no to sin and to obey Jesus. |

11 | Is it biblical to speak in tounges? | 1 Cor 14:1 | 1-2steve | 148102
In 1 Cor. 14 Paul is contrasting speaking in tongues to prophesy. In v.4, he says they build themselves up. Ego. In v.5, he says "I wish you all spoke in tongues. Why? The answer comes in v. 23. In v.6, tongues aren't edifying w/out one of the four things mentioned in that verse. Vv.7-9 can be compared to 1 Cor 13:1,15:52 and 1 Thess. 4:16 (as far as understanding a trumpet goes, among other Scriptures). It's just noise w/out understanding. But verse 10 says that every language that is spoken has meaning. Wycliffe translators have translated bibles into over 300 different languages including helping those w/out a language form one in order to make a bible that is readable for them. If you call that speaking in an unknown tongue then yes, God does still speak in tongues. But your problem is gonna come in 13:10. And your going to have to make a decision on if that "perfect" thing is the bible or if it's literally Jesus. Let me encourage you to apply Acts 17:11. It's a great verse! Don't give up searching the truth out.God will show it to you indeed! God bless. I hope this helps, at least some. |
