1 | do we have any free will? | Bible general Archive 1 | zach† | 3099
Read Revelation 22:17 and you will clearly see that it says: "whosoever WILL" Rev. 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. WE have choice to make. We have to repent. God does not do our repenting for us. We have to believe. No one believes for us. Thats part of what is entailed in the term "Free will" and it is God given.

4 | What is the best version of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | zach† | 33567
WHICH BIBLE VERSION The story is told of four ministers discussing the pros and cons of various Bible translations and paraphrases. Eventually each stated which version, in his opinion, is the best. The first minister said he used the King James because the Old English style is beautiful and produces the most reverent picture of the Holy Scriptures. The second said he preferred the New American Standard Bible because he felt it comes nearer to the original Greek and Hebrew texts. The third minister said his favorite was the paraphrased Living Bible because his congregation was young, and it related to them in a practical way. All three men waited while the fourth minister sat silently. Finally he said, "I guess when it comes to translations and paraphrased editions of the Bible, I like my Dad's translation best. He put the Word of God into practice every day. It was the most convincing translation I've ever seen." . |

5 | Practical definition of 'forsake?' | Bible general Archive 1 | zach† | 33927
charis; I apreciate you reply; Let me answer a few of your questions to me as best I can. To me "forsake" means to turn our backs to something. Forsaking in my understanding of it is something that happens over a long period of time. With the individual, it begins with "grieving or making sad the Holy Spirit through our sins. To continue sinning which is called "willfully sinning" Heb 10:26 results in several things taking place. First we begin on a path in which we are drifting from the faith. Secondly; our hearts are becoming hardened. Thirdly; If we continue in this path there comes a time when our consciences becomes seared, and then the final step in this process is departing from the faith which can also be called apostasy. And that time we have "Quenched the Holy Spirit" To "Quench" means to extinguish or put out the spark of spiritual life which we began with. How much time it actually takes for this full process to reach maturity, I cannot say. It is a process that takes time. But let me finish by saying: God is not the one who forsakes us, rather it is we who forsake Him. God is faithful, and keeps His covenants and promises, yet man has shown that he often can be unfaithful and a covenant breaker. We need to daily "abide" submit ourselves unto Him" and "yield" ourselves to His molding process, so we can be clean vessels for the Master's use. But this too is a daily process. In Christ; zach |

8 | how can we loose our salvation. | NT general Archive 1 | zach† | 34351
etta; Here are just a few of the many verses concerning this topic; They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for awhile believe, and in time of temptation FALL away. (Lk. 8:13 Mark 4:16-17) Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. But it is happened unto them For if after they have escaped the pollution's of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than after they have known, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. (2 Pet. 2:20-22) For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. (Heb. 6:4-6 NASB) 1Tim 5:12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. 1Tim 5:15 For some are already turned aside after Satan. Rev. 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Joh 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. zach† |

Greetings lonelyblue12; Heb. 6:6 NASB says: and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame. This verse along with Heb. 6:4-6 was spoken to Jewish Christian's who had become convert's to Christianity from Judiaism, and is a warning for them to not forfeit their Christian faith in Christ Jesus. Although this was a warning to these Jewish Christian's (Messianic Jews) in particular, this is also a warning for all Christian's in all times, not to depart from the faith. You can also go to the "Quick Search" feature and type in Heb. 6:4 or to the "Questions on verses and type in either Heb. 6:4 or Heb. 6:6 and find more on this hotly debated topic. 10 | Who's the one Lamech had killed? | Gen 4:23 | zach† | 38155
Greetings Scandinavian Disciple; While I know of no text in the cannozied books of the Bible that would make us conclude without a doubt that Cain was killed by Lamech, the unCannonized book of Jasher indicates that Cain indeed was the person that Lamech slew. However the book of Jasher is mentioned in the Bible. Garce and peace be multiplied unto thee zach† |

11 | Who are the sons and daughters? | Gen 6:4 | zach† | 34772
reekid and everyone; In the non-Cannoized book of Jasher, there is much light shed upon the topic of the "sons of God and the daughters of men" Let me give a few verses to illustrate; Jasher 3:23.And in some time after, when the kings and princes and the sons of men were speaking to Enoch, and Enoch was teaching them the ways of God, behold an angel of the Lord then called unto Enoch from heaven, and wished to bring him up to heaven to make him reign there over the sons of God, as he had reigned over the sons of men upon earth. Jasher 4:18.And their judges and rulers went to the daughters of men and took their wives by force from their husbands according to their choice, and the sons of men in those days took from the cattle of the earth, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord; and God saw the whole earth and it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon earth, all men and all animals. God said to Noah in Jasher 5:32.And thou shalt choose for thy sons three maidens, from the daughters of men, and they shall be wives to thy sons. If you desire to check out the book of Jasher which is a book mentioned in Joshua 10:13 and also in 2 Sam 1:18 it can be located at the following web address http://www.ccel.org/a/anonymous/jasher/home.html But please read it cautiously if at all. 12 | Who are the sons and daughters? | Gen 6:4 | zach† | 36248
Question: Who were the Nephilim? Were they fallen angels who intermarried with earthly women? Answer: The Nephilim were giants who lived on the earth at one time. They are mentioned in a couple of passages: Genesis 6:4 "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown." Numbers 13:33 "There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight." The descendents of Anak were part of the Nephilim. The ten men who spied out the promised land became fearful of them, because they were so much bigger. Some people believe the Nephilim were offspring of fallen angels ("sons of God"), who married the "daughters of men." Genesis 6:4 says, "The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose." The intermarriage of fallen angels and women produced giants, according to this theory. However, the problem with this interpretation is that angels aren’t able to reproduce. Jesus said, "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven" (Matthew 22:30). Angels are a different order of creation than humans, so reproduction would be impossible. Another interpretation is the "sons of God" refer to the godly line of Seth, those who had retained a belief in the living God. The "daughters of men" refer to those from families who had abandoned belief in God. This is probably the more likely view, but doesn’t answer the question why their offspring were giants. We do know the Nephilim were giants, but as to who exactly they were, we just don’t know. Anything beyond that is speculation. Peace zach† |

13 | Confronting sin - Scripture suggestions? | Prov 28:13 | zach† | 35633
Mommapbs; An excellent verse is Proverbs 28:13 He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion (NASB) Another good verse is: Psalm 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to Thee, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord"; And Thou didst forgive the guilt of my sin. 14 | Self or Others? | Matt 7:14 | zach† | 34767
Dear brother charis; I think the NKJV rendition of this verse helps me to better understand this verse. The NKJV words it this way: Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. I think Luke 13:23-24 is a good cross reference which to me sheds light on the verse in question; Luke 13:23-24 says: Lu 13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. So from these two separate texts my thoughts begin to gravitate toward a remnant that are saved. Scripture also refers to a remanant in Luke 12:32 except here it calls them a "little flock" Let me post this verse. Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Now lets jump back to Matthew 7:13 where it says: Mt. 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: So we see that it's the many that are traveling on the broad (wide) road leading to destruction, and the Few (or remnant, little flock) Mt. 7:14 that are going down the less traveled narrow and difficult path or road which leads to life. I would appreciate your comments in return In Christ zach† |

15 | How sinful is "fallen away"? | Mark 4:16 | zach† | 38333
Joe; Putting our faith in Christ is not a stopping point, but is rather a starting point in the life of a believer. The idea of "let go and let God" has no scriptural basis. Consider the following; There is an eternal, and CONDITIONAL "if" in every consideration of eternal security. IF we walk in the light; IF that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son; IF any man draw back; IF a man abide not in me, he is cast forth; IF a man keep my saying: IF thou continue in His goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off: IF ye do these things, ye shall never fall; IF we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end; IF we endure; IF we deny Him, He also will deny us; IF we sin willfully..there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins; IF ye forsake Him, He will forsake you; ye are my friends IF ye do whatsoever I command you; IF ye live after the flesh, ye shall die. He that endureth till the end, the same shall be saved. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things , ye shall never fall (2 Pet. 1:9-10) Concerning your second question: "How bad do we have to sin to fall out of grace?" I don't have the exact answer for that. All I can say is that while a single sin in the life of a believer isn't warrant for an individual to forfeit his/her salvation, continual persistence in willful sin Heb. 10:26 grieves the Holy Spirit, and if persisted in over time will harden the heart and result in quenching the Holy Spirit. Concerning your last question I believe scripture is very clear. The Scripture you used is clear that those who "have fallen away" cannot be "renewed" So that means that they once were renewed and cannot be again. I don't believe a person can be born again, and again, and again. This text says it is "impossible" to be renewed a second time. Once salvation is forfeited, after being saved the first time, there then is no second or third chance, seeing how these trampled under foot the Son of God, and regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace Heb 10:29 Hope that helps you understand my personal beliefs on this important matter . If not feel free to reply. Grace and peace be multiplied unto thee. zach† |

16 | Can a believer lose his salvation? | Luke 8:13 | zach† | 38163
Concerning Luke 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for awhile believe, and in time of temptation FALL away. (Lk. 8:13 Mark 4:16-17) Fall in the above verse is the greek word aphistemi, which means to depart, or apostatize from ones once held profession of faith. In the above verse notice: 1. they hear the word 2. they receive the word with joy 3. But they have no root (this refers merely to the shallowness of their faith, or lack of depth) 4. They believe for awhile 5. Then FALL away (they don’t endure to the end) However they were believers for a time who did become apostates |

17 | Explain John 15:6 | John | zach† | 33282
John 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. In order to better understand this verse you have to go back to verses 1 and 2 Verse 2 mentions 2 different types of branches, which are "in Him" (meaning in Christ, and to be in Him is to be His. But we see in verse 2 the mention of one type of branch in Him which does not bear fruit. It doesn't produce anything when it should because it is not abiding and drawing life from the vine, and has become complacent, and is also in danger of being cut off from the vine, and a branch separated from the vine no longer draws nourishment from it's main life giving source, and through that process begins to dry up and wither. It is no longer green and growing. I'm sure you have seen how a branch cut from a tree over time begins to drop it's leaves and become dry and brittle. Thats what happens to us if we don't continue to abide in Him. Abide means to remain or stay connected. Once the branch becomes dry it then is only useful for the fire. Green braches don't burn well, but cut off non-producing branches will. |

18 | predestination - free will or God | John | zach† | 33285
Let me simply answer your question with a quote that helps me with this topic. The quote goes like this: God is Sovereign, but in His Sovereignty He chooses not to violate man's free will to accept or reject Him. Though He knows the choice before we make it. And one more good quote to consider on this topic goes like this: I sought the Lord, and afterward I knew, He moved my soul to seek Him, seeking me. ‘Twas not I that found O Savior true, No, I was found of Thee. |

19 | Salvation comes by asking for it. | John 3:3 | zach† | 2729
Salvation comes when we are born-again. Plus Ephesians 2:8 states that; "it is by grace we are saved through faith."
20 | "Born-again Christian" redundant? | John 3:3 | zach† | 32854
I personally believe there are TRUE born-again Christian's, and then there are those people who claim to be Christian, who have not been born-again, and have some false conception of what born-again means. For instance: some people think that if your water baptized, then that constitutes that you are born-again. But I believe they fail to see the difference between being baptized which is a type of burial. Being born-again is not a burial, but rather is a birth. There is a big difference between a burial and a birth. In John Chapter 3 being born of the water refers to ones physical birth. We were in our mother's watery womb and then the water broke and you came forth born physically from that watery womb. Secondly being born of the Spirit refers to our spiritual birth. Only God can give us spiritual life. We cannot give ourselves spiritual life, because we were dead spiritually, and a dead spiritual corpse cannot do anything to produce life in itself. The life giving source must come from outside of us. The same way we had no say in our physically birth, we likewise play no role or part in our spiritual birth.
