4 | Three Days and Three Nights | Bible general Archive 4 | you | 235993
There are only two occurences in the Bible that nights doesnt occur with days. Days always occurs before nights. The form is x days and x nights. You never have x days and y nights where x is not equal to y. In Deut 9 of the NASB you have x days and nights instead of x days and x nights. Check the BHS critical apparatus and the Qere to see if there is a justification for the discrepancy. X only has the value of 40, 3, or 7. You can put days and nights in the search to side to find the occurences. See if there is any reason to think this is more than an idiom.

7 | Indications of godly respect for women | Bible general Archive 4 | you | 236617
From your question I would have told you to look at the last chapter of Proverbs but because you said this was BSF homework and all the similar questions recently it is obvious that this is not the correct answer since you are studying Genesis. If you want to look up past answers on this site click on advanced search. Put in the date 01-01-2000. Put in keywords like ABRAHAM JACOB RESPECT WOMEN . You should find different answers like the following ID#s 169855, 170068, 170073, 186389, 236473, 236497. These answers don't agree so what is the correct answer? Context matters. The Scriptures you are studying matter. A feminist seminary professor may want a different answer than a conservative bible study leader. The type of acceptable response for you would probably need to correspond to BSF's faith statement. Even if you were to find on the web a "correct" answer copying an answer without giving credit might be considered plagiarism and in a school could result in an F on a test, an F for the class or expulsion from school. Based on the BSF International website the classes appear to be free other than a free will offering. Are the classes being used for anything other than an individual's edification? Are children being home schooled or are charter schools using this material? Are adult's getting job's based on taking these classes? What is the motivation for having to get someone to tell you a "correct" answer? Even if we wanted to we don't have all the necessary context because: We don't have your daily questions. We weren't in your discussion groups. We don't have the study notes you got in class. We don't know what was said in the lecture. You should have seen from the TOU that homework questions are not allowed and there is an age requirement to register. Read the passages assigned from your own perspective but also try to view them from that of a man and a woman of that culture and time and write your answer. It may be a trick question with a negative answer or no answer. |

8 | who did God speak to after Moses time | OT general | you | 233392
Why don't you try search on a site that let's you search the NASB by a phrase. It won't work here since the search is by keyword; try biblegateway. Search the NASB for the following phrases including the double quotes and you should get most occurrences: "thus says the LORD" "the word of the LORD came" "the LORD said" |

9 | who did God speak to after Moses time | OT general | you | 233394
You might find more of the prophets with: "the word of the LORD" came but you will also get references to scriptures Try also: "LORD spoke" "declares the LORD" Sometimes an "oracle" refers to being spoken to. Searching for those still won't find something like 1 Kings 19:13. I don't think you meant visions. |

I gave no roman numerals. The book originated in 1848 so anybody can print there own version. I am looking at Zondervan's first printing in 1970. Look in your version for nun ayin sin he. Make sure you look at a hebrew text to see what pointing the masoretes applied.
14 | Gen 1:26 | Gen 1:1 | you | 234023
What I was taught in different classes was to translate elohim as gods or God based on context. Scanning through The Hebrew-English Concordance to the Old Testament I see numerous occurrences of elohim being translated as god in the NIV. See Ex 22:20, Num 4:34, Jdg 6:31, 8:33, 9:27, 1 Sam 4:7, 2 Ki 17:27, 18:33 and Jonah 1:5. Sometimes even God is referred to as god in 2 Sam 5:7, 21:20 and 2 ch 32:17. More interesting to look at are Gen 23:6, 30:8, Ex 18:19, 21:26, 22:8,9 34:16, Jdg 11:24, 16:23,24 , 17:5, 1 sam 5:7, 2 sam 11:33, 18:24,25,27, 2 ki 1:10, 16, 5:17, 19:10,37, Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7, Ps 8:5, 36:7, and Is 35:4 Sorry if I made any typos but there is plenty to look at. |

16 | Gen 1:26 | Gen 1:1 | you | 234029

17 | Gen 1:26 | Gen 1:1 | you | 234030
The first part of the first reference and the second reference both say first person plural. The second part of the first reference has to be questioned because of the slight difference in pointing of Ne 5:18 from Gen 1:26. Figure out the meaning of the pointing. |

18 | Gen 1:26 | Gen 1:1 | you | 234044
In Gen 1:26 and Neh 5:18 you have two words that look the same except for cantillation marks. So they would be pronounced almost the same except for accentuation. Davidson's first parsing and the one I gave from Beal are singular plural. This parsing is easy to find in a I-Guttural verb chart. Based on context of the rest of the verse you decide this is the right parsing for Gen 1:26. Davidson's second parsing applies to Neh 5:18. Beal says this a "niph ptc ms" on page 379.
19 | Why the bible says 7 days instead of 6? | Gen 2:2 | you | 235886
You might look at 7268 with a Sabbath definition posted by kalos. You can see in the Amplified Bible that it says God ended his work on the seventh day. Searcher56 noted this issue in 229563. You can see commentaries at http://bible.cc/genesis/2-2.htm . I found an interpretation, that I don't expect anyone to accept, but does make God's resting real without the universe disappearing. It is on a page of the www.youngisrael.org website with this attestation: 2 October 2010 / 24 Tishri 5771 Daf Yomi: Avoda Zarah 49 "G-d Give Me A Break" Parshas Breisheet Rabbi Brahm Weinberg - Young Israel of West Hartford Rav Shimon Schwab in Maayan Beis Hashoeva explains the depth of Rashi’s statement and, consequently, of G-d’s creation of menucha. 'Rav Schwab asks why creation would have been incomplete without menucha? ... the world and all that was created could not have continued to exist on its own if not for Hashem’s constant involvement with it at every second. ... By resting on the Shabbos, by creating a concept of menucha what Hashems actually doing was created an opportunity for the world to continue to exist even when He ceased to be involved in its new creation; ... He is involved in the creation every day, He does sustain the creation everyday, but is not recreating it new from scratch every day.' |
