1 | def of progenitors as used in gen 49:26 | Gen 49:26 | yosepy | 77248
Hi philsull, Good question! Gen 49:26 The blessings1293 of thy father1 have prevailed1396 above5921 the blessings1293 of my progenitors2029 unto5704 the utmost bound8379 of the everlasting5769 hills:1389 they shall be1961 on the head7218 of Joseph,3130 and on the crown of the head6936 of him that was separate from5139 his brethren.251 H2029 ha ra h haw-raw A primitive root; to be or become pregnant, conceive literally of figuratively: - been, be with child, conceive, progenitor. Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries Other versions say, Darby The blessings of thy father surpass the blessings of my ancestors, Unto the bounds of the everlasting hills:..... MKJV The blessings of your father are above the blessings of my ancestors, to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills...... And yet in the Literal Version it says, LITV The blessings of your father are above the blessings of my offspring, to the limit of everlasting hills; The King James Dictionary says, Progenitors Ancestors; parents. In the context it can only mean his ancestors as he is talking to Joseph and his brothers and saying that those same blessings shall be on Joseph. Blessings are recieved through Faith in the promises of God. Find a promise, believe it for yourself, recieve it, speak it. Let it become a confession of your faith. God Bless Yosepy |

2 | Contradictions? | Gal 1:9 | yosepy | 75750
jlpangilinan,In response to 'contradictions' a verse in the scriptures can not be taken by itself but read in the context of the surrounding verses, the chapter, the book, other books by the same author, the testament in which it is written and finally the whole bible. This is the process. Bare in mind also that the english versions dont always say it the way the Hebrew and Greek do. The context here is not pleasing men by watering down the Gospel. Paul LOVED people that much that he would noever preach another gospel just so they wouldn't get offended. Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Gal 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Gal 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. In this next scripture Paul talks of pleasing. The context here is not preaching but eating, and the eating of food offered to idols was an issue he had to address. The custom at that time was to make offerings to their gods and they would bring the best they had. A nice pot roast or tenderloin which would end up in the resturants for the people to eat. Paul was talking about not doing or saying anything etc(that to you would seem right) that would cause offence to another believer and which may lead to them leaving the faith. So in eating/saying/drinking..then we are to please but in preaching the Gospel of Christ we are not to do it in a way that will please.ie not watered down. Hope this is helpful yosepy |

3 | What is a generatonal curse? | Gal 1:9 | yosepy | 75762
It is important to listen to what your Heavenly Father says to you through His Word. If what a person says can't be backed up with scripture and the context of the surrounding scriptures also back it up then I would not take his word. Generational curses are said to be a curse on a person for their ancestors sins. As far as I have found, there is no scriptual backing for this past the point of Ezekiel 33:11-20. Here God Himself speaks and sets the people straight. The context here is one paying for their own sins untill forgiven. And not using righteous to get away with doing whatever you like. When you read the Word. Read it prayerfully saying, "Precious Lord, please show me what this means....does it really mean that...." He will show you. He loves you. Never forget that. Some think a Gen curse is like this.....Your brought up in a poor family and when you are an adult you have a poverty mentality. That is only our upbringing forming our heart, beliefs and thinking. All that can be changed by finding a promise in the word from God and every time a negative thought crosses your mind then say, "Lord I thank you that your word says......" That dear friend is standing on the word and walking in faith. I don't know it all, of course. However, What I do know is that God is a GOOD God all the time to me. May God richly bless you Yosepy |

4 | Is it the Lord gave trials and test us? | James | yosepy | 77228
Wow, This is a question that many christians need to grasp and know the answer, for it will set them free. Know first of all that our God is a good God to you all the time! Think of a good natural father and know how God must be so much better. In James ch 1 lies the answer to this question. Trials come to every person on the earth and most are caused by our own lack of Godly wisdom, which differs from mans wisdom. If we allow them to, we may become a more perfect person, with better qualities and experience to help others who are finding it hard. Jam 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Jam 1:3 Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience. Jam 1:4 But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. I am not sure of what you mean by test us. But the Word says Jam 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: Jam 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Jam 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Read the Word of God prayerfuly and humbly before the Lord and He will show you things. It is one thing to Love Him and another to know Him. May God in all his love show you many truths about himself and you. God Bless Yosepy |

5 | Author of James, brother of Jesus? | James | yosepy | 77229
I would like to know, Gomar, why you ask this question. You don't have to tell me of course. There are lots of Bibles and Commentaries that will give you plenty of reading on the subject. Most think that the James who wrote James is the Lords brother and also the same James mentioned in Acts 15:13 holding a prominent position among the elders. He seems to be the leader as he makes the final decision. I would think that that James would have the wisdom to write the book of James. Nevertheless it is a great book and worth the studying, but read and study it prayfully. May Godly wisdom be yours Yosepy |

6 | James is contradicting Apostle Paul | James | yosepy | 77234
Herby, What are the differences between the two works? Does one say, 'I dont need faith!'? If so, is it right? Does the other say, 'I am not to be separated from my dearest and closest companion FAITH, without whom I would be useless!' If these are true then you already know the answer. Read the Word of God prayerfuly and as you do, ask God to show you its secrets. I do not believe there are any contradictions in the Bible. If there appears to be, I need to ask the Lord to open my eyes to the truth. To ask this Question is a good thing and shows a real concern for the things of God and his word. God bless you Herby Yosepy |
