1 | Wife learning to control tongue......... | Bible general Archive 1 | popdzl | 38696
The epistle of James has a wealth of wisdom on controling the tongue. The Book of Proverbs is also a vast storehouse on righteous living. Consider both of these (especially Prov 27:19) when having discussions with your husband or anyone else for that matter. Also, Joyce Meyer has a book out called, "Me and My Big Mouth," which expounds on the significance and practice (all bibilically-based) of controling the mouth.

3 | Questions on the Divine Nature | NT general Archive 1 | popdzl | 85721
A believer CAN NOT partake of the divine nature of Christ without a genuine relationship with the Lord; and still this relationship must be a proper servant-master relationship. Even still, a believer must become a disciple and be willing to forsake all that s/he has in the world. We are conformed to the image of the Lord through what we ingest supernaturally from God. This is why we are admonished to think properly; why we are to remember that we do not struggle against people but against powers and principalities; why we can do all things through God who strengthens us, etc. The natural world is the evidence of the spiritual; it is a copy of sorts. So, as we "ingest" the Holy Spirit, the evidence of this will be our actions, thoughts, and speech in the natural world. Personally, I feel that communion is "heart to heart" but that the ritual is the evidence of our servant/master relationship in that He commanded us to do it in remeberance of Him. |

4 | where can i locate jehovah, jehovah jir | Genesis | popdzl | 37305
Those terms are in Genesis scattered throughout. The stories of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob contain most of the uses of those terms. Pay attention to the naming of wells, encampments, and cities which any of these three may have founded or visited. As God would manifest something, they would name the place after the manifestation, e.g. One city, Luz, was renamed Beth-el,the house of God, because Jacob saw angels ascending to and descending from heaven and spoke with God there.
5 | Who else besides Cain, Adam, and Eve? | Genesis | popdzl | 16209
Yes there were other people. Adam was created before the end of the third day,Gen 2:5-7, however he did not live on the earth he lived in Eden. Gen 1:26-31 shows that the rest of mankind was created on the sixth day and inhabited the earth.
6 | Doesn't God hear us always? | Gen 1:1 | popdzl | 37241
Yes God hears us always. The problem is that we are not always able to hear or interpret his answers. Thus, we feel that either he is not able to hear us or is not answering us. Unforgiveness is the result of a hard heart which would not allow one to hear any response from God.
7 | why three days? and not three hours | Gen 40:13 | popdzl | 43107
Three is the number of divine manifestation. On the tird day, Joseph's prophecy came true, on the third day, God created the seed and fruit bearing things of the earth, the third tribe of Israel (Levi) are the priests of the Lord, on the third day, Jacob, Simeon, and Levi laid waste to all the males of the city (Gen 34:25), etc. He had to spend three days in order to manifest His prophecy and to show that it is of a divine nature.
8 | Sin defined by gentiles? | Ex 20:2 | popdzl | 43094
The other nations (and individuals) were judged by how they treated Israel when Israel was being obedient to the will of God. If they received favorable judgement, there was often a condition which they had to follow in order to receive a blessing from God. Compare Rahab in Joshua (6:17), Naaman in II Kings (5:1 ff), the Amalekites in I Samuel (15:2), the Kenites in I Samuel (15:6), and Solomon's dedication of the temple in I Kings (8:41-43). However, due to the prophecy of Isaiah fulfilled by Jesus (Mt 12:17-21), the judgement of gentiles is now based on faith in Jesus and works towards all people.
9 | why were Eli's sons permitted to do this | 1 Samuel | popdzl | 37242
As a man of God, Eli only did God's will. It was not Eli's duty to "save" his sons. Only they-his sons, could do that by stopping their wicked acts, repenting, and following after the Lord. Just as later, Samuel could neither prevent Israel from demanding a king other than God nor the king from disobeying God's commandments.
10 | Is the image in 1Sam. 28 really Samuel? | 1 Samuel | popdzl | 37245
Yes, it was actually Samuel. At this point, the Holy Spirit had departed from Saul, thus the Lord had no reason to test him, and as we see, the words of Samuel's spirit actually came true.
11 | What was Saul's problem? | 1 Samuel | popdzl | 37247
Saul knew that his days as king were numbered (1Sam 15:23,26,28) and figured that David would be the one to replace him. It-the idea of losing his throne, showed that Saul had become enslaved to the flesh and to worldly things. None of what happened between Saul and David would have occurred if Saul would have had let go of the throne when the time came; instead he tried to prevent or overthrow God's word. This act-preventing God's word from manifesting into truth, is what led to the ruin of him and his posterity.
12 | was jonathan faithful to GOD AND WHY | 1 Sam 15:23 | popdzl | 85799
Jonathan was faithful to God because Saul had been rejected and David had been chosen. Once David had been chosen, Jonathan paid the cost of discipleship by forsaking his father (in matters concerning David) and thus remaining faithful to God. Jonathon's role was to keep God's servant safe from the king at his court.

14 | Why punish the man of God? | 1 Kings | popdzl | 37252
This passage of scripture allows us to see that we who have heard from God must follow through with what He has spoken unless He tells us otherwise. The prophet was not the original courier of the word to the man of God, therefore the man of God should not have listened to him even if he said that an angel told him it was OK for him to do so. If he had been uncertain, he could have asked God. The punishment for priests and knowers of the word is always more severe than for general believers and non-believers. God allowed the prophet to be used (either by Him or Satan) to test the man of God.
15 | My question is did Solomon die in or out | 1 Kings | popdzl | 37255
He was on the outs. 1Kings 11:11-13 shows that God has brought a judgement down on Solomon. He was merciful only because of His promises to David. Verses 4-8 of the same chapter say that Solomon turned his heart away from the Lord and performed acts which were wicked in His sight. God is not able to have a relationship with anyone who turns there heart away from Him, cf. Saul (1Sam 15:22-23).
16 | Explain Hebrew letters used in Psalm 119 | Psalm | popdzl | 37315
Hebrew letters are holy symbols. Their significance in Ps 119 is that each "paragraph" is a meditation on the symbolical meaning of the letter. Therefore, in the meditation on aleph, which means "ox", we have imagery of being directed or led on a path much as an ox is directed or led by its master. Here is a list of the meanings of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. You can use it to draw your own images: Aleph- ox Beth- house Gimel- camel Daleth- door He- window Vau- hook, pin Zayin- sword or armor Cheth- fence, enclosure Teth- serpent Yod- hand Kaph- fist Lamed- ox goad Mem- water Nun- fish Samekh- prop, foundation Ayin- eye Peh- mouth Tzaddi- fishhook Quoph- ear. back of the neck Resh- head Shin- tooth Tau- cross |

17 | WAS JESUS GOD ON EARTH TOO OR JUSTMAN | Ps 8:5 | popdzl | 38287
Jesus is not Good; He is righteous. I believe that the scripture is referring to the fact that Jesus walked the earth in the flesh. In doing so, He was made a little lower than the angels because the flesh is man's sinful nature.
18 | What about those who never hear gospel? | Prov 24:12 | popdzl | 85852
Does he go to hell? Who can say? But, Pr 24:12 supports the idea that God considers ALL things in judgement of our works. Jer 32:40 supports the idea that the word of God is in the heart of us all. Whether we listen to it is another matter entirely. Ro 1:19-20 tells that there is no excuse for the non-belief in the existence of God. Meditating on these three scripture alone, one can come to a myriad of conclusions about the condition of the soul of one who has not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, but the bottom line is that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No man can come to the father except through Him, but does this mean that an unhearing native is damned to hell? My God is the most merciful, holy one of Israel and as such, considers all things. But to answer your question on its face, no he does not go to hell, although, the skeptic who posed the question may be another story. |

20 | MAny are called - not All are called??? | Matt 22:14 | popdzl | 85665
Ainimoja, The translation of the original text as given in the KJV is fairly accurate; there is not much lateral movement for the key word "many" of your question. However, I have previously meditated on this verse and have been given an understanding which may help you. Read the whole book of Isaiah because it is a blueprint of the way God wills to do in giving us salvation; it also gives much insight into the teachings of the Gospels. As you read, notice in Isaiah 6:10 all eyes are blinded and all ears are closed. In Isaiah 35:1-6 the ears and eyes are opened of those who trusted in the Lord; the lame walk, and the dumb speak. After reading Isaiah, look at Jeremiah 31:33; here God has placed His word in our hearts. Now go to Romans 10:17. We see here that the faith we need in Isaiah 35 comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (which was placed in our heart). Therefore, only many are called because not ALL have the faith that is necessary. |
