1 | Unbaptized children | Bible general Archive 1 | jg8ball | 723
Baptism has not nothing to do with getting into heaven. The only way to make it is to truely believe that Jesus died for your sins and was resurrected. Once you believe this, baptism in an appropriate next step as an outward symbol of your faith. Children (and I believe mentally handicapped adults) on the otherhand that are not able to understand what it means to believe go to heaven.
2 | did the wine from the water make you dr | Bible general Archive 1 | jg8ball | 989
I believe that the wine of today is generally stronger than it was in those days but the Bible doesn't really say how strong it was. It does say though that it was the finest wine. |

3 | Is there an age of accountability? | Bible general Archive 1 | jg8ball | 1183
Joseph, it looks like you could use a little help. I've tangled with these guys plenty of times and they get pretty irate when you show them scripturally that there interpretations don't hold up. Back to your question about the age of accountablity, I had not realized that the Calvins believed that children were not saved. If this is true it's rather sad they could actually believe this. I always thought God was a loving God. I really need to get home (I'm late for dinner) but I will try to investigate this topic tonight. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. There is one verse that Jesus tells us to have faith like the children but want to research it more to make sure it applies. By the way, JVH0212 really gets upset when you use the term Calvin. He says he is not a Calvin but I found he does believe more in the things Calvins believe verses the Arminians. I believe more in the Arminians beliefs but admit there are some Calvinistic beliefs that are sound. After all they do believe Jesus died for our sins. I guess I use the terms too loosly but find them handy to refer to one belief versus another. Ok, I'm real late now. later. |

4 | Is there an age of accountability? | Bible general Archive 1 | jg8ball | 1198
As far as an actual age, the Bible doesn't specify, and I believe rightly so. Each child is different and "understands" at a different age. To say that there is a certain age (ie: 8 years 3 months) that a child would no longer be saved would make no sense. I believe (based on our God be a loving God) that He would not send any child, that is unable to understand what it means to be saved, to Hell. I also believe this holds true for adults that are mentally unable to comprehend this for themselves. Your statement about Calvins beliving that children are lost is a suprise to me. I can't believe how someone could interpret that let alone belive that. The closest scriptual basis I could find is the following: Matt 18:2-4 "He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." |

5 | Did Solomon and Sheba have a child? | Bible general Archive 1 | jg8ball | 1205
Good question. I saw the same show and just took for granted they had a son -- my bad. I just did a bunch of searching and could not find anything stating that they had a son. The closest I found that could be remotely interpreted that way was 2 Chronicles 9:12 "King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for; he gave her more than she had brought to him." although I don't think I would interpret it that way. The host may have researched documents about the Queen of Sheba which may have implied that. I don't know. I just did a search at www.google.com on "queen of sheba" solomon son and found many sites that talk about their son. Whether it's true or not is for you to decide. Good luck. |

7 | Moses killed why was he still choosen to | Bible general Archive 1 | jg8ball | 31186
1) Moses killed an Egyptian that was beating (possibly to death) a Hebrew. 2) There have been many cases where God chose to use people of what we might perceive as "questionable behavior". This just goes to show that no matter what you may have done in the past, it's not too late for God to bail you out and help you get back on track. |

9 | what are women to do without a husband? | Bible general Archive 1 | jg8ball | 38366
Get a husband. (just kidding) Biblically, I would recommend talking to other women and asking them for guidance. Today's world (assuming you live in the U.S. or other modern countries) I think you would be able to talk to any friend versed in the Bible. If you're not comfortable with that, there is always sites like this you can post your questions. Please make sure though that you back up what you hear by examining what the Bible has to say for yourself. |

10 | JESUS'S DEATH | NT general Archive 1 | jg8ball | 635
I believe that Jesus died for ALL humanity and ALL humanity has the opportunity for salvation because of this great sacrifice. Acts 2:21 "And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:8-13 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." 1 Tim 2:3-6 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time. |

12 | What was the mark on Cain put by God? | Genesis | jg8ball | 509
I don't think it was ever specified as to what type of mark it was. It must have been something the people would have known about though. Why do you ask?
13 | How long did Adam and Eve live in Eden | Genesis | jg8ball | 682
I can think of two posiblities. 1) Less than 128 years (and probably not too much less than that). When Adam and Eve left Eden, they had Abel and Cain. When Adam was 130 Years old, they had Seth. 2) Who really knows? It could be that they didn't start counting Adam and Eve's age until after they left Eden (after all they didn't age in Eden) so it could be they had Seth 180 years after leaving and had abel the first year upon being forced out. I tend to believe the second option but really can't say for sure. |

Scripture makes it sound like God evicted them pretty quickly after eating from the Tree of Knowledge.
15 | did the cannaanites become black | Gen 4:15 | jg8ball | 782
The verse you referenced is incorrect. If you are referring to the mark put on Cain, son of Adam, then this has nothing to do with the Canaanites. The bible does not specify what the mark was. It could have been a mark on the forehead, on the hand, it could have been a overall skin color change (black, white, purple, green or whatever). No one can seriously say for sure. I would highly doubt though that the black race (or, more correctly, group - after all we are all of the human race) of people were cursed. If you are talking about Gen 9:25 when Noah cursed Canaan (his grandson) which later his descendents became the canaanites, the Bible does not mention what the curse was other than he will be slaves to his brothers. If you are somehow interpreting that because they were made slaves, they are black then you have assumed way too much. |

16 | Who were the son's of God in Job? | Gen 6:4 | jg8ball | 247
The NIV translates the "sons of God" to "Angels". The Hebrew word used is Ben-elohiym and roughly translates to "A group, sons of, or descendents of a mighty one or God" Because they were there with God and Satan would imply Angels rather than man. The Nephilim mentioned in Gen 6:4 could potentially refer to these Angels. This could explain why the children of the Nephilim and women were bigger and stronger than man. (also see Num 13:33, Num 13:28, Deut 1:28, Josh 11:22 and Josh 14:12 in this order)
17 | Covenant to Abraham revoked? | Gen 17:7 | jg8ball | 1653
I don't remember the bible talking about canceling the old covenant in favor of the new. I've always interpreted as the new covenant grafted the gentiles onto the old covenant so that all would be included in God's plan. There are many verses that mention Jews and Gentiles... I don't recall anything implying any sort of cancellation. I was always told that contracts could be broken but not God's covenants (of course this could be oppinion). If you know of any verses that people use to state otherwise, I'd be curious to see them.
18 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | jg8ball | 408
No sin is too great for God to forgive.
19 | Scripture, por favor? | Ex 20:13 | jg8ball | 422
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Note that it doesn't say some of our sins but implies all our sins. Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. If God could forgive the people that crucified His son, I don't think there's nothing He couldn't forgive. Hope that helps. |
