8 | Who were the firstborn? | Bible general Archive 4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 196878
Hi Jim, To add to what brother Hank posted, Scripture also speaks of Israel as the firstborn (Exodus 4:22) and also of Christ as the firstborn (Hebrews 1:6, Hebrews 12:23, Romans 8:29, Colossians 1:15, Colossians 1:18, Revelation 1:5) Steve |

9 | Would Jesus follow this scripture? | Bible general Archive 4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 197131
ssongssu, This is God's law, how could it be possible that your way "Wouldn't it be more christian to find out what were the motives of the murderer and try to fix his problems?" be more Christian as you say then God's way? Perhaps you misunderstand what the passage is saying? God created man in His image! He is stating here the value He places on His creation so to speak. To expound a bit more, He is saying man is not to kill man because he was created by God and in God's image and therefore mans life was of great value. So if man takes the life of another, by man his life shall be taken as well. It was meant to be a punishment for mankind destroying that which God had created in His image. For who is man that he has any right to even touch that which is God's unless God Himself grants him that right? I hope this helps! But I must also say this, regardless if you cannot understand His word and/or find it hard to accept as is, you must keep in mind that it is His word and regardless if you agree or not, His way is perfect, pure and holy! He alone is the creator and He alone sets the standards of Holiness and righteousness! Your way and mine could never measure up to His! May He bless you, Steve |

13 | a personal relationship with god | Bible general Archive 4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 202454
amos, Looking at all your post it appears you are always asking home work questions. Is that what you are doing? If so, wouldn't it be better to do a little study of your own or at least engage in discussion on the question instead of just looking for the easy way out? In light of your most recent question this might be the best time for some hands on to see what a personal relationship with God is all about. Steve |

PS. Let me add, it's worth the effort to develop your personal relationship with God. Do you know Him? Have you been saved? Did you know your Creator wants a personal relationship with you? He does! Steve |

Greetings praidup! Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Consider this if you would. Do you think it wise for you to try and explain this to them without a full understanding of it yourself? I would think not. You could do much more harm then good. Take this for what it's worth. If you understood all you needed to about this subject you would not be asking this question. You would already know the answer and how to proceed. God bless, Steve |

18 | Women in power? | Bible general Archive 4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 208458
Greetings willownanny! Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! We try not to discuss denominational issues here. The Terms of Use on this web site has some rules of engagement on the issue so I would encourage you to read it and understand it for the benefit of the forum and yourself :-) The forum is a Study Bible forum so we try and stick with that and not denominational issues which have a tendency some times to create conflict. You can however do a search on this forum and find scripture regarding women in the church which have been discussed in the past. You might want to try that and see what can be learned from those past discussions. Hope this helps! Steve |

19 | Did He mean today or someday? | Bible general Archive 4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 208884
DW, It doesn’t matter about the punctuation. That is not what determines the meaning of the passage. The JW’s teach there is no intermediate state of the dead and no eternal punishment for the lost despite the clear teaching in scripture that refutes them. This is why they use this argument. However, Scripture clearly teaches there is an eternity for both the lost and saved. Everlasting punishment for the lost and life eternal for the saved. (Matthew 25:46, Luke 16:19-31, Luke 23:43, Hebrews 12:9, Revelation 6:9-11, Revelation 14:9-11, Revelation 20:10)! Steve |

20 | Most accurate translation of Bible? | Bible general Archive 4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 210727
Greetings SAnsel! Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! I have both the NASB and ESV. I like both but find myself using the NASB 99.9 percent of the time both in teaching and study. I know you were not looking for opinions but just thought I would offer that anyway :-) You can read about the NASB translation on this web site. Look at the top of the page and click on the menu item labeled "Bible Information". Select the different options from the drop down menu to read about the NASB translation. Bottom line, I think you would do fine with either the NASB or ESV. If I was going to give you one as a gift it would be the NASB :-) By the way, there are several sites on line that you can use to compare the two translations. www.biblegateway.com or www.blueletterbible.org are a couple that come to mind. Hope this helps! Steve |
