1 | Why the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem | Gen 1:1 | Songbirdca | 81180
I think to fulfill prophecy. You will notice in Matt. 21:1-11 that Jesus sends the disciples ahead to get a donkey and her colt. He knew where they were. He sent the disciples to the next village to find them. When they brought them to Jesus they placed their own cloaks on them and Jesus sat on them. But what happens next? As he approaches Jerusalem the people throw their own cloaks on the ground for Jesus to walk on. They praise him up and down! Jesus knew he had to come into Jerusalem on a Donkey, that would fulfill prophecy, but there was no way he could make the people see him as a King and adore him like they did. They praised and adored him all on their own. So maybe, it was a little bit of both, to fulfill the prophecy and because he needed to know if the people would recognize him.

3 | So she should only be eating fruit? | Gen 2:16 | Songbirdca | 152303
Clearly, God intended for mankind to be vegetarian as you can see from the following verses and note that it's not just fruit, but "every seed-bearing plant". Genesis 2:9 says this: And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Then in Genesis 2:16,17 it says: And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; (17) but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." In Genesis 1:29 this is what God intended for Adam and Eve to eat. 29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. Even the animals were to be vegetarian as noted in this verse from Genesis 1:30. "And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so. |

4 | What was the true meaning of livestock? | Gen 2:16 | Songbirdca | 152304
The best translation for the word livestock is the King James Version. The word livestock is actually cattle. They didn't use them for anything except to care for them. Remember, God originally made the animals as Adam's companions. Then later on He created Eve. Genesis 2:18-22 18 Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." 19 Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. 21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. |

5 | beware of fortune tellers? | Deut 18:9 | Songbirdca | 125535
The Bible says, that the Lord finds divination (fortune telling) or sorcery, interpreting omens, engaging in witchcraft, or casting spells, or anyone who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead detestable. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD
6 | what is God's way of doing n being right | Matt 6:33 | Songbirdca | 125440
Jesus said to Love the Lord Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. And to love our neighbours as ourselves. He said there were no greater commandments then these two. So what is God's way of doing and being right? First of all, by Christ's great example we can see from this verse that He put others before himself. He died for you while you were yet a sinner (Rom. 5:8). Jesus had a servant's heart. We would be wise to follow His example. Put Christ first in your life. Seek His kingdom in all that you do may it be for His glory. Do not seek your own interests but those of God. You will learn how to know God's will and please Him by reading the handbook He left for you. His Holy Word. Read it daily and meditate on it, let it soak into you so that you walk in it. The bible has God's words and truths in it and you find God's will and His ways by reading it. |

7 | Was Luke one of the 12? | Luke 1:2 | Songbirdca | 81425
Luke was a Gentile believer and a doctor and was not part of the original twelve. Jesus did not find him, but Paul did. It is probable that he was converted in Troas. Acts 17:1 On Paul's third visit to Philippi (20:5,6) we again meet with Luke, who probably had spent all the intervening time in that city, a period of seven or eight years. From this time Luke was Paul's constant companion during his journey to Jerusalem (20:6-21:18). He again disappears from view during Paul's imprisonment at Jerusalem and Caesarea, and only reappears when Paul sets out for Rome (27:1), whither he accompanies him (28:2, 12-16), and where he remains with him till the close of his first imprisonment (Philemon 1:24; Col. 4:14). The last notice of the "beloved physician" is in 2 Tim. 4:11. There are many passages in Paul's epistles, as well as in the writings of Luke, which show the extent and accuracy of his medical knowledge. |

9 | speaking in tongues 1cor.12:1coming | 1 Cor 12:13 | Songbirdca | 125211
It's ironic that Christians have argued so much about the baptism of the Spirit, when the apostle Paul used it as one of his main arguments to prove that we are all united in Christ! Some churches believe that the baptism of the Spirit is an experience different than initial salvation. They see it as a second experience that gives a person much greater spiritual power and boldness, and the ability to live a more victorious Christian life. Some groups teach that the baptism is accompanied by such signs as speaking in tongues. The Bible does not actually use the term "baptism of the Spirit" very often. John the Baptist predicted that Jesus would come and baptize with the Spirit and with fire (Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33). In Acts 1:5, Jesus recalled John's words, and told His followers that they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from then. The spectacular events of the day of Pentecost ten days later seem to be the obvious fulfillment of His words (see Acts 2). The only other mention in Acts (11:16) refers back to Pentecost, explaining that Cornelius, the first Gentile convert, had an experience very similar to the Pentecost manifestations. While these passages make it clear that the believers in Acts 2 experienced a baptism of the Spirit, we do not find a clear explanation of what that baptism means. Nor do we know whether there were other works of the Spirit that were happening at the same time. The clearest explanation of the baptism appears in I Corinthians 12:13. Paul is dealing with a situation where the Corinthian church was splitting into factions over the issue of spiritual gifts. Overemphasis on certain spectacular gifts had led to the attitude that some people had the most desirable gifts, while others were deficient. In response, Paul exclaims, "We're all one! Don't divide up into cliques!" And to prove his point, he explains, "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit" (I Corinthians 12:13). His main point? All believers share the reality of being baptized by the Spirit. What does it do? It makes us part of the body of Christ, the Church. When did it happen? If every believer has been baptized in the Spirit, then it happens at the moment you accept Christ and become a Christian. We are all given gifts (baptized in the Spirit) when we become Christians. Many of our gifts differ. They differ so that the body of Christ can be built up. I myself have gifts of discernment, helps, service and administration. The gift of tongues as you will notice when reading 1 Cor. 12, another one of those gifts. It is an excellent chapter on what gifts God gave to his people. Tongues has been vastly distorted by some churches today, to mean something it isn't. It has given some people the impression that they are better then other Christians. When in actual fact, tongues were used at Pentecost as a sign to those many "nations" that were in Jerusalem at that time. Each indivual heard the gospel in their own tongue. Unfortunately, some churches today, think that speaking in tongues is a sign that you are a Christian. It is not. They forget the reason why the gift was given in the first place and end up confusing people. It would be ridiculous for everyone to have the gift of tongues, because then the body of Christ would not grow. We are given gifts to help each other. Therefore, tongues is not a sign that a person does not have the Holy Spirit. Tongues is just another gift. |

10 | What Can The BLOOD OF JESUS do For Me? | Eph 1:7 | Songbirdca | 125444
The blood of Jesus has saved you. In Him you have forgiveness of sins. His blood has purified you and made you whole again. It is because of His shed blood that we can be saved from God's wrath. There are so many things that Christ's shed blood has done for us that I would have no room to mention them all. But the most important reason is that now we am free from slavery to sin. We have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. We have been made new in Christ. Praise God!
11 | Explain spiritual gifts ? ? | Eph 4:7 | Songbirdca | 99443
Spiritual gifts are the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. They are given to all who have accepted Christ as Savior. Everyone that is a born-again Christian has at least one gift, some have more than one, but ALL are important to the body of Christ. They are given to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (eph. 4:12-13) There are two kinds of gifts - speaking gifts and serving gifts. Speaking gifts are the gifts such as apostleship, prophecy, evangelism and pastor-teacher. Serving gifts are those like helps, service, exhortation, giving, mercy, tongues, administration, etc. there are a few more. The point of receiving gifts from God is so that we will be able to function in a healthy way as the body of Christ. The gifts were given for the church so that we will all help each other grow in Christ. It is a sad church indeed that does not allow its members to make use of their gifts. For instance, if I have the gift of teaching but I am put in a service position (say greeting people as the come through the door), I am not using my gift the way God intended. |

12 | Is a woman to "obey" her husband? | Eph 5:22 | Songbirdca | 125315
It is God’s design for the home. Just as governments, organizations, and businesses must have a head, so must a marriage and a family. God has given the husband the position as the leader of the home. But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:3) Therefore, wives are to submit to their husband’s headship. Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. (Colossians 3:18) Submission is a matter of the wife’s obedience to God. The word “submit” in koine Greek, the language of the New Testament, means to be under orders. This does not mean that a believing woman should be a doormat, but that by willingly submitting to her husband’s leadership she is obeying God. Just as Christ is equal to God and yet willingly submitted Himself to God’s authority (Philippians 2:5-8), so the Christian woman is equal to her husband, but should choose to submit herself to his headship in their marriage. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:5-8) Christian wives are to submit not only to Christian husbands, but also to unbelieving husbands. In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. (1 Peter 3:1-2) Submission is to be done with a meek and quiet spirit, as unto the Lord, with an in-wrought grace of the soul that sees God as sovereign over all, knowing that everything that happens is coming through His hands of love, and working together to achieve His purpose—to make one more like His Son, Jesus Christ. The only way a wife can truly and biblically submit to her husband is to let the Holy Spirit fill and control her (Ephesians 5:18, 21). Her commitment is to be to the Lord. He will give the grace to be the wife that He wants a believer to be. Submission should be as unto the Lord. If a husband tells his wife to do something that is in conflict with what the Word of God says, then she is to obey the Lord rather than her husband. The higher authority of God rules. In such cases she should respond to her husband in honesty and with a sweet spirit, committing herself to God and trusting in His sovereignty without complaint. Sometimes the end result will be that God will draw the unbelieving husband to Himself through the believing wife’s example. For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. (1 Peter 2:21-24) |

13 | If all sacrafices ended, then why Acts 2 | Heb 9:1 | Songbirdca | 152277
MJH, it appears within the context of this chapter that Paul participated in the purification ceremony to show his fidelity to the law. We know that he paid for the expenses of the four men to have their heads shaved (as is the custom for a Nazarite vow), what we do not know is if he actually took the vow himself or merely went to be purified. As for the sacrifies (or offering) you mentioned that was part of the Levitical law. An offering had to be made at the end of the purification. And Paul was trying to show the Jews (who were about to kill him) that he was just as religious as they were). The sacrifices did not end with the death and resurrection of Jesus. They ended with the destruction of the temple. |
