1 | 24 hour days are based on what? | Gen 1:2 | Lourdes Figueroa | 62417
Taken out of the NIV THERE WAS EVENING, AND THERE WAS MORNING. This designation is repeated six times in this chapter (vv. 5,8,13,19,23,31). The Hebrew word for day is yom. It normally means a twenty-four hour day (cf. Gen. 7:17; Mat. 17:1), or the daylight portion of the twenty-four hours ("day" as distinct from "night"). But it also can refer to a time period of undetermined lenght (e.g., "harvest time," Pro. 25:13). Many believe the creation days were twenty-four hour days because they are described as consisting of an "evening" and "morning" (v.5; cf. Exo.20:11). Others believe that "evening" and "morning" simply mean that a particular evening brought an end to that step pf creation and the next morning brought a new beginning. |

3 | sons of God and daughters of man gen 6 1 | Gen 6:2 | Lourdes Figueroa | 62817
According to Full Life Study Bible (NIV) The "sons of God " most likely refer to men who were descendents of the godly line of Seth (cf. Deut. 14:1; 32:5; Psalm 73:15; Hoseas 1:10); they began to intermarry with the "daughters of men," i.e, women from the ungodly family of Cain. The theory that the "sons of God" were angels is less likely in veiw of Jesus" words that angels do not marry (Mat. 22:30; Mark 12:25). This union of the godly with the unrighteuos led to "wickedness" (v.5), i.e., the godly became preocupied with evil. As a result the the earth became corrupt and filled with violence (vv.11-13) Now Seth did not have a son until 235 years after the creation; and his son did not have a son until 325 year after the creation (Gen 5:3,6,9). Where did these "sons" come from? They could not have been "sons of Seth", for these marriages took place when men began to multiply - in the very beginning of the race before Seth had sons of marriageable age. The term "sons of God" proves that they were the product of God, not of Seth. They were the fallen angels of 1 Peter 3:19; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6-7. See also the Septuagint; Josephus, p.36; Anti-Nicene Fathers, Vol. VIII, p.273; and Giants and sons of God, p.62 As you can see the "sons of God: refer to different group from either the "men" and daughters". The phrase occurs else where in the Bible and clearly mean "angels." Job 1:6 presents Satan and his angels coming into the presence of the Lord for an audience with His Majesty. Satan's angels are called "the sons of God," with the suggestion that these angelic beings were once holy ones who served the Lord, but were now allied with the evil one. Genesis assumes the existence of the good angels of the Lord (3:24) and of Satan and his angels. It also assumes that the latter are already fallen and under God's judgment (1:2). In 3:1, the serpent (Satan) was already at work as the father of lies (John 8:44). Here it appears that some of Satan's angels, spirit beings, took on human form (3:24) and, out of a perverted lust, seduced women. In response, God reserved these angels for speacil judgment (2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6) and cleansed the earth itself (with the Flood). |

4 | what are the ten commandments? | Ex 20:2 | Lourdes Figueroa | 62493
The Ten Commandments, recorded in Exodus 20:1-17 and also in Deut.5:6-21 were written by God himself on two stone tablets and given to Moses and the Israelites (Exo.31:18 "When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.")(Exo.32:16 "The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.")(Deut. 4:13; 10:4). Keeping the commandments provided a way for Israel to respond righteously to God in gratitude for their deliverance out of Egypt; at the same time, such obedience was required in order to remain in the promised land (Deut 4:1,14) |

6 | Jesus' name baptism? | Acts 2:38 | Lourdes Figueroa | 62536
God gave Jesus authority to do miracles, then Jesus gave us that same authority. And in His authority we are to baptized in the name of, or by the authority of the three persons. Some agure that these are not names, but the dictionary says that the word NAME is "any word: or "title" by which any person or thing is known. This is not just any Father, any Son, or any Holy Spirit, but it is "the Father" of Jesus Christ, and "the Son" of the Father, and "the Holy Spirit" the third person of the Divine Trinity. Any Bible reader would know who these three persons are if mention by these names in any scripture. Those who believe in Christ and the gospel are to be "baptized" with water. This represents their covenant pledge to renounce immorality, the world and their own snful nature, and to unreservedly commit themselves to Christ and his kingdom purposes (Acts 22:16). Christ will be with his obedient followers in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit (v.20; Acts 1:23; 18:20). They are to go to all natons and witness only after they are "clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8) |

7 | Please read the 8th verse as well. | 2 Thessalonians | Lourdes Figueroa | 62693
2 Thes. 2:7 "For the mystery (hidden truth) of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way." In grammatical terms, what is restraining the "Man of Sin" is neuter, referring to an impersonal force, while "He who now restrains" is masculine, suggest a personal figure. Paul apparently expected his readers to understand what or whom he meant (since he had given them instruction when with them), but today's readers should hesitate to clarify by dogmatic opinion what stands unclear in the biblical text itself (it is always helpful to reread 2 Peter 3:15,16 and be remind that even one apostle found difficult passages in the writings of another). The restainer is mentioned nowhere else in the Bible. among interpretations proposed for the restraining power that keeps the Antichrist in check have been 1) Paul's incomplete ministry: the son of perdition would emerge once paul's mission is complete; 2) the Holy Spirit, who keeps things under control until the ripe exchatological moment; 3) God Himself, since it is evil that is held back; 4) the Jewish state at the time; 5) the institution of the human government. The last alternative has in its favor Paul's own experience of benefits gained from Roman citizenship (Acts 16:37; 22:26-29). In addition the neuter expression "what is restraining: could refer to the Roman system of government itself and the masculine "he who is now restraining" to the then-reigning Roman emperor, Claudius, whose tenure (A.D.41-54) was one of the saner eras in Roman imperial history. "The mystery of lawlessness," which was in Paul's day "already at work," need not be taken as some deep secret. Good and evil alike occur in the world. As the final Day of the Lord approaches, when evil rouses and the limiting forces are withdrawn, "the lawlessness one will be revealed", but-as made clear a generation later in the Book of Revelation-the result will be the final destruction of the Antichrist and all the forces of evil, with God and Christ in the final triumph. Meanwhile, there are many who "believe the lie, because they did not believe the truth". People will believe something. Now the hinderer of lawlessness what is it? 1) It is something already known (v.6) 2) It now hinders lawlessness (v.6-7) 3) It is strong enough to prevent the revelation of the Antichrist (v.6-8) 4) It will hinder lawlessness until it is removed from the earth (v.7-8) 5) It is called "he" (v.7) 6) It will be removed from the earth before the second advent(v.7-8) 7) It will not be here when Christ comes to destroy the Antichrist (v.7-8) The hinderer in one of three things: 1) Governments (Rom 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13) 2) The church (Mat.5:13; 2 Cor. 10:4-7) 3) The Holy Spirit (John 16:7-15) The hinderer of lawlessness must be the one that will be taken out of the world before Antichrist can be revealed (v.6-8). Will government be taken out of this world? NO, because Antichrist reigns over many kingdoms (Dan 7:24; 11:40-45), and the other kings reign over the rest of the earth all during the time the hinderer of lawlessness is removed (Rev. 11:15; 16:13-16). Will it be the Holy Spirit? No, for He will be here all through the tribulation and forever (John 14:16; Acts 2:16-21; Rev. 12:17 with 19:10; Zech 12:10-13:1). Multitudes will be saved by the Holy Spirt during the tribulation, as now (acts 2:16-21; Rev 6:9-11; 7:1-21; 12:5,17: 15:2-4; 20:4-6). It is the Church. It will be rapture before Antichrist comes and this is the only one of the hinderers of lawlessness that will be removed from the earth (1 Thes 4:16) |
