Exodus 6:3 states: "And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by My Name JEHOVAH was I not known to them." In fact, the Name "Jehovah" was not used from the very beginning; however, the full meaning of it was not made known unto Israel until it was time to fulfill the Promises and Covenants with them as a nation. Psalms 83:18 clearly states, "That men may know that You, Whose Name alone is JEHOVAH, are the Most High over all the Earth." Some more scripture's: Isaiah 12:2 and Isaiah 26:4. I pray this can be helpful. God Bless! John Ryals |

2 | Does the Bible refer to Peter being hung | NT general | John Ryals | 227994
The Bible only mentions the deaths of two apostles, James who was put to death by Herod Agrippa I in 44 AD and Judas Iscariot who committed suicide shortly after the death of Christ. The details of the deaths of three of the apostles, (John, the Beloved, Bartholomew and Simon the Canaanite) are not known at all, either by tradition or early historians. The deaths of the other seven apostles are known by tradition or the writings of early Christian historians. According to traditions and the Bible, eight of the Apostles died as Martyrs. At least two of the Apostle's Peter and Andrew were crucified. Simon surnamed Peter died 33-34 years after the death of Christ. According to Smith's Bible Dictionary there is "satisfactory evidence that he and Paul were the founders of the Church at Rome, and died in that city. The time and manner of the apostle's martyrdom are less certain. According to the early writers, he died at or about the same time with Paul, and in the Neronian persecution, AD 67,68. All agree that he was crucified. origin says that Peter felt himself to be unworthy to be put to death in the same manner as his Master, and was therefore at his request, crucified with his head down. I pray this information is useful to the furtherance of the Gospel for Christ. May God Bless You |

Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift og God." The great objects of faith are made known by divine revelation, and made credible by the testimony and evidence which God has given us; and that we believe to salvation and obtain salvation through faith. |

Tamar was the half-sister of Amnon. She was he daughter of Maach, a princess of Geshur, one of David's wives. Amnon was David's first-born, the son of Ahinoam of Jezereel. Absalom was also the son of Maacah. At this time, Amnon was about 22 years old; Absalom, 20; Tamar, 15; and Solomon, 2. David was 53 years old. The Chapter begins with "Absalom," as if the Holy Spirit is warning us that the coming rebellion led by Absalom begins here, which is another subject dealt with later on, in this Book of Samuel. I can't say their were any who desired this type of 'wanting,' because Amnon used a plan of deception to create this opportunity, and on top of that he took her against her will. I will say there were some in the Old Testament who were married to their Half- Sisters. The Levitical Laws in that time were held with the utmost, and if you read in the great Book of Leviticus in the 20th Chapter, this should help with your curiosity. May the Lord be with you. 10 | How will God judge on judgement day? | Psalm | John Ryals | 227920
Psalms 103:12 states,"As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us," This is equivalent to "blotting out our sins" Acts 3:19; Isa. 43:25; 44:22. It is impossible to bring the east and the west together; so it is impossible to bring the forgiven sinner and his forgiven sins together. This Divine fact gives to those who believe it, a peace which nothing can destroy.

12 | Jeremiah 10:3-5 what does this mean to y | Jer 10:3 | John Ryals | 230479
The word "customs" refers to the "images of wood," i.e., "idols." The word "people" refers to heathen nations. Thwe "vanity" addressed here, concerning the "cutting of the tree out of the forest," is meant by the Holy Spirit to portray the absurdity of thinkinking that something fashioned by the hands of man could be greater than the hands which fashioned it. This making of an idol is the same as described in Isa. 41:7 and 44:13-17, which could very well have been read by Jeremiah, with the Holy Spirit impressing him strongly to emphasize this great sin once more. Such does not show a weakness in the Text, but rather an emphasis placed by the Holy Spirit on that which He considers it to be very important, by all means,we should, as well! These passages are sometimes taken to mean the modern Christmas tree, but actually the tree referred to had no branches left on it at all. This refers to a tree trunk being made into an idol, not the Christmas tree These absurd man-made idols, which "speak not" and which have to be carried about because of having no mobility of their own, are not som ething to be "afraid of." They don't have the power to do "evil" or "good." Have a very Merry Christmas! John Ryals |

14 | Is eating pork allowed for Christians? | Matt 15:17 | John Ryals | 228109
These two scriptures, [Matt. 15:17-18] should shed light on your question. To give the 'entire reference' which deals with 'the things that defile' look at Matthew 15:10-20. Based on these two scriptures I support my answer with, I would have to say, "Yes," it is allowed. Now, dealing with our health issue, my answer would have to be, to be mindful of portion sizes. On a personal note, I don't feel the eating of food has anything to do with the spiritual side of man. God Bless, John Ryals |

15 | Matthew 28:18-19 | Matt 28:18 | John Ryals | 228060
Hello Begbie, This is my explanation, and I would advise you to search for others, and be open to others, with the Holy Spirit guiding you: When Jesus spoke unto them saying, "All power is given unto Me in Heaven and in Earth," this is not given to Him as Son of God; for, as God nothing can be added to Him or taken from Him; it is rather a power, which He has merited by His Incarnation and His death at Calvary on the Cross [Phil. 2:8-10]; this authority extends not only over men, so that He governs and protects the Church, disposes human events, controls hearts and opinions; but the forces of Heaven also are at His Command; the Holy Spirit is bestowed by Him, and the Angels are in His employ as ministering to the members of His Body. When He said, "all power," He meant, "all power!" In verse 19 when He says,"Go ye therefore," this applies to any and all who follow Christ, and in all ages. Go and preach to all nations proclaiming the truth. We should go forth and give instruction of the whole Gospel for the whole man; Not as a suggestion but to do so because He said in verse 20,"I have commanded you.' In verse 20 also He said, "I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen," hence, forever present among us and with us as Companion, Friend, Guide, Saviour, and God; until the end of age because it is the guarantee of His Promise. Amen. I pray this makes sense and it increases the vision of your heart. May God Bless You! John Ryals |

16 | Allowing demons to speak? | Mark | John Ryals | 228035
If you are referring to Verse 25 when Jesus rebuked the lead demon by saying, "Hold your Peace, and come out of him," In effect, Jesus said, "shut up, and come out of him". In verse 27, they were speechless, In effect, "Who is this Man," referring to the possibilty, and their thinking, that He might be the Messiah. I pray this explanation is helpful, May God Bless You!

18 | Opposition of Holy Spirit? | Mark | John Ryals | 229847
Matthew Henry states, "Many of those who reviled Christ on the cross (which was a 'blaspheming' of the Son of man, aggravated to the highest degree), found mercy, and Christ himself prayed, Father, forgive them; but this was 'blaspheming the Holy Ghost, for it was by the Holy Spirit that he cast out devils, and they said, It was by the unclean spirit. By this method they would outface the conviction of all the gifts of the Holy Ghost after Christ's ascension, and defeat them all, after which there remained no more proof, and therefore they should never have forgiveness, but were liable to eternal damnation. They were in imminent danger of that everlasting punishment, from which there was no redemption, and in which there was no intermission, no remission. I would like to further comment on the question: First I believe Mark 3:22-27 is leading up to Mark 3:28 30.Verse (22) states "the scribes came down from Jerusalem," to me this means they came with purpose. To proselyte, to discredit Christs' doctrine, or just to prove they were more knowledgeable; could have been some of the possibilties. But when Jesus asked in verse (23, 'How can Satan cast out Satan?" I believe this prevented them from being successful with their agenda. After a series of more 'Parable thoughts' in verses 24-27 this is when Jesus' explanation of what the unpardonable sin included. To create more in the discussion thread; Verse (28 ) states, "Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherwith soever they shall blaspheme;" Is this not saying that 'blaspheming, can be forgiven? I pray my following comment will expand this discussion. I believe (only a Believer who has ceased to believe, in other words, ceases to evidence Faith in Christ, and a professor of religion, such as these Pharisees, etc., can blaspheme the Holy Spirit; an unsaved person, who has made no profession of faith, cannot blaspheme the Spirit; and when one does blaspheme the Holy Spirit, there will not be any desire to serve Christ, as there was no desire by the Pharisees, tc., to serve Christ) and this is an example of displaying 'Blasphemy'. |

19 | Exactly what does Mark 15:42 mean | Mark 15:42 | John Ryals | 228147
Hello, It is my understanding, that it was approximately 3 p. m.----the evening would be at about 6 p.m. so they had about three hours to work, because("it was the preparation")meaning to prepare for the passover which would begin at 6 p.m. that evening. The High Sabbath of the Passover Feast, which was Thursday, and not the ordinary weekly Sabbath, which was Saturday [Lev. 23:6-7]; Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday, and not on Friday, as many think, spending three full days and nights in the Tomb, and rose on the first day of the week, even as He had said He would do, [Matt. 12:40]. 20 | Can just anyone be a preacher? | Mark 16:15 | John Ryals | 227988
Ephesians 4:7-11 7) But unto every one of us is given Grave according to the measure of the Gift of Christ. 8) Wherefore He said, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave Gifts unto men. 9) (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10) He Who descended is the same also Who ascended up far above all Heavens, that He might fill all things.) 11) And He gave some, Apostles; and some, Prophets; and some, Evangelists; and some, Pastors and Teachers. Our Lord does the calling. Verse 11 has reference to the fact that not all who are called to be Ministers will be called to be Apostles; this applies to the other designations as well; "Apostles" serve as the de facto leaders of the Church and do so through the particular Message given them by the Lord for the Church. "Prophets" stand in the 'Office of the Prophet', thereby, foretelling and forthtelling, the "Evangelists' are to gather the harvest, the "Pastors" are the 'Shepherds', and the "Teachers" are those with a special Ministry to teach the word to the Body of Christ; "Apostles" can and do function in all of the callings. I pray my opening statement,"Our Lord does the calling," helps with your question. May God Bless You! |
