1 | What is the significance of Obed Edom? D | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 196365
Hello Frank, The significance of Obed-Edom can be understood from 2 Sam. 6:5-15. Specifically, verse 11 tells us that the ark was "in the house of Obed-edom...three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and his household".(ESV). Verse 12 gives us the significance, "...The LORD has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God..." (ESV). Any deeper revelation should be sought from prayer- certainly- and study of the Word of God! Be careful of "visions" as they are both subjective and extra-Biblical! Sola Scriptura! 2 | dreams and visions not scriptural? | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 196582
Hello fgravagna, Well, the short summary answer is: we have the completed Cannon of scripture, they didn't. If dreams and visions are a normative (everyday) way of receiving revelation, then what of the Word of God? Do we do an end run around the authority of scripture as so many attempt? No. Scripture is our source and guide- John 17:17, "Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth". If we start seeking and placing our faith in dreams and visions, than we might as well discard God's Word. This is referred to as extra-Biblical revelation. Dreams and visions are very subjective by their very nature are they not? How does one determine objectively where to draw the line? You can't. How do you know the dream or vision was of God? Everything becomes, "what God spoke to me", or "what the Lord told me to do", or "God spoke thus and such to me through this dream", etc. Notice that when tempted by satan, Jesus responded by quoting the Word of God- Matt: 4:1-4 "Matt 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Matt 4:2 And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. Matt 4:3 And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." Matt 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'" That's not only a very strong endorsement, but also a supreme example for us to follow! I hope this helps, BradK |

Dear ssong, While I can empathize with your frustrations, the SBF is not geared toward dealing with political battles, righting social wrongs, etc. it's focus is the study and proclamation of Biblical truth. If we could right all the wrongs and injustices, we'd still be faced with the consequences of our sin (Rom. 6:23). Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Terry, You state in your profile that you're confused about religion. In all honesty, your posts have been very hard to understand:-) Are you truly seeking answers? What is your purpose in coming to the Forum? With all due respect, you seem to be blowing off most responses given you. If you are really seeking to become clear about a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, we are more than glad to help. I would ask and pray that you seek Him. 10 | Why do you respond? | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 202423
Terry: It's a public Forum. Also, the stated purpose of the SBF is the study of God's Word. As such, anyone can respond. Personally, I'm not trying to come across as negative. I'm simply trying to gain a clearer understanding of what you seek. Without giving a clear, detailed explanation of exactly "where you're coming from" and what you hope to expect from this Forum, you may continue to feel like you're defending yourself. As a personal note, I'm not confused about religion. I've found what I'm looking for. Religion - in general- is man's attempt to find God. I have a personal relationship with the Living God. I've found Him in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is Him I worship and follow! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hello Dlord..., The many questions you ask appear to be homework-type! Are they? Your best answer is found in 2 Tim. 2:15: "Be diligent to present (study to show) yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." Hello a humble messenger, So, are you saying you've come across something that's been hidden, otherwise neglected, or just plain missed by some 2000 years of biblical scholarship and translation? I also am curious as to what skills you possess that qualify you to make any "revisions" to the ASV? With no disrespect, the focus of your post seems all a little presumptuous! 17 | Christ reincarnated is it acceptable doc | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 213895
Hello lawjon1, Christ was not reincarnated, He was "raised from the dead"- Rom 8:11, "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." Reincarnation is not a biblical doctrine! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

18 | Are people going to hell? | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 215403
Hello tanya, Welcome to the Forum! You've received some good answers. If you indeed heard one of the hosts on the radio program say "no one would be going to hell", he'd be mistaken. Scripture in no way teaches this! The context of Rom. 14:11- quoting Is. 45:23 - does not teach that all will go to Heaven! Question: "Is hell real? Is hell eternal?" Answer: It is interesting that a much higher percentage of people believe in the existence of Heaven than believe in the existence of Hell. According to the Bible, though, Hell is just as real as Heaven. The Bible clearly and explicitly teaches that Hell is a real place to which the wicked/unbelieving are sent after death. We have all sinned against God (Romans 3:23). The just punishment for that sin is death (Romans 6:23). Since all of our sin is ultimately against God (Psalm 51:4), and since God is an infinite and eternal Being, the punishment for sin, death, must also be infinite in eternal. Hell is this infinite and eternal death, what we have earned because of our sin. The punishment of the wicked dead in hell is described throughout Scripture as “eternal fire” (Matthew 25:41), “unquenchable fire” (Matthew 3:12), “shame and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2), a place where “the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:44-49), a place of “torment” and “fire” (Luke 16:23-24), “everlasting destruction” (2 Thessalonians 1:9), a place where “the smoke of torment rises forever and ever” (Revelation 14:10,11), and a “lake of burning sulfur” where the wicked are “tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10). The punishment of the wicked in Hell is as never-ending as the bliss of the righteous in Heaven. Jesus Himself indicates that the punishment in Hell is just as everlasting as eternal life in Heaven (Matthew 25:46). The wicked are forever subject to the fury and the wrath of God in Hell. They consciously suffer shame and contempt and the assaults of an accusing conscience for all of eternity. Even those in Hell will acknowledge the perfect justice of God (Psalms 76:10). Those who are in Hell will know that their punishment is just and that they alone are to blame (Deuteronomy 32:3-5). Yes, Hell is real. Yes, Hell is a place of torment and punishment that lasts forever and ever, with no end! Praise God that through Jesus, we can escape this eternal fate (John 3:16,18,36). [gotquestions.org/hell] I hope this helps, BradK |

19 | ... | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 215754
Hello rohitjohn93, Welcome to the Forum. In answer to your question, there is only One God- Jehovah (Deut. 6:4). I'd be very curious as to what "is proof from the bible"?? Consider Is. 44:9-20 speaking to the folly of idolatry. Note particularly vs. 15-17: Is 44:15 - Then it becomes something for a man to burn, so he takes one of them and warms himself; he also makes a fire to bake bread. He also makes a god and worships it; he makes it a graven image and falls down before it. Is 44:16 - Half of it he burns in the fire; over this half he eats meat as he roasts a roast and is satisfied. He also warms himself and says, "Aha! I am warm, I have seen the fire." Is 44:17- But the rest of it he makes into a god, his graven image. He falls down before it and worships; he also prays to it and says, "Deliver me, for you are my god."
