I believe that God has a great sense of humor. The guideline might be, if you told the joke to Jesus, would he laugh?
2 | is homosexuality sin? What scriptures? | Bible general Archive 3 | Aslans_Friend | 187285
1st Corinthians 6:9-11 Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers-none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God. There was a time when some of you were just like that, but now your sins have been washed away, and you have been set apart for God. You have been made right with God because of what the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God have done for you.
3 | What Am I doing wrong? | Bible general Archive 3 | Aslans_Friend | 187637
Hey, Mouse, I think you are right where you ought to be. Keep studying the word daily with the Holy Spirit to guide you, He won't steer you wrong! Not everyone studies the word in the same way, just as not everyone repairs their auto in the same way. Some like to get their hands greasy and buy their parts wholesale, others are content to exchange their resources with those who have the expertise. As one grows spiritually, they encounter common problems that have plagued the church since its inception. We can fellowship with many who share our fundamental beliefs, but there is a dividing line that no one should cross, as the path leads to error. We need others in the body to keep us on the right path. |

4 | Are we all descendants of Adam and Eve? | Genesis | Aslans_Friend | 239945
All humanity is one race. We are all descendants of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman created.
5 | People really lived hundreds of years? | Genesis | Aslans_Friend | 239946
The progressive decline of longevity is a direct result of sin entering the world. There is a book by a Christian geneticist, Dr John Sanford, called "Genetic Entropy and the Mystery of the Genome" which scientifically explains the phenomenon. Yes, they lived longer lives the further you go back, especially before the great flood. |

6 | Did Adam have blood before fall? | Lev 17:11 | Aslans_Friend | 230634
Adam had an organic body before the fall, so therefore he had to have the mechanism to supply nourishment and oxygen to his cells. Leviticus 17:11 states that the life of a creature is in the blood. As far as the heavenly body, there is no reference and the corporeal may be maintained by a higher process we cannot imagine. |

7 | Saying "AMEN"...outloud? | Deut 27:20 | Aslans_Friend | 187642
I agree with you. When I say "Amen" I am saying "that is certainly true." (It also is a good feedback for the pastor) Perhaps your friend attends a church that is "extremely reserved", and needs deliverance more than encouragement. LOL |

8 | Are we something before we were somethin | Is 43:7 | Aslans_Friend | 187583
We think in the order of time, start to finish. God on the other hand, exists outside of time and space. God knows every event, regardless of cause and effect. He knows the end from the beginning. (Faith changes facts into truth) Genesis 2:7 says, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." In the beginning, God created the figure of a man with the dust of the earth and then breathed into his nostrils "the breath of life." When the breath of life came in contact with man's body, the soul was produced. The soul is the consummation of man's body and his spirit. This is why the Bible calls man "a living soul." This "breath of life" is man's spirit, the source of man's life. The Lord Jesus tells us that "it is the Spirit who gives life" (John 6:63). This breath of life comes from the Creator. Yet we should not confuse this spirit, which is the "breath of life," with the Holy Spirit of God. There is a difference between the Holy Spirit and the human spirit. Romans 8:16 shows us that the spirit of man is different from the Holy Spirit; the two are not the same. "The Spirit Himself witnesses with our spirit that we are children of God." The word "life" in the expression "the breath of life" is chay; it is plural in number. This tells us that God's breathing produces two lives, a spiritual one and a soulish one. This means that when God's breath of life entered the human body, it became the spirit. At the same time, when this spirit came in contact with the body, it produced the soul. This is the source of the two lives, the spiritual life and the soulish life, within us. The body is the "world-consciousness," the soul is the "self-consciousness," and the spirit is the "God-consciousness." There are five organs in the body which afford man the five senses. This physical body enables man to communicate with the physical world. This is why it is called the "world- consciousness." The soul comprises that part in man known as the intellect, which makes man's existence possible. The part of love generates affections toward other human beings or objects. Affections originate from the senses. All these are parts of man himself; they form the personality of man. Hence, they are called the "self-consciousness." The spirit is the part with which man communicates with God. With this part man worships God, serves Him, and understands his relationship with God. Hence, it is called "God-consciousness." Just as God dwells in the spirit, the self dwells in the soul, and the senses dwell in the body. -THE SPIRITUAL MAN by Watchman Nee. Aailable online at http://www.ministrybooks.com |

9 | Are tithes n offerings required nowadays | Matt 6:19 | Aslans_Friend | 187151
Don't store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be. Matthew 6:19-21 This is Jesus' word on giving, in my opinion. The Israelites saw 10 percent as the minimum firstfruits that belonged to God, anything less was robbing from God, even by God's word to them (and us, if you will) (Mal 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.) Required? No, however, If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving-large or small-it will be used to measure what is given back to you. Luke 6:38 |

10 | Feelings demonstrate the facts? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 186731
Feelings are very important to us because we are emotional creatures. However, emotions can be deceiving. Man is spirit, soul, and body. Emotions are a part of the soul of man, they reflect the self image. A person who is spiritual, more importantly, one who is born again, is in communion with our heavenly Father through the spirit. During such communication, the Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. External stimulae comes from the flesh and can give no assurance of salvation. You might read THE SPIRITUAL MAN by Watchman Nee. Available entirely online at http://www.ministrybooks.org/ This classic work shows great insight into the nature of man and, at least in my case, helped me realize that salvation is more of a process than an event. On the other hand, the greatest promise I can hold out to you is: Rom 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I pray this helps. |

11 | Does chancing it make it? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 186732
Luk 10:25-28 And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" And He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?" And he answered, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." And He said to him, "You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE." Perhaps half-hearted Christians, or Christians serving themselves only, or Christians just serving the Church need to re-vitalize their relationship with Christ to validate their "assurance". |

12 | Assurance based on performance? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 186816
Assurance based on faith in Jesus' performance. In Christ alone. His heart is not deceitful, His soul is not corrupt, when I am weak - He is strong, I have the mind of Christ, my mind is renewed. |

13 | Faith that is self-centered? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 187047
Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God Rom 12:1-3 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. You must differenciate between your conscience and the accusations of your enemy the devil. You do that by getting to know the Spirit of God through worship and reading His word. |

14 | Real change? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 187048
John 15:1-11 I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. You know the change you have experienced is real by the life that is growing in you. Remember, man is spirit, soul, and body (I Thess. 5:23). The spirit is God-consciousness, the soul is self-consiousness, and the body is world-consciousness. Romans 8 tells us of the dichotomous strugle between the spirit and the flesh that goes on in a believer. We must crucify the flesh so that the spirit may grow into the reflection of Christ. |

15 | Is perseverance certain? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 187049
"The trouble with living sacrifices is that they tend to crawl off the alter", I once heard from a pastor. Bottom line: Christ did it all for you. Heb 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. You just need to keep your relationship with your Father who loves you dearly. Trust and obey. |

16 | Experience assures salvation? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 187050
Too much going on in the head. Take that mind captive to Christ and trust in Him. Romans 10:8-10 "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. |

17 | Do the will of the Father to enter heave | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 187063
If we are one in the spirit with the Father and the Son, we will do the works of the Father as He wills. John 6:28,29 Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." |

18 | saved | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 187064
Yes. You are saved from Sin. (sin nature) By being baptised symbolically, you place your old man into the grave with Christ's burial, and rise up a new creation with Him in His resurrection. You are free to grow spiritually without the shackles of sin to bind you, but you must feed the new life by prayer, reading the word, and fellowship with other believers to keep that new life alive and growing. |

20 | "If"? | Matt 7:21 | Aslans_Friend | 187255
Of course salvation is conditional. Your assurance is in your relationship with your Father. You are assured of your Father's love regardless of your performance. However, there is a warning in Hebrews. Have you entirely forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you, his children? He said, "My child, don't ignore it when the Lord disciplines you, and don't be discouraged when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes those he accepts as his children. As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who was never disciplined? If God doesn't discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children after all. Since we respect our earthly fathers who disciplined us, should we not all the more cheerfully submit to the discipline of our heavenly Father and live forever? Hebrews 12:5-9 Fear of the future is not godly, fear is the opposite of faith. Fear involves punishment, faith appropriates forgiveness through the provision of Christ. |
