1 | Did Jonah die in the belly of the fish? | Matt 12:40 | ursus57 | 192262
Jonah is referred to as a sign to the Pharisees and the Lawyers in the Gospels, the sign, three days and three nights in the belly of the earth as the picture of Jonah being three days in the belly of the great fish. The question, can one advance the idea that Jonah actually died, and was made alive again? The references to the grave seem to point to death, then Jonah after this is going through the city saying repent. What say?
2 | Jonah and Jesus | Psalm | ursus57 | 192235
Thanks, Cheri, I am digging into this for ideas for a devotional I am to give this next Wednesday at church. I noticed many Psalms where David was speaking and suddenly I would be reading about the Messiah. This interesting subject prompted my current question. Will read through and consider these verses. Thanks Also if you feel like commenting on Jesus' saying the only sign we would have, as far as the Pharisees and Lawyers trying to demand a sign from him, would be the sign of Jonah. Since Jesus died to enter into the grave for three days, and was alive again, could one represent Jonah as dying while in the belly of the fish, and being alive again, would the type hold that way? Thanks and Happy Friday!
