JRM, Okay, I'll try to recreate what I lost on this website page. First off, a sincere thank you! for taking the time to say all that you did. Just the other day, I realized that you had also posted an answer to my question. I went to your info page. I was able to read all 47 of your "questions," but only 2 of your posted "answers," 2 of your posted "notes," and only 4 of the 237 total postings. I'm a newcomer to this website. Do you know why I can't access everything? Anyway, I looked over some of the questions and answers you've posted. I can't help but appreciate the way you look at things. You are open, educated, and not afraid take an honest look at difficult things and admit that something at least "appears" to be a contradiction. I really appreciate that. Many of us are too uncomfortable with apparent contradictions to admit they exist. Question #1: With all the discrepancies you have cited, you still seem to keep your faith in God and His Word. How do you do that? Question #2: You mentioned in your answer to my original question above, that there may have been a "fair bit of fallen culture" in these laws; that Moses may have been struggling to find justice, but used the fallen culture around him as a starting point. I have always been told that that the scripture is the inspired Word of God. You seem to imply that scripture may, instead, be coming from a human mind influenced by the culture. Which is it? Maybe I should reconsider the way I have viewed scripture all these years? Your opinion please. |

http://www.newint.org/issue370/literal.htm The above link is not my website. But it is troubling to me, as I do not know how to respond to it. Question: How do I respond intelligently to the questions raised in the above website about the relevancy of the Old Testament Law, without side-stepping the issues. |
