(Hebrews 11:7 KJV) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. 6 | On earth in earth | Matt 6:10 | terrib | 150141
Hi Tim, Question for you about Greek prepositions. KJV Mat 6:10 "...Thy will be done in (epi) earth, as it is in (en) heaven. Could you explain the two usages of the word "in" in the above Scripture? Some translations use "on earth". The use of "on earth" seems to have an implication towards planetary or spherical and is impersonal compared to "in earth" which has an implication towards man, flesh, which is directly personal. Jesus always related the difference between flesh and spirit and here in the Lord's prayer I see the term "in earth" (flesh) as it is "in heaven" (spirit). Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Thanks, Your brother, terrib |

7 | Being caught up. | 2 Cor 12:2 | terrib | 149657
KJV 2Co 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 2Co 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 2Co 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Is Paul talking about two men or one? If one man, is the man caught up to two different places, 1. the third heaven and 2. paradise? If one place, then is the paradise Paul is talking about the same as the one Jesus told to the thief on the cross? |

9 | Corinthians vs. Isaiah | 1 Cor 2:9 | terrib | 146977
In 1 Corinthians 2:9, my Bible references that Paul is using a passage from Isaiah 64:4. Now when I see something inside of quotes I expect it to be the same. But the two passages are completely different in meaning. In Corinthians it talks about spiritual things of God. 1Co 2:9 (NASB) but just as it is written, "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM." But in Isaiah the people have neither seen or heard any God except the Almighty and are praying for His help. Isa 64:4 (NASB) For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him. Comments. terrib |

12 | Question, exclamation or both? | 2 Pet 3:11 | terrib | 112434
I guess this would be a point of grammar. Do we take this as a question, exclamation or possibly both? Compare: KJV (2Pe 3:11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, (2Pe 3:12) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? (Question mark) NASB (2Pe 3:11) Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, (2Pe 3:12) looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 | Who is my teacher? | Matt 13:58 | terrib | 110881
Mat 13:54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Mat 13:55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? Mat 13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? Mat 13:57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. Mat 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Did those in the synagogue know that it was the Son of God was teaching them? terrib |

14 | Same day judgement? | NT general Archive 1 | terrib | 110799
Jewish laws concerning judgement. In my studies I have come across the following reference. T. Bab. Sanhedrin, fol. 35. 1. and 46. 1. Bemidbar Rabba, sect. 8. fol. 190. 1. My question is: Does this reference contain Jewish laws that says not to carry out judgement of two seperate crimes on the same day? If so, we see how much more the humiliation of Christ, in the eyes of the public, and the reference to Isa. 53:12 in placing Him as a common sinner. terrib |
