1 | Where the priest impatient and greedy? | 1 Sam 2:13 | remorse2 | 206092
Does anyone out there know if God told Aaron or his sons that they could poke a fork in the pot that was cooking the sacrifice? Asked another way: in 1 Sam 2:13-14 seems to me to be an odd behavior. Was what they were doing a specific instruction given by God to the priest's servants when God gave His instructions regarding sacrifice and the portion for Aaron's sons? Lev 6:28-29 supports the behavior of eating the meat that was prepared but the habit of sticking the fork in seems a little greedy and impatient to me. I am not questioning thier priveledge of eating the meat. It was theirs to eat. I am questioning the method of obtaining the meat. I also know that the behavior of Levi's sons (vs 15-17)taking the meat before the fat was burned off was wrong. But the way it is written implys that this was an established habit maybe before Eli's sons ever showed up. |

3 | Do you know of extrabiblical sources? | Gen 12:16 | remorse2 | 203697
I think the answer is extrabiblical. I did not find the answer in scripture either. I heard a rumor that there were documents found that refer to the 10 kings that raided Sodom and Gamorah. I also heard there was a refrence in this document to Abraham and 300 of his companions rescuing Lot. I wonder if this document exists translated into english for us monolingual americans. I think it would shed some light on the culture of the day. E.G. the price of a princess or a haram girl. Repentent and Remorsefull for my Sin. |

4 | Was it normal to pay this for a commoner | Gen 12:16 | remorse2 | 203679
Pharoh paid a lot for Sari? Was it normal for the Pharoh to pay this much for a woman of her age? Does anyone have any archeology based refrence books I can look at that would show that this is normal? Personally I think he considered her a princess (Sari in hebrew means princess) and he wanted to pay the princess price for her.
