1 | Jesus Baptized | Mark 1:7 | ngkh | 168704
Sorry Jeff, one more. In Matthew 3, Jesus went to John the Baptist to be baptize in water as well. Did Jesus need the baptizm of ''repentance' or is there anything that he He need to repent of? I mean he is sinless isn't he?
2 | John 4:1-2 | Mark 1:7 | ngkh | 168650
In John 4:1-2 The Pharisees heard that Jesus was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John, although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. Q. Why did John mentioned that Jesus did not do the baptizing. Can he not baptize? What is the significance or reason why John highlighted this. Thanks |

4 | Appreciate your further thoughts | John 7:17 | ngkh | 167552
HI Mark, Can I quote some parts of a page from Kenneth Hagins 'Understanding how to fight the good fight of faith' page 44 Started with James 5:14-16 'The first thing I noticed, is that James asks a question:"is anyone sick among you?" By asking a question, James infers that there might not be any sick people among them. And, really, if the Church knew and walked in the light of 1Peter 2:24, there would not be any sick in the Church! We would be doers of the Word in every area of our lives, including "By whose stripes ye WERE healed," and we would walk in divine health. Then I read in the next verse about calling for the elders of the church, and I thought a person had to get the elders to pray in order to be healed. (Actually, you don't have to but you may). Tears filled my eyes and I began to cry because there was no one to call to pray for me. But the Holy Spirit which is our Teacher called something to my attention. It was so real, it seemed as though someone spoke up on the inside of me - in my spirit. The Holy Spirit said,"Did you notice the verse said, "the prayer of faith (italics) shall save the sick"?" I looked at it again and said, "Well yes, that's what it says." And that voice within said, "You can pray that prayer as well as anyone". I began to see it! I began to believe it!" I would appreciate your thoughts on what was written. Thanks. |

5 | Truth | John 7:17 | ngkh | 167388
Ok,thanks for the cut and paste. If its any consolation, I do not belong to the movement. I just read some of his books. Either I am not reading right or I have yet to read the books that has those teachings that are countered. Might I ask if you have read any of his books or are you just following other peoples comment. If you have, I would appreciate if you will let me know the name of the book, the writings which you feel are questionable and if I do not have the book, I will buy one. Or you might want to download from http://www.rhema.org/media/faith_magazine.cfm which I have just found on the net. Read the article and let me know if it is questionable.I've yet to read all of it. |

Thank you Doc. I think you might have mistaken me for another person. I'm not Rig. Its John. Anyway, does it mean that God can discriminate whosoever He wishes even if the poor discrimated fella had done no wrong?Does that not amount to forsake? |

7 | Why God chooses ? | Rom 9:11 | ngkh | 159011
Why did God choose ( show preference)? 1) Isaac against Ishmael 2) Jacob against Esau 3) Joseph and his brothers which lead to more than 2 thousand years of fighting and it seems no end to it. Does not God knows what the actions of the rejected will be? |

Was reading Revelation and in Chapter 2, it mentioned Nicolaitans. Who are they? What are their wrong doings? I did a search in the whole bible and it was only mentioned twice and both at Revelation. Would appreciate some insights. Thanks |

9 | Can we borrow or lend? | Acts | ngkh | 157372
I am doing "financial freedom" course at church by the Institute in basic Life priciples (Men's manual,Volume II) and basically, we are not to borrow and also not lend. I find it difficult to comply. If I want to buy a house and I do not have the money to pay in full. How am I ever to own a house. Even if I were to save for several years ( same amount of the instalments) by the time I got the money, inflation considering, the cost of the house then would have been higher and I'm back to square one. Does it mean that God does not want us to own a house? About not lending - Matthew 5:42 Give to him who ask of you and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you. Who is right? |

10 | Thank you, Doc | Prov 3:5 | ngkh | 155553
Thank you, Doc for your thoughts and your explanation. Never did I thought the way you did. Perhaps I had been wrong all this while for in the past 2 over years, I never did once try to understand myself. It was always the Word and after I went thru Romans thru Hebrews, I believed that my old self should have died with Christ and my new is being crafted by our Lord in his own ways and time. That's how I see it in my growth. He had always eqquipped me with brothers and sisters like yourself to guide me. I have always relied on Him to move me and I can feel that I am moving. I do confess however that it makes me arrogant and prideful at times and God do rebuke with scriptures to tow me back to line. It is ironic that before my rebirth, I was always fighting the Word, looking for contradictions and doubts with my carnal mind but then God convicted me via the Word and now I am fighting for the Word telling others not to use their carnal mind to understand God's will which includes understanding ourselves and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us or take charge as we go along. Just seek, obey and receive, I believe. Isaiah 55:8-9 8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. 9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Thus, if I try to understand ourselves, I might understand wrongly. After all I am still human and might follow on the wrong path cos I cannot determine if what my thoughts is God's will. I am still very much how people would say "heart hardened" about how I feel. I would need time to digest what you wrote and am very thankful for your thoughts. Perhaps, if its not too much trouble, I would appreciate your prayer to allow me to see the light. God Bless ps. Incidently, I do read the postings almost everyday. Just that I felt a bit inadequate to contribute. |

11 | To seek God must we also seek ourselves? | Prov 3:5 | ngkh | 155511
My home group is currently doing a word study using the book by Selwyn Hughes - Every Day with Jesus - The Christian's True Identity. The author states that a Christian is a person with two identities - their natural and the new one given by God. Now the issue is, the author states that it is vital that we know something about ourselves. Any attempt to know more about God without desiring to know more about ourselves and our spiritual identity will result in an unbalanced type of christian living. The author also added that as an e.g. a pastor of a very successful church and appeared to have a deep knowledge of God but little about himself led him to commit a sin which ruined his ministry. Now, I do not agree that we should look at ourselves following my understanding of Paul's epistles in Romans and Galatians about seeking one's carnal mind. Proverbs 3:5-6 clearly states that we do not lean on our own understanding. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him,and he will make your paths straight. Psalm 139:23-24 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. All my other home group members do not agree with me. Am I wrong? Thanks |

13 | Romans 3:10 | Rom 2:12 | ngkh | 145599
Romans 3:10 or Psalms 14:13 53:13; Eccles. 7:20 - What if someone asked that this quotation " None is righteous" was written by man (David?) and not God which means that if it was a man's judgement and not God's does it still hold water? Likewise for verse 23, what if someone argued that Paul is making the judgement since he is still a man although he may be an apostle contrary to Romans 1 |

Romans 1:20 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. What did Paul meant when he said 1) His (God's) "eternal power" and "divine nature" that have clearly seen. Any examples of what was seen? Thank you. |

16 | Whats gonna happen in the 2nd coming | Bible general Archive 2 | ngkh | 145280
Thanks EdB. Then does it mean that we should look forward to His coming but before He comes, certain events must happen, right?. I was told that Isreal need to be restored to fulfill the prophesies but not sure if there are any other events besides what was stated in Revelations and 1 Thessolonians (Rapture).

19 | Thanks but.... | Matt 12:32 | ngkh | 143824
Thank you for the sharing. Now Hank wrote that there has to be a "deliberate" for this sin because they knew about it and yet still talk against it while you felt that anyone who profess to have received salvation but rejects the Holy Spirit is guilty of this sin even though they may not have talked against it. My bro-in-law for e.g. a far longer and strong christian I believe with great faiths. The only thing that bugged me is when we talk about a charismatic church I am in, he does not or rather his church does not believe in speaking of the tongues as according to him the event happened only on the day of Pantecost. He did not condemn it either. When he once visited my church, he told me that I am in the right church. I don't know what his church preaches but I am concerned that he may be on the wrong footing which may lead him to commit an 'unpardonable sin' (no way back.) without realising it. Also like him, we also have thousands of believers who may not believe in the Holy Spirit worldwide. Does it mean that they are condemned for not believing in the Holy Spirit? And how would we minister this? I thought the Holy Spirit is sort of automatic as you walk with the Lord - (baptism of the holy spirit.) because of ones belief and faith. Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Why would one believes in Christ and yet do not believe in the Holy Spirit? Again, if one who is not for the Holy Spirit will he also be against Christ? |

20 | Unpardonable sin | Matt 12:32 | ngkh | 143802
I have read commentaries and discussions done in 2002 but I've still some questions and would appreciate some enlightening. 1) What constitute blasphemising the Holy Spirit (NIV and NKJV) ? 2) If a christian whose church do not believe in the speaking of tongues i.e. holy spirit, and thus to say that its not acceptable, will they fall under this category? My bro-in-law is in this church. 3) Does this verse not contradict the full Grace of the Lord? Even if you talk against Jesus Christ is still forgivable. 4) What if the person who does not understand the Holy Spirit and have talked bad about the Spirit. ( Would it be reasonable for a man who is not a believer or ignorant like the Pharisees to say that it is a demon instead? (Matthew 12:24)) 4) Would you say that man in general who do not understand but witness a miracle ( healing, exorcism) would normaly look at it in a negative manner (skeptics). Will skeptics then also fall under this category of unforgivable sin? Thus if a person who is a non believer then, argued that the Holy Spirit is utterly nonsence and crap but later repented and born again. No use? (damned for eternity) Thank you. |
