2 | What about pierced ears? | Ex 21:6 | mitelt | 112963
Hank, I am posting this under your post simply because yours is the first in the current string here, not because I am specifically addressing you or any of your comments. I also am not posting my questions / comments as a defense for body piercing and tattooing. I personally don't care for it. My question is, what is everyone's attitude about pierced ears? I am not referring to multiple piercings, but the simple standard earring piercing (in the earlobe) that has been around for decades and which a lot of very Christian ladies have. Much of this thread seems to relate to attitude, and I am wondering whose attitude it is that needs examining? Much of this discussion is about "body" piercings and the affects on the Christian witness and attitude. Does anyone notice whether a lady has pierced ears or not? I know I don't. But we all notice a pierced eyebrow, don't we? What is the difference? Our attitude or theirs? I guess my point would be that I can't see the biblical difference between the pierced ear and the pierced eyebrow, but we as a society seem to. I am not going to discount some lady's Christian witness based on the fact that she has pierced ears. A pierced eyebrow really shouldn't affect my attitude towards that same Christian witness. Again, I am not trying to justify anything here. Just wondering if my/our attitudes are biblical or not, and if they are being properly applied. |

3 | How to accept His free gift? | John 3:5 | mitelt | 111400
Mark 16:16 says "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved...". (NASB) Tim (Morant61), you said, "We only have to accept His free gift of salvation." What does one have to do to accept this free gift? Mark 16:16 still says "be baptized" to me. |

4 | International Standard Version? | Bible general Archive 2 | mitelt | 110681
Thank you, Makarios, for the response. When you say "more 'dynamic equivalent'" and "faithful to the original Greek", to which translations are you referring? Is it better (whatever that means) than the NIV or NLT, or would you consider it yet another study tool. I was aware of the website and the 'advertised' translation approach. It seemed similar to that of the NIV to me. Thanks again. |

5 | International Standard Version? | Bible general Archive 2 | mitelt | 110670
Any opinions regarding the International Standard Version? I believe that they are still working on the Old Testament translation, but that the New Testament is completed. How does this version compare to the NIV, NLT, CEV, NASB, etc.? |

6 | What am I doing wrong? | Bible general Archive 2 | mitelt | 108446
Help Please. I went to Search and entered 'Word of Faith'. When I enclose it in quotes ("Word of Faith"), I get no matches. This is what I would normally do when I want to find a Phrase in a Search routine. When I leave off the quotes, I get every post that contains Word, or Of, or Faith. That's a bit much. I tried both the 'Search' and 'Quick Search'. What am I doing wrong? |

7 | NIV version | Bible general Archive 2 | mitelt | 103215
You might try Cambridge University Press. They show an NIV Pre-Punched version (loose-leaf). I think it was World Bible Publishing showed an NASB version. |
