1 | Mary's annoint precede Lazarus ressurec? | John 11:2 | iktoose | 177109
John 11:2 seems to suggest that Mary's annointing of Jesus (John 12:3) preceded the ressurection of Lazarus. What confuses me is that the event depicted in John 12:3 actually took place only 6 days before the Passover as evidenced in John 12:1. A similar event is also depicted in Matt 26:7, which occurred 2 days before the Passover. Mattew's account is slightly different in that the woman (no name mentioned) poured the perfume on Jesus' head vice His feet (which is John's account). My questions are: (1) Did the annointing precede the Lazarus ressurrection? (2) Are these annointing events (Matt 26:7 and John 12:3) two separate events? iktoose |

3 | Can tares become Christians? | Matt 13:24 | iktoose | 157241
Some preach that tares represent church goers who act like Christians but not true Christians. Then would it be possible that these folks are not aware that they themselves are tares? Is it possible for tares to become Christians?

6 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149905
We (believers) are free from the Law (Romans 7:6) but Paul stated in Romans 3:31 that we should uphold the Law. Can someone tell me what part of the Mosaic Law (Pentateuch) we should still comply? I wish there was a clear black and white line drawn. iktoose |

7 | Admonish law-breakers or not? | Matt 22:17 | iktoose | 146204
How/what a church (leadership) should approach (or admonish) its members for not paying the government tax? I know some of my church members work for employers who pay cash wages to avoid paying insurance and FICA. What about members who are illegal immigrants? This issue has been bothering me for sometime but I don't know what to do. iktoose

9 | Why did Jesus encourage to betray? | John 13:27 | iktoose | 145014
A non-believer asked this question about John 13:27. If our God is God of love, why did He encourage Judas to betray Him by saying "What you do, do quickly"? How can I answer this? Pls help.
10 | Spirit Baptism | Acts 8:12 | iktoose | 145011
Prayon, Thank you for your insights. Your reply prompted me few more questions: (1) The Spirit Baptism (if different from salvation) recommended for all believers? (2) Through whom we should receive this, obviously through someone laying hand on you? Since we have no Apostles now, the Spirit baptism no longer available? (3) How this Spirit baptism compares with the term "filled with the Spirit"?
11 | Why Phillip not lay hand Samaritans? | Acts 8:12 | iktoose | 145005
Out of the miry clay, According to your note, I got the impression that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is something above and beyond one's salvation experience and it is some sort of special power given to some selected believers for furthering the gospel, correct? If so, I have another question. Why then Phillip having the power to heal sicks and chase out demon-spirited (sounds like he had the power of Apostle) could not (or did not) lay his hand for these Samaritans to receive the Holy Spirit? |

12 | Why the Holy Spirit came after baptism? | Acts 8:15 | iktoose | 144964
Normally a person at the moment of salvation receive the Holy Spirit, I am told. However, this passage does not support that. Phillip baptized (with water) many Samaritans but Apostle John and Peter came down and prayed for them so they may receive the Holy Spirit. Any good explanation for this?
13 | See through Stephen's vision? | Acts 7:55 | iktoose | 144963
The book of Acts is written by Luke, I am told. I was intrigued by verse 7:55. Since Stephen who saw the glory of God and Jesus died just after this, how could Luke got this passage recorded. Did he see this through Stephen's vision?
