1 | Church Responsibilities in today's age. | Matt 18:17 | hobbzilla | 83179
Greetings in Christ, Yes brothers and sisters it is a truly troubling generation we live in. It seems like (some not all) churches are more concerned with the bottom line and not keeping their members accountable and maintaining the Body of Christ according to this passage. I can only assume it is the same with a parent and child, the hardest of the two requirements (1-rebuke and then 2-discipline/excommunication if no change) is obviously treating the offender IN LOVE. While there are perverse people that take pleasure in such discipline, such actions are difficult to do; I vividly remember the words from my parents, "I do this because I love you". It is hard to see that at the time, but like church discipline, the consequences can speak to your spirit and allow you to make the decision to abandon your fleshly desires. When I state that churches today are more interested in the bottom line I say that with respect to salvation. They often count a decision for Christ as a whole-hearted spiritually altering event when in fact the act is more an intellectual belief. This can be seen clearly in 'The Parable of the Sower' (Mat 13, Mark 4, Luke 8). That being said, my question is twofold: 1) Do you have to also be member of that particular church in which the professed believer belongs? 2) What action would a believer take if the church takes no discipline?? OR worse yet the church doesn't fulfill their obligation of even confront the offending member? |

2 | divorce is not always a sin. | 1 Cor 7:15 | hobbzilla | 82913
Please tell why you believe that divorce is a sin! Divorce is not always a sin. It is always caused by sin, but is not an act of disobedience when permitted by God. God Himself admits to divorcing Israel (Jer. 3:8). Did God sin? I think not! |
