Hi Doc (I was tempted to say Whats up Doc), I've been wondering...If the Holy Spirit did not fully indwell believers until the Feast of Pentecost... would you say that those who believed in the Christ pre-Pentecost were saved under the previous (OLD) covenant, not by the Law, but by their faith in the coming promised Messiah? 4 | HasFaith is given to all universally? | Bible general Archive 3 | hobbs | 185435
Dear John, You stated "Faith is indeed a gift as it is specifically listed as one. And we can refuse a gift if we choose to. This to me is an axiom." I agree with you that Faith is a gift. But will you, please, demontrate from the Bible, that Faith is given to all men universally? Thanks, Hobbs |

5 | Do homosexual tendencys constitute sin? | Lev 20:13 | hobbs | 185088
I am not certain that homosexual desires are in themselves sinful. It appear to me that it is in the practice of it where the sin is committed. In the thread that dealt with the temptations experienced by our Lord Jesus the consensus was that mere temptation did NOT constitute sin. Am I off base? Hobbs |

Seven Reasons NOT To Ask Jesus Into Your Heart! by Pastor-teacher Dennis Rokser Have you ever heard someone say, "In order to be saved from hell and go to heaven, you need to ask Jesus into your heart"? Does this sound familiar? Have you ever read this on the back of tracts? Have you heard pastors or evangelists teach this? Though perhaps sincerely spoken and well-intended, is it biblically accurate to ask Jesus into your heart? Are those who have simply trusted Jesus Christ and His finished work alone not yet saved because they have not asked Jesus into their heart? On the other hand, do those who have asked Jesus into their heart truly possess eternal life because they have done this? Or is all this simply a matter of semantics? #1 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT IS NEVER FOUND IN THE BIBLE. #2 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT IS NOT HOW ONE IS SAVED. #3 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT REQUIRES NO UNDERSTANDING OF THE GOSPEL OF GRACE TO DO IT. #4 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT CONFUSES THE MEANS OF SALVATION WITH THE RESULTS OF SALVATION. #5 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT EITHER RESULTS IN NO ASSURANCE OF SALVATION OR BRINGS A FALSE ASSURANCE TO PEOPLE. #6 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because REVELATION 3:20 DOES NOT TEACH IT. #7 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT DOES NOT CLARIFY THE CONDITION OF SALVATION, IT CONFUSES IT, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN. What say ye? John |

10 | spirtual seed? | Gal 3:28 | hobbs | 170121
Rom 9:6 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel; Rom 9:7 nor are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED." Rom 9:8 That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants. How does this passage fit with what you stated? Thanks, John |

11 | Are you prepared for the truth? | Rom 7:7 | hobbs | 168829
Are you prepared to accept God's teaching even when it appears to conflict with your own ideas of right and wrong? I know from experience that it can be a very hard thing to do. At times it require lots of prayer and grace before we are made willing to surrender to the decrees of our Lord and Ruler. May the Lord grant you all grace as you seek to know Him better. John |

12 | How would you respond to their claim? | Romans | hobbs | 168188
Thanks Lionheart, I agree with you that the Gospel alone is THE power of God for salvation. Mere argument based on human reason has not resulted in a single soul being saved. But, as you probably have experienced yourself, getting a person to listen to the Gospel is half the battle. The difficulty with postmodernistic thinkers is that to them truth is relative; they will say that whats true for you may not necesarily be true for them. How would you respond to their claim? |

13 | The Gospel and Postmodernism | Prov 21:2 | hobbs | 168183
The men's group at our church has been studying the effects of Postmodernism on the culture, and, the problems and opportunities it presents for our presentation of the Gospel. Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Specifically, I am looking for an entrance through the arguements which "postmodernists" throw up in an effort to thwart our presentation of the good news. I would appreciate input from those of you on forum that may cast light on this topic. Thanks, John |
