1 | A seeming difference: Gen. 24:8 and 41? | Gen 24:41 | epbentley | 139715 | ||
Why is there an apparant difference between what Abraham told the servant in Genesis 24:8 and here? In verse 8 Abraham says his servant will be free of his oath if the woman isn't willing, but when the servant relays the conversation, he implies that the family can also nix the deal. Is this just deference and diplomacy on the part of the servant toward the family? Or is something else going on? Like the servant is expanding his mandate on his own? epbentley |
