1 | Don't understand Revelation and 1 Cor 15 | 1 Cor 15:28 | cuhigher | 228250
I've been looking at Revelation and comparing it with 1 Cor 15.24-28 and there seem to be some contradictions. I don't really believe they are contradictions but I just don't understand. Example: Rev 11.15 and he shall reign FOREVER AND EVER.. But 1 Cor 15.25 for he must reign, TILL HE HATH PUT ALL ENEMIES UNDER HIS FEET. Also Rev 21.8 but the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is THE SECOND DEATH. Compare with 1 Cor 15.25,26 for he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. THE LAST ENEMY THAT SHALL BE DESTROYED IS DEATH. And Rev 22.2 ...the leaves of the tree were for the HEALING of the nations. But in ! Cor 15.28 ALL THINGS shall be SUBDUED unto him... that God may be ALL IN ALL. If all things are subdued to Him and God is all in all, how could there be any need for healing? He is completely holy and whole. |

2 | ordo salutis | Rom 8:31 | cuhigher | 193366
Thanks Doc, I sure agree. What I meant though, is what does it matter if you believe there are 9 steps or 7 steps to glorification? What does it matter if regeneration is #4 or #5 on your list? How does it affect our relationship and day-to-day walking with the Lord? |

4 | Significance of -Ordo Salutis- | Rom 8:31 | cuhigher | 193339
Dear Doc, I picked up on this post from your response to Val re jun barabara's question about being born again. Could you paraphrase it in more simpler terms? And from a practical day-to-day perspective of following Christ, why would it be important for a believer to understand this theological distinction? Thanks. |

5 | I will pour out of My Spirit | Acts 2:17 | cuhigher | 193091
Dear Tim, Thank you very much for your response. May I ask a few follow-up questions? 1. You stated that Peter said that the events of the first Pentecost were the fulfillment of Joel's prophecy. As far as I can tell, Joel did not mention a single or specific day in this passage, but rather said that it shall be “in the last days… I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit… before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come.” How can this be reconciled? 2. Joel’s prophecy begins in Ac 2:17 and continues through verse 21. Was Peter saying that this entire passage was fulfilled on the first Pentecost? 3. Is it possible that the first Pentecost was just the beginning of the fulfillment of this prophecy? 4. You said that it is certainly “possible” that God will yet again pour out His Spirit in some remarkable way. My understanding is that our God does not will that anyone should perish, but that it is His desire that everyone should come to repentance and be spared eternity in the lake of fire. If we ourselves are in tune with His heart – and desire what He desires – is there a reason why we should not be actively standing in faith, and crying out to Him to see such an unprecedented outpouring of His Spirit to draw the unsaved to Himself? 14But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: "Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words. 15"For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day; 16but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: 17 ‘AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS; 18EVEN ON MY BONDSLAVES, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT AND THEY SHALL PROPHESY. 19'AND I WILL GRANT WONDERS IN THE SKY ABOVE AND SIGNS ON THE EARTH BELOW, BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND VAPOR OF SMOKE. 20'THE SUN WILL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD, BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME. 21'AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.' |

6 | I will pour out of My Spirit | Acts 2:17 | cuhigher | 193058
Some Christians believe that before the return of Christ there is yet coming a massive outpouring of the Spirit of God, such as the world has never seen. Others believe that this will not happen since the Bible speaks of a great falling away in the last days. I came across the vision at www.etpv.org/1996-97/thegiant.html and would like to ask how you believe its contents lines up with Scripture. Thanks. |

8 | What about the pastor? | 1 Sam 16:7 | cuhigher | 192958
Thanks Hank for your reply. I quoted 1 Sam 16:7 because it was used as a justification for the immodest attire, and Rom 13:10 because I believe it shows that someone with a right spirit would not knowingly dress in a way as to cause their brother to stumble. Follow-up question: what would be your take on a pastor who allows immodestly dressed women to lead worship and teach young children in the church, because he insists that even though they need to mature they have a heart to serve God, and he doesn't want to offend them? |

9 | What's happening in the heart? | 1 Sam 16:7 | cuhigher | 192954
Rom 13:10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. 1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. My question is regarding immodest attire being worn by women who consider themselves to be Christians. It seems that by the time she is an adult, any young woman (Christian or not) would well know that the majority of men are very vulnerable to sexual sin/temptation. I've been told that it's possible for women to continue to dress in a sexually provocative manner even when their heart is right. Agree or disagree? |

10 | Disregard or confront? | 1 Pet 4:8 | cuhigher | 192926
Appreciate your insights on how these two passages compliment each other. When should we disregard and when should we confront? Thanks. 1 Peter 4:8 Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]. Luke 17:3 Pay attention and always be on your guard [looking out for one another]. If your brother sins (misses the mark), solemnly tell him so and reprove him, and if he repents (feels sorry for having sinned), forgive him. |
