1 | Is New Testament Inspired by God | Bible general Archive 4 | confused??? | 221786
Why is the New Testament considered inspired by God? I mean there were plenty of letters and books being used in various early churches. I understand the councils deciding which books to canonize and so forth, but isn't an awful lot of faith put on the fact that these guys made proper decisions? And most of these NT books were letters to churches. Was what Paul (and others) wrote actual truth inspired by God or merely his opinion. His opinion is still better than any preacher I have heard, but that doesn't mean it comes from God. Not saying it wasn't inspired, but just curious. I'd love to hear how you guys have settled this for yourselves. Thank you, confused??? |

2 | Is Isaiah 14 talking about Satan? | Gen 1:5 | confused??? | 219756
I can appreciate that you do not want to answer questions you feel already answered. Yes, I can read older posts on the subject. Which I have done. For that matter I can go get a book to read and not bother even asking the question on the forum. The point though is to get more opinions on the matter. The forum allows a discussion format so that the information can be directly related to my questions. I would much prefer a forum member to give me their take as to why it is believed that Isaiah 14 is referring to Satan. If anyone is willing to do so, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, confused??? |

3 | Is Isaiah 14 talking about Satan? | Gen 1:5 | confused??? | 219746
Hello, I know this is an old thread, but has anyone considered that Isaiah 14 isn't talking about Satan? Chapter 13 starts out saying that it is an oracle concerning Babylon and this continues on straight through chapter 14. In 14:4, the Lord speaks of how they will taunt the king of Babylon. Verse 10 still seems to be speaking of the king of Babylon as does verse 11. Why is it believed that verse 12 abruptly switches to talking about Satan and then somewhere before verse 22 switches back to Babylon again? confused??? |
