1 | Tim, more help please?? | Gen 2:1 | coffee | 58560
Thankyou Tim! 2:1 Your note on the meaning of 'host' was interesting and quite possibly the key for me here, so I will further explore that one. 2:2 I agree with you here. 2:3 God doing other kinds of work all the time was part of my argument for saying that we may very well still be in the 6th day, ie as He has not yet rested. Does that make sense? I need you to test my thinking here - if that is alright. 2:5 Yep, I agree with you here. This starts a more detailed account of day 6, but Tim where does this account end? Thankyou so much for your help, deb |

2 | Tim...? | Gen 2:1 | coffee | 58554
Hello Tim, I hope you are well. Thank God for your reply! Tim I really hope you are on line at the moment so that I can chat with you. My dilema here is that 2:1 says '...were completed, and all their hosts. ie, does this mean all of us too? 2:2 says that God rested not man. What does the Bible say about man entering God's rest? 2:3 Did God then go back to working His creation after the seventh day? 2:4 Moses only uses this type of sentence as an intro to a list or record of history (well I haven't yet been able to find evidence that this sentence is used at the end of what it refers to so at this point I am assuming that v4 refers to the story which follows it.) 2:5 begins to tell the account of day 6 but I cannot find an obvious end to this account, ie. to indicate we are now looking at the time after God's rest day. And so Tim, looking at all these I am trying to work out if it is feasible for us to think that we are still in the sixth day of creation. I have prayed for an answer and then spent all day searching commentaries with no luck. My first thought was: no way, as God says that all is good and so it must be the time before satan puts in his two bob in chapter 3. But then I thought, isn't all good only at the end of time? In a nut shell, is it possible that the bulk of the Bible is the story of day 6, God's creation of man? I sincerely hope this all makes some sense to you. I could not explain myself to my friend here, so hopefully you can make sense. Any ideas? Thanks again, deb |

3 | Where does the 6th day end? | Gen 2:1 | coffee | 58374
Hi Shelley, Your comment makes the assumption that 2:5 continues on but it doesn't. 2:5 goes back to day 6 and there seems to be no apparent ending. Also note 2:4. When ever Moses makes this statement (ie. 'These are the generations of') he is begining a story or list. You do not find this comment at the end of a story or list. So far, what I see is an introduction into the 6th day but with out an apparent end. Thanks anyway Shelley, does anyone out there have any learning in this? deb |

4 | Are we still in the sixth day ? | Gen 2:1 | coffee | 58303
According to this verse God had completed all of creation (all the host of them). I was told that J.'s W. believe that we are still in the sixth day. And so, I ask if any one has any learning on this subject that they would like to share. My initial response was that how could this be when God saw that all was good and then, in chapter 2 sin came and God was not happy. Then I thought about this verse, 2:1. If God had created all the hosts then would that not mean all of us too? And if this is true, then does that mean when God says all is good that He is referring to the end of creation; of our days? Hebrews would then make perfect sense to me. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks deb |

Hello Searcher. How are you today? What do you mean here as this question was directed towards flowerforlife?
7 | Matt 7:34-36? | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56522
Yes Searcher, isn't that prayer beautiful! Thankyou for your kind response and relevant scripture references. Could you please check Matt 7:34-36? I don't have that in my bible and I certainly don't know enough to work out which one you meant. Thanks again.
8 | Love, faith, hope - this is what counts. | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56506
hello, and help!! What is happening here?? Where is the love? You all have so much to offer but to argue over your interpretation of scripture may not produce the growth that you are looking for. You all seem to be intelligent people with strong faith so lets love and look out for each other hey? Nice save Hank.
9 | thankyou and follow up... | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56433
Wow! Thankyou so much for all your help. What if it was to mean church group against church group, as is happening in an underlying fashion in my country? I feel at the moment that the meaning placed on the use of nations is very important to the overall meaning of the verse, and if it is as you have both stated then it now ties in directly with the words of Paul in Ephesians 4:1-16. How do you both feel about this?
10 | thanks and ? | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56344
Thankyou for your reply. What references did you use of old greek to understand this?
11 | the use of nations? | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56334
I have noticed that the word 'nations' has not yet been discussed. Does anyone have any views or insight on the use of this word? For example, do you believe Jesus is referring to people as in plural of individual or people as in groups of people, such as churches or countries, according to your understanding of the greek meaning of the word?
12 | the great commission/evangelism? | Matt 28:19 | coffee | 56333
If this request was just directed at the apostles then why do some say it is to all? On the other hand we are not all evangelists(Eph 4:11), so is there a difference between how some say that this request or 'great commission' was intended for all? - ie, does evangelists have a different meaning to spreading the word of God in order to convert? Why do I ask this? Because I see a great deal of conflict in interpretation and I personally think this is ok; however, when it is to provoke guilt I feel that it stops being of good intent and to force one's own interpretation on to another is not so good. For example, look at the diverse answers to the first question in this verse forum. All three answers are very different and to me that is ok. I sometimes think that we will only ever gets bits of it right but God knows it all and so trust Him. |
