1 | Need advice about spreading the Gospel | Rom 10:14 | chynna | 136110
Has anyone here personally experienced success in getting the Gospel across to an atheist? Could someone maybe recommend a book on how to discuss the Gospel with one? And this is really my dilemma at the moment,is it worthwhile going through the effort of trying to prove God through attempting to outwit an atheist in a game of logics over the existence of God? Thanks in advance for any advice.
2 | Isaiah Chapter 11 | Bible general Archive 1 | chynna | 62927
Should Isaiah Chapter 11 verses.....5 through 11 be taken literally or are they symbolic? I was reading some literature from the JWS this past weekend and it was discussing this and appeared to take it literally. Are these verses referring to the 1000 year reign of Christ?

5 | The Messiah and miracles | Is 35:5 | chynna | 49137
Does the old testament state the Messiah would perform miracles?
6 | Disbelief after witnessing a miracle? | Matt 12:13 | chynna | 48316
Matthew 12:13-14 Jesus performs a miracle of healing in front of the Pharisees. In verse 14, they then begin to plot His death. If you just saw someone perform a miracle where they made someone's hand normal, wouldn't you, at the very least, suspect the person had a higher power than mere humans? I don't understand how someone(s) could plot Jesus's death considering they just saw Him perform a miracle.
7 | A hypothetical question | Bible general Archive 1 | chynna | 47771
We die and find ourselves awaiting judgement. Jesus is there. God is there. Satan is there. Interestingly enough, they are placing judgement on an unbeliever and you are observing. This soul is more than likely going to hell because they didn't accept Christ. Jesus suddenly turns to you and asks what should be done. You have accepted Christ as your savior and feel certain you are destined for heaven. Would you damn the soul to hell or would you find it in yourself to be merciful?
8 | A passage to comfort a grieving person? | Matt 5:4 | chynna | 47767
Is there a passage in the Bible that I could use to comfort someone that just lost a loved one? I don't know if they were Christian or not. Thanks for any help.
9 | Help. Someone's testamony has me upset | Bible general Archive 1 | chynna | 45259
Help. My faith isn't shaken, but I'm suddenly questioning everything that brought me to God. Someone posted their testamony on another board yesterday. It was amazing and left me in awe. The man said that while driving to work, he was lifted up out of his car by a bright light and found himself in heaven in front of God. He said that God showed him heaven and then gave him the ability for a moment to think like God so he could understand the reasoning behind everything God created. He said that God told him if he believed in His Son, all that would be his. Then he found himself back in the car, stopped in the middle of a freeway. This supposedly is a man that didn't believe and at the urging of some friends was baptised anyway. He thought the whole thing a joke until this happened. The more I got to thinking about this last night, the more I got to doubting the more subtle things in my life that I attribute to God. I started questioning whether I wanted God to be behind the things that happened and therefore just believed it to be so. I couldn't sleep last night it upset me so. I've worried about it all morning. The things I felt sure where God are suddenly in question for me. I don't like it.

11 | Was the serpent satan or just a serpent? | Gen 3:1 | chynna | 44651
Genesis 1:29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground - everything that has the breath of life in it - I give every green plant for food. Genesis 2:15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." (I can't help but notice God only commanded man not eat from this tree. The animals don't seem to be a part of this restriction. They were allowed to eat from every seed bearing plant and tree.) Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" 2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die." (It appears the serpent has already tasted the fruit and knows and its eyes have been opened) Genesis 3:14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals!" Is the serpent really satan? This is why God punished not only man, but animals too. But where is satan in this picture? |

12 | A question about God's creation plans | Gen 2:18 | chynna | 43252
God created animals prior to creating man. He created male and female of every species. When He created man He only created Adam at first. It's unclear from the bible whether Adam was created a child or an adult and how long he remained alone. Why didn't God automatically create a female human?
13 | Question about Church on Wednesday night | Heb 10:25 | chynna | 43193
I'm finding it difficult to make it to Wednesday night Bible study. I study the Bible every day though, usually later in the evenings after the children are put to bed, but I understand I'm missing out on the fellowship that takes place on Wednesday nights at church. I have two questions. Why do churches meet on Wednesday nights? Is it okay to skip Wednesday nights at church?
14 | Seeing and talking to God vs praying | Deut 4:1 | chynna | 41730
In the old testament, God actually appeared spoke with Adam, Moses, Abraham, Jacob, etc,. How come there isn't a place in the New Testament where God actually appears and speaks with Jesus, His Son? Before Jesus is crucified we see Him praying to the Lord at Gethsemane. Did Adam, Moses and Abraham pray as well? Or could they simply speak with God? It just seems odd that the Son of God prays to communicate with His Father, where Adam, Moses and Abraham saw Him face to face.
15 | A man's soul vs a woman's soul | Gal 3:28 | chynna | 41482
Is a man's soul worth more to God than a female's soul? Or are we all created equal at this point?
16 | Paul's view of women and marriage | 1 Cor 7:1 | chynna | 40310
1Corinhians 7:1 It is good for man not to marry. But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband... Verse 7: I wish that all men were as I am. Paul thinks that men should not marry or become involved with women. He is essentially saying that men who get married are less worthy in God's eyes than men like him. They have a weakness that Paul didn't have. With these statements, I take it Paul probably thought sexual intercourse between those married was a weakness and not something God would condone. I'm confused. What is Paul saying here? |

17 | Mission trips, questionable? | Phil 4:8 | chynna | 40270
When should church mission trips become questionable? Should missionaries only go where people have never heard of Christianity? Is it acceptable to go places that are predominately catholic, like Mexico, to try to convert them to another christian point of view? Is it deemed acceptable for the pastor's wife and other elders to bring their wives on these trips? Should it be suspect if the places they go sound more like nice vacation spots, Mexico, Russia, Beleze?
18 | Is God he, she or neither? | Gen 2:4 | chynna | 39996
Is God a he,she or neither? The Bible clearly says He. But when God created humans and animals He clearly understood the difference between male and female. Can there be a heavenly Father without a heavenly mother? Why specify He, if there isn't a 'she' to clarify the word 'he' against? Can God be a 'he' if He is spirit? Some people say the word for God in the original language of the Bible is neither male nor female.
19 | Is God with us at all times? | Matt 28:20 | chynna | 39737
Is God with each and every one of us at all times? Although I can't conceive how this would be so, I tend to think this is true. However, I'm confused as to why God asked Adam and Eve if they had eaten from the tree of good and evil. Wouldn't He have known? And if He hadn't of known, does this mean He is sometimes absent from us?
20 | Could satan be saved? | John 16:11 | chynna | 39759
Is it possible that satan could repent before God gives His final judgement? Humans can be saved at any time before death and judgement if they are truly repentent. Can fallen angels?
