1 | Presence of God | Amos 1:1 | Verne8 | 51697
I heard a sermon last night that I don't totally agree with. Therefore, I am seeking wise counsel in this matter. It was said that since we have the Holy Spirit living within us at all times it is unnecessary/wrong/inappropriate to ever ask for the presence of God to fill, say, a sanctuary for a time of worship since He is already there. Any thoughts pro or con would be most appreciated. I just want to know the truth. Blessings, Verne
2 | Christianity vs. Paganism | Bible general Archive 1 | Verne8 | 35430
Can anyone direct me to a GOOD book that counters the points made by pagans against Christianity? I have a son and a nephew that are enthralled by Wicca and I need to be able to show them the "error of their ways" so to speak. They do not respect the Bible or its contents. Therefore quoting Scripture is about as affective as reading from the phone book. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...Verne
3 | Seeds, Palms... | Ps 92:12 | Verne8 | 35170
A while back when studying Ps 92:12 the Lord impressed me to learn about palm trees. I thought this was rather odd, but I was obedient. I did a rather intensive study and it was interesting, but..I still didn't "understand". I put it out of my mind. The other night as I was studying, the Lord was teaching me about seeds. And, immediately the palm tree popped back into mind. Of course, the seed of the palm is the coconut. I have been engaged in a study of coconuts since. What I have found has been very interesting. And, now, little by little I am starting to understand the bigger picture. I would appreciate any insight on either palms, seeds or this verse in general. I discern that this is an important issue for my life and I am seeking the counsel of my wise brothers and sisters. Many thanks.. Verne
4 | Kairos vs. Chronos | Eph 6:18 | Verne8 | 34888
Kairos vs. Chronos..In Ephesians 6:18 the word used for time is kairos. I have always understand this to mean a perscribed period of time vs. time in general---chronos. It was my understanding, always, of this verse that we are being called to pray when the Lord prescibes a stated time for us to pray for a specific person or situation. I am a bit confused with these two Greekk words. Any help?? Thanks!
