1 | Once saved always saved ??? | Bible general Archive 2 | Timothy Hart | 143181
The question of salvation came up between a friend and myself. He and I agree that once saved always saved, except in the event that you reject God. Well if that is true then we then have to define rejection. He thinks by some undertermined amount of sinning and or lack of good works you are in essence "rejecting God". Where I would define rejection as a state of mind that says " I dont want God or what He has to offer". Now I guess what really bothers me is in my mind I choose to believe in Christ and the work He did but I am not doing so well in the works department. Is my salvation in jeopardy? I have always thought of it this way, get saved....go to heaven. do good works ......be blessed in this world and in heaven. Dont do good works and sin.....curses in this world but still go to heaven. LOL im starting to confuse myself :) Any clarity in this MUCH appreciated |

2 | To sacrifice or not to sacrifice ? | 1 Sam 15:22 | Timothy Hart | 120191
NIV Psalm 40 5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. 6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. 7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come- it is written about me in the scroll. Psalm 51 15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise Here are 2 verses that say the Lord does not desire, delight, take pleasure or even require burnt offerings. I think there are some other similar references that I cannot find at the moment. After reading the old testament system of tabernacle sacrafice setup by God , what are we to make of these verses ? |
