1 | When do people receive the Seal/Gift of | 2 Cor 1:22 | Searching Gods Heart | 183803
Thanks for the response. I have studied this subject, (NIV) not in super depth, but I have had conversations of late that seems there are different views/opinions of that gift of the Holy Spirit. In the OT, Psalms 51:11, David is pleading not to take the Holy Spirit, Isaiah 63:11, he set his Holy Spirit among them. In the NT, Luke 2:25, Simon was waiting for the Holy Spirit. Luke 3:16, John said, “He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Acts 2:1, Holy Sprit comes at Pentecost, Acts 2:38, Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. So is it at God discretion or at baptism? Since the Apostles had the power; Acts 8… 17- Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 19- Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” So the question is: When do people receive the Seal/Gift of the Holy Spirit? I question this because I have encounter people who claim to be “Christians and say they have the Spirit”, but their lives do not parallel their words. Moreover, how does one ensure they have that seal? In living by the Spirit, Galatians 5:22, that is one way but in Ephesians 1:13 is says; And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. So I am looking for solid scripture that gives us the SEAL. Thanks much. Searching Gods Heart
