1 | Isa. 5:14 - why "Jerusalem" in text? | Is 5:14 | Rich Saum | 120455
The NASB has included in Isaiah 5:14 the word "Jerusalem", which I fail to find in either the Massoretic text or in Kohlenberger's INTERLINEAR HEBREW-ENGLISH OLD TESTAMENT. I realize that the verb "descend" is masculine and all the other words appear to be feminine, but I'm still at a loss why it is seemingly inserted here. I am teaching through the Book of Isaiah in an expository manner, and those using the NIV noticed that Jerusalem was not in their translation. I see that even in the Amplified that Jerusalem is in brackets! Explanation please... preferably in terms that I can communicate to my class!
