In Acts5:1-11 Peter and John addressed the congregation and instructed them to sell their possessions and bring them the proceeds. A man named Ananias and his wife Sapphira sold their land but withheld “some” of the proceeds. When questioned by Peter they each lied and said they had given over all the money. Both were struck dead. At no time in the life of Christ did he ever so much as harm anyone, let alone strike them dead. He scolded them, showed them their evil ways with parables and most importantly, offered them the opportunity to repent. Why then this intolerance and angry retribution from Peter (or God)? | ||||||

All of the Old Testament prophecies and references in the New Testament refer to Jesus (or the Messiah) as being descended from the line of Abraham and David. However, in Matthew 1-16 His lineage traces to Joseph not Mary. Since Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, there would be no blood connection to those Old Testament patriarchs. How is this justified? | ||||||
