1 | Theological Question | James 1:25 | Monica57 | 104077
Does anyone know why the Old Testament says that if we love God and obey his commandments we will be blessed and in the New Testament it says that if we love God/Jesus and obey his commandments we will be persecuted? I'm not asking this question because I'm persected. I'm asking a theological question. I would like a theological answer. Thanks! |

2 | Satan caste to earth... | Bible general Archive 2 | Monica57 | 104049
In the OT, if we love God and obey his commandments, we are blessed. In the NT, if we love God, and obey his commandments, we will be persecuted. I believe the difference lies in Luke 10:18 and Revelation 12:13 whereby Satan has been cast to earth. My thoughts are that this happened directly before, after or during Jesus's ministry on earth. Any ideas?
3 | Luke 10:18 | 2 Tim 3:12 | Monica57 | 103986
Luke 10:18, Does anyone know what this means? I've noticed the Old Testament is slightly different in that good behavior (following the Lord) is rewarded and bad behavior is punished (idolatry, etc). In the NT however, Jesus says that we will find persecution if we follow him, and certainly the examples of the apostles show this is true. I'm wondering if Satan falling to earth happened around the time of Jesus, and hence the change in logic. What do you think?
