1 | Self-control..Spirit or Self? | Titus 2:5 | Lissamz | 213738
Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I'm doing a study of self-control. My question is because the Greek word "sophron" is used in this verse and the word "Egkrateia" is used in Galatians 5:23. Is "sophron" an act that we work out within ourselves, therefore leaving "egkraeia" something that we recieve from the Holy Spirit? Please use Scripture to answer this question. Thanks Saints. |

2 | Greiving the Holy Spirit | Is 63:10 | Lissamz | 213492
Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I read this verse and cross-referenced to Eph 4:30 and 1 Thess 5:19. What exactly is grieving or quenching the Spirit of God? |

3 | The Humble Jesus.... | Phil 2:8 | Lissamz | 213359
Hello Brothers and Sisters, I'm interested...Is humility an attribute of God or was it just an attitude of Christ while on earth? I've searched under Christ and humility and Jesus and humility and this was the only verse I could find. Thank you in advance and God multiply His peace to you. |

4 | Is it God speaking?? | James 1:5 | Lissamz | 213299
Hello, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, My question is a little personal, but I'm desperate. I have read this Scripture for years and asked for wisdom. I have problems, though, because I feel like I cannot hear God. I might also mention that I'm bipolar and have had problems with my emotions and feelings. I feel like I can't discern and hear God. I read the Word daily and seek what it says. I work on what it tells me God wants me to be and how He wants my heart to be before Him. But others talk of God speaking to them and speaking to their hearts. Am I the only one that this doesn't happen to? Even when I feel that it was God speaking to me I think over it again and again until I don't know if it was God or just over-thinking. Please help! I really want to be what God wants, but spend much time in confusion, thinking that I have missed out on God's rhema word to me, because I analyze it out of my mind. |

5 | The Light...? | Bible general Archive 4 | Lissamz | 213014
The Scripture is John 8:12...It says "Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life." What is the "Light of life" in this passage? Is it Jesus Himself?
6 | The Light is...? | Bible general Archive 4 | Lissamz | 212990
What exactly does light mean in the Scriptures? I know it uncovers darkness. I know it uncovers deeds. I know that it is in the Person of Jesus? But what exactly does the light mean for the Christian?
7 | Peace's Effect and Result | Is 32:17 | Lissamz | 210532
Hello, I found this Scripture when looking up reference verses on Romans 5:1. I was truly touched as the Holy Spirit quickened me to look this verse up in several translations of the Bible that I own and online. I think it is beautiful. I wondered though, in the AMP why the first verse says effect, then the second verse says result? Is there a difference and why different words were used? Of course the AMP doesn't have a concordance, so I found no help there. So, anyone have any idea, based on Scripture? Thank you and God bless.
8 | God | John 14:27 | Lissamz | 203583
Hello Everyone..I suffer from Bipolar, which is a terrible ordeal to go through on a hour to hour basis. I cry out to the Lord a lot with just simple prayers like, "Adonai, keep me from hurting myself and others. Abba, help me to keep my sanity right now. LORD, don't let me fall from you fingers." I cry out to the Lord more than anything else I do in a day. I do feel He is listening...matter of fact I know. I stumbled upon this verse tonight in my AMP Bible. "Agitated, disturbed, fearful, cowardly, unsettled" all describe me right now. And to hear Him come down from Heaven and speak this into my heart makes me wail, because He cares that much. Now I know I need His peace. His unmovable peace. His sustaining peace. But I don't know if I can find that peace all the time. When I'm having a break down all that can go through my head are negative, violent thoughts, put there by satan. How do I seek this peace in the bad times. (And I mean bad times to the 100th degree). How have some of you done this and what Scriptures do you use? Disclaimer: I have a psychiartist, and a Christain counselor. I'm not looking for a diagnosis or someone to talk to. I'm looking to the Lord's Word to heal my pain and suffering. Please share anything that you may know or have. Thank you so much. May God bless and shine His countenance on you all. Lissamz |

9 | Hatred..Am I truly a Christian?? | Matt 5:44 | Lissamz | 202831
I have a problem in my life and I can't get over it. I've cried out to God for help and tried to get over it, but it hasn't happened. I actually truly and fully hate someone in my life right now. I have even questioned whether or not I am a true Christian because of this. I can't shake this sin in my life. The person i hate is very close to me and I can't seem to get away. I question if I am to be damned because of this hatred. Please someone answer and give me a place in the Word that I can go to, that I can find my way back to love and not hate. Lissamz |

10 | Gen. 2:24 or Ex 20:12?? | Gen 2:24 | Lissamz | 156948
Hello Saints, I am asking a pretty difficult question, but this is because I have been placed in a very difficult situation. I am married, recently, and very happy with my husband. His mother on the other hand has all but said that she hates me. We were engaged for 2 1/2 years and went out for 8 months before that, so this is no fly-by-night relationship and I can't see how she didn't see our marriage coming. She is a Bible-toter, that doesn't live her life in any accordance to the Word, with the way she acts and treats others. (Ohh goodness, her mouth is atrocious!!) My husband and I are concerned about obeying Ex. 20:12 and honoring her. We recently heard Chip Ingram's program and he stated that if parents are bringing a wedge between husband and wife then honoring (in our case right now he is listening to her speak negatively about me, our relationship, etc. instead of ignoring her) the parents is not the case. And that in this instance parents should not be honored. I wanted to know if this is Biblical advice, because we are stuck between wanting to honor her and trying to cease the problems in our marriage, because of her negativity. Please answer with Scriptures, if possible. Thank you and God bless. |

11 | Anointing?? | 1 John 2:27 | Lissamz | 147021
Hello Saints, I already read the previous postings on this verse and still have a question that was debatable in the context the remarks were made. Simply put, I know that all believers are anointed by God (2 Cor. 1:21), that abides in us (the Holy Spirit), but is there also another such anointing in the case of "spiritual gifts." Such as, a brother being 'anointed' with the gift of discernment or a sister being 'anointed' with the gift of prophecy? Thanks Saints, Lissa |

12 | Still a little cloudy for me... | Heb 5:14 | Lissamz | 146943
Thanks for the input Searcher56, I am still a little cloudy about whether testing the spirits (1 Jn 4:1) is actually connected to discernment (referring to Heb. 5:14). Hmmm, I guess I would ask if spiritual discernment comes forth from testing the spirits?? (Looking forward to an answer, please respond as soon as you can!) hidden in Christ, Lissa |

13 | Discerning Christians? | Heb 5:14 | Lissamz | 146880
Hello Saints, "...senses trained to discern good and evil." I have heard of 'mature Christians', being able to discern the 'spirit' of other 'individuals' that say that they are Christians, but 'supposedly' are not, because they 'feel' or have a certain 'knowledge' (not physical proof of any kind) that the 'individual' is not of the same spirit in the Lord. There are a lot of quotations, because I have wondered about this being true or not. I will be praying about this subject, but would also like to know if there is any Biblical support for this other than the above portion of this verse and Gal. 5:17. Thanks Saints...God bless and shine His countenance upon you all. hidden in Christ, Lissa |

15 | Diff. btw receiving and being filled | Luke 11:13 | Lissamz | 146006
I read this posting that you have and would like to ask you the basis therefore on the Scripture concerning being filled with the Holy Spirit: Acts 9:17 "So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." And Acts 13:52 "And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit." What is the difference between a believer receiving the Holy Spirit at conversion and being "filled" with the Holy Spirit? (A little background on reason for question: I have been saved since 2000 and only recently at an evening church service, actually asked the LORD to fill me with the Holy Spirit, after much prayer focused on being filled with the Holy Spirit in the last 6 months and finally I have had a life-altering change in my relationship with being fully aware of the Presence of the LORD in my life. I don't know what to account for this change, but the "filling" of the Holy Spirit.) Thanks! |

16 | Meditating on the Word | Ps 1:2 | Lissamz | 142783
Hello Saints, This has been an in-depth study of mine over this verse. I have always looked at the Jewish people that stand before the Wailing Wall, seemingly "mumbling" and even studied 1 Samuel 1:12-13 with Hannah's prayer for God to open her womb and Eli's negative reply. So, I've been a little self-concscience and stand-offish about the topic of spoken "prayer". Then, to my surprise I discovered that the word meditate in Hebrew does equte to meaning "mumble" or "speak to one's self". So, therefore I conclude this means speaking the Word outloud, (not neccessarily yelling it, of course.) I have began to pray from the Word a lot more and find that the Spirit will give utterance during my times of prayer flying me through other Scriptures that my prayers are more Christ-centered and Christ-glorifying. I wouldn't equate what I have discovered through the Word with the new, fad-ish "name-it-claim-it" movement, but would like to know if there are any other saints that have found this to be true and have begun to have a more Spirit-led and Christ-centered prayer life, by meditating on Scripture, not to get understanding (though, I do know that understanding and wisdom of the Word, also is a function of the Holy Spirit because of Col. 2:2 "that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ" But in the realm of meditation-led prayer, I have definitely noticed that since I've been a place of total dependence and desire for God, I have seen great increase in other places, but more noticably here. And through this, I'm praying that my fruitfulness would increase to His glory and His alone!! Hallelujah! God is so good and great! |

17 | Praising and Satan Fleeing?? | Ps 22:3 | Lissamz | 137636
Brothers and Sisters, I truly love this verse! I heard something, though, from my mother-in-law about this verse that I wanted to clarify. She says that when spiritual warfare is at it's worse, praise the Lord!! (Which I believe she is correct- we should always praise the Holy One, no matter what the situation.) But the comment she made was this "When we praise the Lord and begin to worship, Satan flees." Is this Biblical?? I do know that Satan can be in the Presence of the Lord (in Job), but I do not know of any verse supporting this comment. I do realize though that she could be referencing to the fact that it so upsets Satan to see and hear glory given to God that he hightails it out of there! Anyway, verses or comments are appreciated!! God bless and shine His countenance upon you all! hidden in Christ, Lissa |

18 | Study Bible | 2 Tim 2:15 | Lissamz | 137376
Brothers and Sisters, This is not actually a question about this verse, but is a pertinent. I am looking for a KJV study Bible and have been told to steer clear of the Scofield line. I already own NASB, KJV, and NKJV versions. I am trying to see if any of you own a Thompson Chain-Reference and if so, if it is a study Bible that contains notes that stick to the word of God and rightly divide the Word. Thanks! hidden in Christ, Lissa |

19 | References to His Command | Ps 27:8 | Lissamz | 136915
Saints, I've been studying this verse and have found no reference verses for "When You said, "Seek My Face" I looked in the NASB, NKJV, and the KJV. Also, looked in my concordance under "seek" and "face" with no luck. If any of you know of any verses that relate to this passage of Scripture and the command of the Lord to seek His face, please refer me to them. hidden in Christ, Lissa |

20 | The little words | James 3:9 | Lissamz | 136708
Matt 12:34 reads O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. This is really only about the latter section of the verse, though "for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." The question I have is kind of personal. My ex-fiancee that I still talk to daily says a lot of things that bother me personally (I don't want to say that he says them to bother or irritate me.) But I get highly aggrevated sometimes in our conversations to the point that I want to get off the phone. The main thing that scrapes my nerves is when he answers "whatever" to just casual conversation. It won't be an arguement or even a passive aggressive situation, but he's constantly using this word, with other words and phrases that grind my nerves, too. Me, personally as a Christian, pray everyday that the Lord would bridle my tongue and make me aware of what I am saying (yes, the actual words.) Are there any other verses that can put this Scripture and it's practical application in a more clear light? Should I be reading his words this deeply or am I overreacting? |
