1 | Is the Law opposed to Grace? | Rom 7:12 | Faithful_Providence | 69278
Is the Law which came through Moses opposed to Grace? In my current reading of Galatians it would appear on the surface that Paul taught that the law was in opposition to grace, and many believe that to be the case. But I believe that Paul used the greek word "nomos" because there was no term for legalism in the Greek. Jesus told his followers that if anyone who choose to break the laws of Moses he would be called the least. Therefore I don't believe that is what Pual was teaching. That would put him in opposition with Jesus. I believe a more careful reading of Galations and the Sermon on the Mount would prove that both Y'eshua and Paul were both opposed to legalism, and legalistic righteousness, but that the both were living under God's Grace in the beauty and majesty of the law. Let me know if you believe the Law and Grace are in opposition--and tell me why you believe they are ... or are not. |

2 | When and who changed the Sabbath? | NT general Archive 1 | Faithful_Providence | 68946
When did the Sabbath day change? How soon did Jewish Christians switch from the Sabbath to worshipping Sunday? As I read the New Testament. Paul Continued to meet with Christians and Jews every Sabbath as was His Custom. I don't know that there was a thorough departure from the sabbath until some very heavy handed anti-semitism entered into the church about 150 to 200 AD. Can anyone verify this for me? I was under the impression that it was Constantinople that Baptized his entire army in one day and declared them all Christians before they went off to war against their enemies ... And that he continued to worship another Roman god, called Sol (he was into syncretism) and that Sunday is related to Sol, or the god of the Sun. |
