1 | Horses eating horses? | Bible general | sonofmom | 240050
Discussing Book of Revelation w/a friend, I was informed that it was all symbolism, to which I replied that the symbolism is explained within the Bible. I was also told that a favorite (symbol) was where horses were eating other horses. I do not recall seeing this, can anyone help me to help this brother to see the light in this wonderful Book? |

3 | The Cross removed power of sin for all? | NT general | sonofmom | 242088
Hello Saints, I have continually been trying to teach my son some biblical truth, and he became interested in a church, so I looked up what their belief system was and this is what I found, and I do not think it is biblically accurate. What do you think? I do not want to say that they are teaching wrong and then find out I am the one mistaken, but I want my son to walk in the truth. Now, contained within the statement of church beliefs is this: "Someday, our Messiah will come back to Earth to redeem all those that are His, those that have been grafted into the commonwealth of Israel (Rom 11, Eph 2). Then He will reign from the New Jerusalem for 1000 years (1 Thes 3:13, Rev 20:4). After that period, God will raise up the rest of the dead, and the entire Earth will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment (Rev 20:5)." I am seeing that these verses are being taken out of context, and are not accurately used as prooftext in the proper place, because my belief is that Jesus has been given power over death and hades Matt 27:52 relates, "and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life." This to me is saying that the dead in Christ will be raised on two different events? Also, the part about the whole world being judged at the Great White Throne, I do not think that Christians will face judgment at the Throne, but later, at the Bema seat judgment. Am I correct in this? Along the same line, the church statement says, "•What was destroyed at the cross, in fact, was the power of sin and the penalty thereof over all of mankind." Now, I do not want to get picky here, but the power of sin is not taken away for all of mankind, or there would be no justice, I would think. Am I correct, or am I in the wrong in this? I have been working too hard ately to have as much time to study and research as I used to, so your help is greatly appreciated |

4 | Is God capable of sarcasm, are people 1? | Gen 3:22 | sonofmom | 223954
This verse in Gen 11:6 seems to be sarcasm, as God is using it to ridicule those who are constructing the Tower of Babel. Can the verse be applied to people today, as in God's people being one? I do not see much evidence of this. So the verse must be interpreted in context. In the prior chapter, Noah's sons are listed and they are divided, but in the first verse of ch 11 it says they were all of one language. So then in vs 8, when the Lord scatters them and they leave to go buid the city, is this the same city which is mentioned in vs 4? Is God even capable of sarcasm? It seems so, fo in Gen 3:22, God uses it to ridicule again, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil... Sorry so many questions, but they are all related to verse 6 |

8 | (All these) Signs of the end times | Matt 24:33 | sonofmom | 241647
The Palastine Authority's Saeb Erekat has a plan before the UN,for Palastine to be recognized as a State, and plans for this to happen before the end of the year. The motion recognizes Israel building settlements in the West Bank to be illegal and threatening. They are pushing for the Two-State solution, and with a specific time frame to end Israel's occupation. This is a very exciting time to be alive, as I see God's plan for the end times to be picking up speed. in Matt 24:32, Jesus said, take a lesson from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; (v33) so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door.… What things will we look for in addition? Are there other verses that point the way, I am thinking along the lines of a third temple being built. Thank you for your help |

10 | Free in Christ | John 8:31 | sonofmom | 240328
What does it mean to be "Free In Christ"? I am aware of being free from the law of sin and death, but I had a interview with a pastor today who talked of the centrality of God's word and then he claimed to be free in Christ which seemed to allow him some latitude but am not sure what. |

11 | should it be Easter, or Passover? | Heb 12:24 | sonofmom | 221768
Should Christians celebrate Passover or Easter? I am dismayed by the amount of pagan influences that are connected with this holiday. My church doesn't say 'Happy Easter', but instead, 'Happy Resurrection Day' I do not want to partake in the festivities of coloring eggs, but allow it for the grandkids' sake. Does Passover have a connection with the resurrection? |

12 | Is Passover connected with Resurrection | Heb 12:24 | sonofmom | 221771
Does Passover have a connection with the resurrection? There are many people who are very devout in their celebration of passover, and I would like to know if there is a modern connection. I feel led to remove myself further from the celebration of Easter, which stems from ishtar. All the God-fearing people who celebrate Passover can not be considered as going backwards. Did not Jesus celebrate Passover? |

15 | Do they who reign live 900 years? | Rev 20:1 | sonofmom | 224868
During a get-together at a church, a man said that those who would be reigning with Christ were to be alive for 900 years-plus, as in the days before the flood. I questioned that notion, and the pastor actually agreed with him so I asked where the Bible might mention such a thing. I was told it was somewhere in Isaiah. Can anybody tell me what they might be speaking of? |
