2 | The real price of a Bible? | Bible general | justme | 240581
Why would a conservative, Bible believing, Born again Christian leader want to met with the Roman Catholic Pope? I recently watch a history of the Bible under Mid Evil times. Over and over the Pope and the Catholic leaders persecuted anyone involved in any attempt the have the people get a Bible to understand Gods Word. As The movie said the went on with extreme punishment to anyone involved with getting a Bible, except Roman Catholic church leaders. This continued into the seventeenth century. Most all of the widely known Bible translators were put to death in the most barbaric painful ways, in such a way everyone could witness their death. Yet today the Roman Catholic church still practices nearly all the same unbiblical things that the early Christians like Martin Luther stood against. Have Protestants just let the issues the early Church Bible translators died for just drop away? After seeing this movie I thought most of us have at least one Bible and perhaps more Bibles at our use. When so many died so I could have a Bible that was not made under the Roman Catholic supervision, I felt ashamed. I have more than 14 Bibles and I really do not appreciate it, especially considering the blood shed it took to get the Bibles we take for granted. Why are not more Pastors telling this history so we can better love the Word of God we have and most people don't even read it? |

3 | The GENEVA BIBLE anything of interest? | Bible general | justme | 241377
The GENEVA Bible was the Bible that the early Christian arrivals in America used. The GENEVA Bible was the first Bible printed in the United States. Why has this Bible fallen out of favor over the years? I think it would be wonderful if some Bible publisher refreshed the GENEVA Bible like Lockman did for the American Standard Version. Does anyone have any more information about the Geneva Bible that would be worth sharing? |

9 | The Bible and YOU? | Bible general | justme | 242461
I have been interested in different Bibles sold in the US and the actual sales in numbers in the US. I went to CBA Retailers Resources and found the following information. Listed in order of the highest volume of number of sales first. Here are the top ten for the month of February 2014, the latest available information. 1. New International version 2. King James version 3. New King James Version 4. New Living Translation 5. English Standard version 6. Holman Christian Standard Bible 7. New International Readers Version 8. Reina Valera 1960 9. New American Standard Bible 10. Common English Bible. I found it interesting that the order of these Bible sales have stayed basically the same for the last three years. The Message used to be #10 and the N I Readers Version was not even listed in 2012. Here are my questions. Have you changes the version of the Bible you mainly use in the last three years? What Bible do you use mostly now? It has been said the Bible is one of the best selling books; but it is the least read. How often do you read your Bible? Thanks for your reply, and God Bless you. justme |

12 | APOLOSTIC BIBLE POLYGLOT ? | Bible general | justme | 242745
does anyone know anything about the APOSTOLIC BIBLE POLYGLOT? I am in a dialogue with a man who uses this Bible and we are not communicating about Scripture in a very good way. I have no idea what this Bible is. He believes Jesus was not from the beginning, but existed after God created Him. I fully disagreed with him but I am struggling with him. justme |

13 | The WORD for today | Bible general | justme | 242828
For many years I have posted I wish all of you on the Study Bible Forum MERRY CHRISTMAS May we always remember that God coming in the form of a baby is a wonder beyond our understanding. Surely the greatest wonder of all is why would Gods ONLY SON die on a cross and pay for each of our sin's and rise from death, why does He love us so? Who really can truly grasp the awesomeness of God as a baby, or Jesus paying the price to redeem us ? Who can explain the trinity, or how He hears our prayers let alone answers them? Who can understand how the Holy Spirit prays with groaning's for us? How does the Holy Spirit can convict and teach us? Bigger yet is why does He love me and you? We as FOLLOWERS respond to our LORD by FAITH. The Lords Mercy and Grace are constant never can we truly come close to doing anything but accepting all these things but only by FAITH. Once more dear brothers and sisters oh thank God that we can say with deep appreciation MERRY CHRISTMASS justme |

16 | WAR ROOM (prayer room)? | Bible general | justme | 243058
The movie WAR ROOM is an excellent tool for encouraging personal prayer. I personally have taken steps to reach out to family and friends to make a prayer room. I wonder where do you go to be in a special place to regularly pray? If so would you mind sharing it. I do not consider sharing a point of braging, but so we each might think of better ways to pray. Have you found a special book besides the Bible that encourages prayer? |

18 | Hyper calvinism and Backsliding? | Bible general | justme | 243156
I know what Calvinism is, but can you please tell me what Hyper-Calvinism is, and what the big difference is? I have heard that some SB seminaries are teaching mainly Calvinism. I find some areas I agree with and some I do not. I believe a Christian can backslide. I have been told there is no such belief in backsliding for those who accept Calvinism. Any thoughts?
19 | The SBF what does it need to do? | Bible general | justme | 243448
I am going to be bold here. The SBF has very few who post any more. We have prayed about this for sometime. I would like to open this up to suggestions as to what do you think the SBF needs to do to be alive and active once again. Be honest and even pray before you post. Lockman has dome a lot to keep the SBF up all these years. Now its time for us who are earnest about keeping the SBF relevant and a place we can be open with our questions and concerns about the Bible and our growth as Christians. Now its your turn what do we need to hear? |

20 | The right Bible for you? | Bible general | justme | 243571
In a recent question I began to question just what do Christians really know about the version of the Bible they are reading? For example the newest NIV (after 1985 version) is a mixture of the Todays NIV and the NIV making it a gender neutral, version which is a very liberal version of the Bible. The ESV is really a tweaking of RSV Bible. Bothe of these Bible fit well into the more liberal Denominations, and pastors. All to often I have encountered believers who are unaware of what the words "liberal", "gender natural", "Formal Equivalence", "Dynamic or Functional Equivalence", and the newest description "Optimal Equivalence" and finally what a "Paraphrased" The Message is one such paraphrased Bible. All to often people have no idea what kind of Bible they want. I have been friends with a Christian Book store owner. He has said many came into his store and really having no idea what translation of the Bible they wanted, if they wanted a Study Bible, or were surprised at the cost of Bibles. By far the most popular Bible was the NIV, even when he tried to show how much better the NASB, and some other translations were. Sadly the Bible that gets the most advertisement in Christian magazines is the NIV. ( as a side note I have seen the NASB more recently). I wondered and asked him what profit he made form his bookstore annually and he said he made less than 2 percent profit. the reason is people buy from Amazon, which sells more pornography than all other stores combined. He told me that such places buy huge amounts of Bible they can sell them cheaper than he bought them for. Will the Local Christian Book store be able to survive in the next ten years? By the way my friend lost almost seventy-five thousand dollars in ten years and went out of business last year. What as Christians should we do? Buy from a national branded book store like Life Way, Family Book stores, Lemstone, or other local book store that has Bibles. Unless Christians begin to support especially local Christian Bookstores they may well go the way of so many stores that once were but no more. The Bible I highly and completely recommend with no hesitation is the NASb and close to that is the Holman Christian Standard Bible. Why? they are Developed and translated by all Christian people who saw the Bible as God's inspired Word, Inerrant in the original manuscripts. Because they started with the right foundation the Bible translation the finished with is solidly dependable and trustworthy. my last word is be careful when selecting your next Bible. justme |
