1 | House Hold Idols in the OT? | Gen 31:19 | bowler | 207049
In looking at several OT stories I see that the people of God had "house hold idols", and I am trying to understand what there were. Here are some other examples. 1 Samuel 19:13 Michal took the household idol and laid it on the bed, and put a quilt of goat's hair at its head, and covered it with clothes. Judges 18:14, 18 - apparently a priest had house hold idols, and graven images, and molten images. In light of Exodus 20:4 - I am trying to understand how this could be? Why did the people of God in the OT have house hold idols? Just a worthless son. blessings abound, bowler |

2 | What is Right Someone Has to Die? | Ex 20:13 | bowler | 208043
How should we view saving a pregnant woman's life when it is either save her, or save the baby, as that means we have to kill one to save the other? Killing is always wrong. In this case God is not providing an option, it is either one, or the other. Question; how is doing anything one way or the other right in the sight of God and which one based on scriptures would you choose? I can't decide. Ps, this is not to debate Catholicism with Protestantism. blessings abound, bowler |

3 | Why Wrong For Us and Right For God? | Ex 20:13 | bowler | 208047
We all know murdering, killing is wrong that is not even much of a discussion. Murdering is killing someone. God said the life blood will be required of all those who kill someone. He never said there was a right reason for killing someone. Then God commanded Irael to go commit mass genocide in going about gettig rid of the pagan nations who were in the way of Israel gaining the promised land and in other situations. How is it that killing anyone for any reason is wrong, but then God says to go do it? Isn't this an expample of God being outside the Ten Commandments in terms of that He does not have to obey it, as in it does not apply to Him, but not as that He is somehow breaking it? What do you think? blessigs abound, bowler |

4 | Biblical Function Of Elders? | Num 11:16 | bowler | 206391
Looking at the Biblical idea of elders here and tracing it from the OT into the NT. In Numbers 11:16-17 the Lord grants to Moses help in judging the matters of the people. In 1 Timothy 3:1-13 Paul shows the qualifications for elders. What would be the difference if any between how the Lord had elders functioning in the OT and how they should be functioning now according to the NT? blessings abound, bowler |

5 | Which Enemies Could Israel Marry? | Deut 21:10 | bowler | 207051
How come if men were to desire the women of their enemies they were to take them and make them their wives? - Deuteronomy 21:10-13 I thought that Isael was not suppossed to intermarry with their enemies because their enemies were pagans? 1 Kings 11:2 - you shall not associate with the women of the nations, etc. Which came from Deuteronomy 7:2-4 - destroy everyone and don't take the women as wives, etc. I am missing something here about Deuteronomy 21:10, is this talking about a different type of enemy? I thought there was Israel, and then everybody else who was not of God. Just a worthless son. blessings abound, bowler |

6 | Questions of Interpretation? | Deut 30:13 | bowler | 206593
Would you see this as a prophecy of Jesus walking on the water to be a testimony so that the disciples would get who He was? Would you think that the preceeding verses are talking about Jesus going up to heaven to get the testimony as in Romans 10:6, 7? And further do you think that Paul was putting into scripture in Romans something Moses did not intend to be there in Deuteronomy? blessings abound, bowler |

7 | Why Saul Does Not Know David's Father? | 1 Sam 17:55 | bowler | 206592
Trying to figure out why Saul does not know who David is a son of because of 1 Samuel 16:17 - 20. Any thoughts on this? blessing abound, bowler |

8 | Consititues Faith as Opposed to David? | 1 Sam 27:1 | bowler | 208037
This is not an attempt to start a debate. I am struggling to understand something. Please consider the following and see if you can help me understand better your view on this issue. In Hebrews 10:23 it says that by FAITH when Moses was born he was hidden for three months because they were not afraid of the king's edict. They disobeyed the king and therefore are guilty of the sin of not obeying every authority as all of Romans chapter 13 states and as 1 Peter 2:13-20. These passages by the apostles were written to people being persecuted for beleiving in God and they were instructed to submit, not to save lives. How then are we to understand this concept that the hiding of Moses, which included sinnnig to do it, was of FAITH? Next part of this "problem". Hebrews 10:13 By FAITH Rahab welcomed the spies in peace. That included both lying to the kings men and going against the same scriptures that apply to saving Moses. How are we to understand the concept of FAITH seeing as how the actions that led up to the result included sinning? Next part of the "problem". Sin is always wrong, lying is always wrong, I do not deny that, I don't know any Christian that denies that fact. Here is the crux, not of my arugment, because I am not posting with that I have an agenda to proove in mind, but to understand what I do not understand, the crux - How is it wrong for David to do what was necessary to save lives, both genocide, and lying as if he had no faith, but Rahab and the Exodus mid-wives are considered to have had FAITH even though they broke two of God's statutes and commandments in the process of earning that FAITH? blessings abound, bowler |

9 | Saul Conjured up Prophesied from Dead? | 1 Sam 28:14 | bowler | 207280
I find this passage disturbing as I do not believe in "psychic phenomenon". The Bible is the word of God, it is true, all of it. What then are we to believe about 1 Samuel 28:8-22? Was Saul really conjured up from the dead, and then did he then prophesy from the dead in verse 19? Just a worthless son. blessings abound, bowler |

10 | Was Queen Vashti Right to Disobey? | Esth 1:17 | bowler | 208039
I have heard different takes on the story of Esther when it comes to the conduct of Queen Vashti. I can't decide what to think one way or the other. There may be other views than the two I present here - One Queen Vashti was wrong and should have obeyed her husband no matter what and "displayed her beauty" whatever that really means she was suppossed to do? Two Queen Vashti was right and was honoring God somehow by refusing to "display her beauty" whatever that really means because her beauty was not for public show but only for her husband the king? There are a lot of problems with either view as far as I am concerned and the answer would affect whether or not to obey one's husband no matter what - this goes into the area of obeying your husband no matter what being more important that doing what it right according to God, sort of. blessings abound, bowler |

11 | Job Talking About Jesus or Eternal Life? | Job 19:25 | bowler | 206596
Is Job prophesying about Jesus here, or is Job merely talking about the Father God as his God of hope for eternal life? blessings abound, bowler |

12 | Psalm Refers to Jesus Calming the Sea? | Ps 107:26 | bowler | 206594
Is it possible that this part of the Psalm 107:23 - 32 is referring to Jesus calming the Seas when the He was in the boat with the disciples and when He was walking on the water? blessings abound, bowler |

13 | Sheol Hell or World of the Dead? | Eccl 8:14 | bowler | 207279
According to the writer of Ecclesiastes there are many futilities on the earth. One of them is that righteous deeds are done to the wicked deeds are done to the righteous. In chapter 9 the writer of Ecclesisastes goes on to say that men are in the hand of God. Then he says that there is no planning, or knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where men are going. My question is what did the writer of Ecclesiastes consider Sheol to be; a place for both the wicked and the righteous, or just for the wicked? Psalm 9:17 The wicked will return to Sheol, even all the nations who forget God. Some of the other references have both the wicked and the righteous going to the same place. The word for Sheol means a couple of things besides just these two; a hell and death. Psalm 88:3, Psalm 139:8 - instances where Sheol was talked about as a place a righteous man would go? Isaiah 38:18, Hosea 13:14 - instances where Sheol and death are two different words, world of the dead and death? How can we tell what Solomon meant; world of the dead, hell, pit? Just a worthless son. blessings abound, bowler |

14 | Contrast Exodus 20:5 and Ezekiel 18:20? | Ezek 18:20 | bowler | 206597

15 | 70 A.D. or Revelation? | Dan 11:31 | bowler | 206720
Does this abomination of desolation which is also the same as the abomination of desolation that is also mentioned in Mathew 24:15 the same thing as Revelation 13:14, 15 - as if this is the "setting up of an abomination and doing away with the regular sacrifice"? I realize that many believe that this already happened when the destruction of the temple happened in 70 A.D. But how could it have since no abomination of desolation - no replacement of worship from right to wrong took place as Daniel describes? Daniel seems to have that the abomination of desolation means a replacing of right worship to wrong worship, which did not happen in 70 A.D, only the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem happened. blessings abound, bowler |

16 | Verse 14 About Judas or Israel and Judah | Zech 11:14 | bowler | 206595
The rest of the verse surrounding this verse are talking about Judas the betrayer, as far as I can tell from verses 13 - 17, but 14 doesn't seem to fit, but seem to have something to do with Zechariah's time. I am trying to figure out how verse 14 could be applied to Judas, it seems to have more to do with verses 6 - 12 of the same passage and seems to speak more to Zechariah telling the people of his time that the Lord is going to allow them to be split in two as a nation. Chapters 12 and 13 also would uphold this notion of what 13:6 - 17 are about. How should we understand verse 14 - as future prophecy of Judas, or as present prophecy of a split Israel? blessins abound, bowler |

17 | Repentance is Sorry or Walk From Sin? | Matt 3:8 | bowler | 206749
How far does repentance go? How active is repentance is it saying sorry and meaning it and moving into Godly living, or is it possible to say it and keep staying in a sinful situation becuase life would be much easier to live? This may seem like a weak question, but I have real pause to wonder what others think about this important issue as of late. blessings abound, bowler |

18 | Origins of Synagogues and Rabbis? | Matt 12:9 | bowler | 207281
We see all over the NT the synagogue, the synagogue. But in the OT there seemed to be only the on temple, or before it the tabernacle. When and why did synagogues and Rabbis come into existence? I truly do not know. Just a worthless son. blessings abound, bowler |

19 | Good and Bad Fruit Out of Context? | Matt 12:33 | bowler | 207045
I myself have used this verse very often to mean that the "actions" of others constitute the "good tree and good fruit" and the "bad tree and bad fruit". After reading further down the passage, I am wondering if I am getting it all wrong! Jesus speaks of the words that come out of people's mouths as being this bad or good fruit rather than anctions. So, my question is are we taking the verse out of context by applying it to action as well, since Jesus does not say works, or actions? Just a worthless son. blessings abound, bowler |

20 | Bind and Lose in heaven? | Matt 18:15 | bowler | 206223
Looking at verse 15 through 20. Wondering exactly what is meant by "bind and lose" in verse 18. Does this have to do with your brother sinning, and if so, what is the believer binding and losing, since only Jesus can forgive sins or God condemn a sinner? And what is binding and loosing, in heaven? Is this just a recognition thing, or is this some sort of power the believer has to retain or eject people from the church? blessings abound, bowler |
