1 | Why David want to kill Nabal | 1 Sam 25:21 | LKwan | 37742
In 1 Sammuel 25: While David was in the desert, he heard that Nabal was shearing sheep. Then he asked his servants to send a greeting to Nabal and asked for some foods and goods. Despite Nabal is not a good person, however, I think he has right to not giving things to David. How come David would like to kill him ? It didn't click for me. Thanks for any inputs. 2 | Why David want to kill Nabal | 1 Sam 25:21 | Morant61 | 37743
Greetings LKwan! The short answer to your question is that theirs was a different culture. Hospitality was considered an obligation. David had provided a service for Nabal by protecting his property. Therefore, Nabal 'owed' David hospitality. When he refused, it was a tremendous insult in their culture. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
