2 | What made David's conscience bother him? | 1 Sam 24:5 | Makarios | 12686 | ||
Hello Steve, "24:5 David’s conscience was troubled, for touching Saul’s clothing was tantamount to touching his person, and David knew it was wrong to lift up a hand against the Lord’s anointed king (24:6, 10)." (Ryrie's Study Bible) "David’s heart troubled him: David was conscience-stricken. He knew it was wrong to assault the Lord’s anointed king (vv. 6, 10). Even though David had not really done anything to hurt the king physically, the fact that he had reached out with his knife troubled him." (Nelson Study Bible) Even though he did not kill Saul, the very thought of it troubled him! This, I believe, symbolizes how we all should react to sin.. We should never ignore our conscience. --Nolan |
