Word study ... Sha'al is the word translated "lent" in the KJV and "given" in the Amplified. It usually is translated "ask" ... Hannah asked God for her son and did not lend him for a short time ... but, I lifetime. 1 Samuel 1:28 "Therefore I have given him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is given to the Lord. And they worshiped the Lord there." (Amplified) ... is the reason I said she gave him. |

I should say the lending fro a lifetime is same as giving. The Youngs gives a good translation too. I don't know if she could give to God what was already His by vow. | ||||||
