I believe that it is a matter of interpetation, not so much and "evil" spirit, but rather an "attitude" of Gods presence towards Saul, but the author maybe at the time didn't have the word "Attitude" in his vocabulary, so instead he chose "evil" - like the time that God was in the garden with Adam and he already knew, that Adam had eaten the apple - his spirit was not in a 'pleasant' mood, but rather one of anger/distress. | ||||||

God could also have withdrawn His hand of protection from Saul, allowing Satan to send a minon to Saul. Like when Satan asked God permission to sift Job. God USES Satan (whether the Devil knows it or not is another matter.) Remember God created Satan and the demons. While they fell, this does not mean that they are outside of God's perview or ability to use. Micah |
